Hey I'm from Greece I don't write good English but maybe you understand the situation. I have a R6 2001 with 25000km and fire up to start like new very good idle no stall all good after 6000rpm and above works like rubbish hesitates sound like misfires 3 cylinder I don't now I clean carburattors change spark plugs cr10ek Fuel filter, fuel pump, stator, rectifier, ecu, fuel pump relay, coolant, motoul 10w40 5100, oil filter, oem air filter and I have the same problem after this one month later. I have checked again the carburetors and Tps and it's perfect. Maybe ignition coils or pick up sensor I don't now.

Sounds like your coils are causing problems. Get new coils and see what happens. Also consider adjusting the pilot jets and pick up a jet kit, if you can find one. The jet kit will turn your R6 into a real R6... you will not be disappointed. Finish that up with a good carb sync and you should be piloting an absolute missile. I would start with new coils and see how she runs. Come back and let me know how it goes for you.

Thank you bro tomorrow I wait for my new pocket tester and I see the coils and another electric things. My setup on carburattors I have dunojet #160 main jets on 4 carburattors 2th clip on jet needles #40 pilot jets 2 turns out the same factory screw setting and before one month he is running like champion after 2 weeks the same problem I lean it #150main jets on 4 carburattors and 1th clip on needles and it's like before 1 week later again same the problem and the spurkplugs has beautiful color I don't now bro I see tomorrow maybe the problem is the ignition coils :)

It's after 6000 rpm like hit Rev limiter but don't 6000- 16.000 it's sound like Rev limiter and I see orange flames on exchaut I have original headers and wileyco exhaust

@@ΠαύλοςΚαλτσής It sounds like your problem is the coils going bad. Hopefully you get a good set of new coils, that should fix your issues. You definitely have the right set-up with the dynojet jet kit. 💪😎

The problem with the coils is not the windings but the plastic becomes porous causing arc-firing .

@@Redir89 Can you explain it? I have Yamaha R6 2006, and i reworked my motor, but i guess the coils are off. I measured with 3-4 different metters, and all the readings are different. What wrapping in tape will solve? Thanks!

@@nicolasovidiuflorian9104 I did that and it helped keeping the spark from coming out of them but if your coils are fried inside then that’s another issue that only replacing will fix. You can look on eBay like I do. 06,07 coils are the same as 2020 there’s a lot of crashed 2020 r6 being parted out on eBay eventually I got a new set of coils for 45 bucks lightly used the bike only had 700 miles when crashed

Hello 👋 I know this video is old. But am desperate at this point. My r6 2005 is having issues sounds like a v twin tractor it’s sluggish at low rpms. Tested the coils and all 4 primary read 0.5 and 2 of the 4 secondary read 5.36 , and 1 reads 4.98 the other 4.92 . Help please is this reading bad? I try looking online for the specs. But no luck. Everyone says something different.

Walter V: I would suggest that you try new coils. I have had very little luck diagnosing a bad coil using ohm readings. I think one of the problems, is heat. I always tested coils when they are cold. I'm sure I would have gotten different readings if the coils had been heated up, like they are when the engine is running.

I have a 03 Yamaha R6 and the vote meters at 200 I got a 0.4 and is 0.5 but the secondary with the negative be on the right and the positive on the bottom and getting no readings out of three of them I have not tested the fourth one because it still on my bike I was wondering you think I might be doing something wrong

It is possible that the test leads from your voltmeter are not making contact when you are testing the secondary winding. It can be difficult to get a good reading because the lead needs to be pushed far up into the coil to make contact. It is also possible that your coils are just bad. If the bike is breaking up and stumbling when you apply throttle, your coils are in need of replacement.

Hy guys!...I have a R6 2008 and my question is: four coils must have the exactly the same value or can have some variation? ( ie: I have two with 9,64 in secondary and one with 9,62 and the last with 9,60. This variation is normal? Thanks in advance

I'm not sure what the coil specs for your year is. However, it does seem like the whole "coil problem" plagues all generations of the R6. I feel that the slight variation you are seeing is probably normal. I think the best coil test for the R6 goes like this...... Is your R6 running bad??? If you answered yes, get 4 new coils.

yeah.my 2009 r6 is kind of boggy in first gear. I loose power sounds kind of like a v twin until 4k rams then sounds fine. For ex lets say I'm at a redlight i put it in first gear then drive off sounds boggy and like a v twin and seems like i loose power until 4k rpms. Is it an ignition coil problem? Also i have to let bike warm up for a while. If not it would stall out on a complete stop in first gear.@@fwh79FOXR6

@@182Bassist Have you ever done a tune up on your bike? That would be changing the spark plugs, air filter, fuel filter, and throttle body sync. There is a good chance you bike needs new coils. It is getting to that age. If you bike has never been tuned up, your spark plugs are probably worn out. Worn spark plugs will cause problems like you are describing. What is signs of bad sync carb?

Poor throttle response and sometimes a rougher than normal idle. When the carbs are synced properly, the engine will have a very smooth rev while applying throttle. The carbs should be synced at least once a year.

thank u got the secondary one working first test that I got was 0.4 - 0.5 secondary at 20 K ohms 5.75 and the last one that I got for my coils was 5.71 can you look at my new video that I put up about the sound it's making and I'm going to retest them I left them out in the sun then I'm going to retest them

I'm not for sure bought it used call Yamaha corporate and told me to take it in but the place I took it was closing up shop for good well I'm not for sure they did put one in at least but today I called corporate again and I have an appointment to go to the Fresno California area

I should have record how that guy was reacting to corporate with take the full bill if it is the coils they have nothing on file that they got replaced and you couldn't believe they will be paying for it knowing that 13 years old and he told me it could be something else like a crankshaft but I tell him I just did my valves they should have told me if it is
