If you move the linkage to adjust the shift peddle up or down you will find you have problems getting it to shift into all the gears. If you want to adjust the peddle up or down you twist the linkage rod

Not sure what you mean by that. Can you elaborate?
@MrGhoulie
@MrGhoulie 3 ай бұрын
@@intelcoren9963 If you adjust the shifter the way he says in the video, by moving where the dot is, that will cause issues shifting and it will be harder to get in gears. Maybe even impossible to shift because the shift linkage might be bumping into the engine cover. The correct way to adjust the shifter position it to loosen the locking nuts on the linkage and spin it to shorten or elongate the shift linkage itself. This will change the shifter position without messing up the pivot point.

This is better than I expected. I think I've seen a video on a cbr600rr and the oil filter was right under the header and you had to take the entire half side of the fairings off.

I agree. Not the most convenient location. My R1 is probably worse though. Right behind the hot header and have to wiggle it out.

For what it’s worth, mines a 2008 R6 (not S) special edition, I use 4T Racing Mobil 1 motor oil, and model KN204-1, K&N as a filter and I’ve also used the OEM filter. Oil stays clean either way and it performs very nicely. I’m at 19k on the odometer. Gentleman on the video is 100% correct. Oil and fluids maintenance, break pads, it’s all cheap and easy. Even coils and spark plugs are relatively easy to moderate difficult to replace. Take care of your baby and she will take care of you!!

Great video. Why did u heat the oil? I haven't rode in 4 months. I heard it's better not to start the bike since the oil had been sitting for a long time and do the oil change before the first start of the season. Is that true? Thoughts?
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ 9 ай бұрын
Not starting your bike over the winter months is just because it builds up condensation and contaminates the oil if you are not getting the bike hot from actually riding it. Personally I would still start the bike before the oil change as it helps thin out the oil for draining easier. It also mixes the contaminants in the oil and helps get more out. My personal preference is do your oil change at the end of the season so you have clean oil without any contamination sitting in your engine / bearings long term. Then that first start next season is already fresh oil ready to go 👍.

Hello there, Thanks for this video very informative. I would like to make a request. Can you make a video on how to change the oil of your steering damper stabilizer because I think you will make a good tutorial on how to do it. Thank you.
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ Жыл бұрын
I will consider it but honestly I don’t think you really need to service a steering damper. It should be good for the life of the bike in my opinion. It’s not really a high wear item

Hey man, I just did an oil change and my bike is leaking oil somewhere. The oil light also came on at high speed. Do you know the reason why? Also how many Xs should the dip stick be covering, I couldn’t really see it that well in the video. Thanks!
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ 3 ай бұрын
Make sure your oil is at the very top of the “Xs” Double check to make sure your oil filter or drain plug are not leaking. Sometimes old oil can get soaked up in the foam on the inside of the lower plastics and appear leaking when it really isn’t.
@nathankong8732
@nathankong8732 3 ай бұрын
@@JT2JZ Oh right below the max line? And good point about the foam cover, I think that might also be the reason because I did get it messy when I was doing the change lol.
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ 3 ай бұрын
Yes fill it right up to the max line. The foam is kind of a pain. Squish it a few times with your fingers and see if oil comes out.

Sorry for the dumb question but this is my first bike. The oil was changed before 1500 miles or 2400km do I need to changed it again before I parked it for the winter ?
@JT2JZ
@JT2JZ Жыл бұрын
I like to change the oil before winter so the bike doesn’t have any contamination or moisture sitting inside it long term. That’s just my opinion though. Honestly if the oil doesn’t have a lot of use on it you could leave it and it won’t hurt anything. Just take it for one last good ride / heat cycle to make sure no moisture is in the old oil. Don’t start it over the winter either. Starting it without riding it and getting it hot just introduces more moisture and condensation back into the engine oil.

This is all WRONG! And you didn’t at least put 1/4 of a quart in the filter you just installed it all dry?? And the bike calls for a level surface when doing a oil change not up on the rear stand un-level and the bike calls for 2.75 not 3.2 and completely full… your oil level should be half up the dip stick! Obviously your rear is lifted so it’ll read high but still you dumped a little to much oil in.
@ivanoB123
@ivanoB123 Жыл бұрын
Agree, this video had good intentions and is well explained compared to other videos, however there are 2 BIG mistakes, 1) leaving the bike on the rear stand will lead to improper oil drain and inaccurate oil level readings. 2) Not filling the new filter with oil. If the OP of the video actually cares about helping R6 owners he should delete this video since a lot of other riders that are not informed will just follow this video and think its the right amount of oil leading to possible engine problems down the road not to mention that you are spending more money on an extra L/ QT. Always read the manual!
