The time has finally come to install our newly built Yamaha R3 Superbike engine! In this episode, we take the stock motor that we installed for Daytona out and replace it with our Superbike engine in hopes to get it up and running and ready for a dyno tune. I would argue much more than that, mine makes 38hp at the wheel with a can and airfilter. Mine was also setup on a harsh dyno, but I'm in the U.K and only run 99octane which could make a difference? :)

There are still many episodes coming this season in this series. We have the dyno video. Then we will likely do the front suspension / triple clamp video. We do have an episode planned at a local track where we will take the stock street R3 we have, our Supersport version, and this superbike, and compare everything simultaneously. After that we have one episode planned to go over the weight loss and how we achieved it.

Nice video, I lowered the front of my R3 1 inch, I see yours have the handle bars under the 3 tree, is that better than what I did to just loose the bolts an pull up the fork
@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 жыл бұрын
Suspension and geometry setup are vital to proper handling and performance of your motorcycle. By lowering the front of your bike by an inch you drastically changed the rake, trail, wheelbase, and how mass transfer during acceleration and braking affects the suspension. I would highly recommend finding a local performance shop that does suspensions and have them do your setup. This does not cost very much but will get your machine matched to you and in turn you will have more fun riding it.

@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 жыл бұрын
Many people with MT-03/25 and R3/25 have said the same thing. However, just putting a vastly more powerful motor in wouldn't do much for you if you didn't upgrade the braking, suspension, tires, etc. No use to have extra power if you can't use it because other systems on the bike won't support it.

We have partnered with two exhaust companies; Toce Performance and Yoshimura. These are the exhausts we stock, advertise, and sell. There are many reasons why we chose those two companies to do business with, but I won't get into that. The Alpha-T is a new exhaust from Yoshimura for the R3. We are all about experimenting with new technology and learning from it. The numbers Yosh told us can be achieved with their new exhaust were impressive, so we decided to run that exhaust on the superbike.

How comes you're not using an engine crane for removing/installing the engine? Could hold the engine with the crane whilst removing the bolts and then lower it down onto a roller-board in order to move it around..
@TSTindustries
@TSTindustries 6 жыл бұрын
We have tried that approach and found that it takes way more time and is very cumbersome. The method we use currently works great on all the small to 1000cc motors we swap.

Please get educated before throwing out random comments. I invite you to read racing organizations technical specifications for different classes of motorcycle racing. You will notice a trend of tags like supersport, superstock, superbike, GP assigned to all displacement bikes depending on level of permitted modifications.

Please look up CCS/WERA/ASRA racing rules and then respond with your findings of their classification on a superbike.

TSTindustries I'm not referring to some technicality based on rules that the majority of people don't use to classify bikes. No way in hell will something with hardly more than a golf cart sized motor be considered a superbike. 600 cc's is the minimum.

Well good thing this bike is used in races only with no street use. "Golf cart sized motor" or not, this is a video build series on our RACE R3 that is competing in the Superbike Class.
