@@SIMONB1 Yes I did. Bought it brand new in 1981, every penny I had at the time. Ran like a pig for most of the 1000 mile running in period. After that it ran perfectly for the 18000 miles I had it. Best bike I ever owned. The looks, feel, noise, acceleration ticked all my boxes. A bike that truly captured the moment for so many.

The sound when you started it up took me straight back to when I had one in the 80's. It was perfect for me being only 5' 7 as it was small and light. My previous bike was a Suzuki GS550e and I found it big and cumbersome. Thanks for posting this, made my day!

My dad has an 1982 rd 350 lc I got the privilege of riding it when I turned 25 (I’m 30 now) sadly 6th gear went and we can’t find a replacement transmission. One of the saddest day of my life. On of the few times I saw my father cry. Amazing machine and I wish they would make 2 stroke bikes again ❤️❤️

Simon, Cracking good show! There's nothing like the sound of a Yamaha two stroke twin. 😊 Music to my ears. Across the pond in the USA, we never got the 350LC, we had to soldier on with the aging RD350 and 400 air cooled bikes until the YVPS LC2 arrived in 1984. Those 5 years from '79 to '84 were filled with envy for the Elsie, which was forbidden in the US. Imagine the surprise and delight when Yamaha brought the YVPS LC2 (RZ350 in the US) to America. I promptly bought an '85, and still have it. Great fun to ride. Easy to maintain, good spares availability, and now highly coveted by collectors. I will never sell it. I am now helping my son restore an '84 YVPS he bought in pieces from someone else's uncompleted restoration. Eventually, my bike will join his collection when I hang up my helmet. Enjoy your Elsie, they are great fun to ride. Thanks for sharing.

Wow when you were sitting there idling that brought back so many memories. The RD 350 it was the last bike I ever owned and I sold it when I was about 20 I’m now 54. I love that bike it was so much fun ride I got a kick out of when you said it’s TopSpeed and I was like oh yeah I know that. Are used to be pretty reckless one of the main reasons I stop riding. Now I paddle a Canoe for fun. All the best great work on that bike to love that it’s all original

Alas no, I was into DT's at the time but always loved them. A couple of mates had them though. Quite prone to lifting the front wheel when I was in the back I seem to remember.

Loved the RD’s I never had an LC but did have a 400 with J&R power pipes dropped bars engine and carb work that made it fly from 3500 revs, below that was a big flat spot but still commuted on it through all weathers as you did back then. When the LC’s came along I’d already changed to the 400 super dream and was happy enough with that, even better when with a Dunstall exhaust and when Pirelli brought, think it was the phantom tyre to the market that was a huge improvement on the sort of tyres it came with originally👍

Hey up southwest, the 400 superdream would be in par with the LC, probably easier to ride as it would if been a 4 stroke, I remember running my LC on Avon roadrunners, I have no idea how I rode the LC like I stole it, all them years ago, good memories, ride safe, Simon B 👍

I sold my power valve and I'm gutted, I've had 2 125's a 250 and 350 ypvs and they are some of the best bikes I've had, plus a minter looking ER 125 over in the corner, I'd love to have that as well as the LC 350, the beautiful two stroke twin burble, kleenex please!!

Lovely LC Simon! You were asking what people have in the garage. Where do I start, 1972 Yamaha DT3 250 Enduro, currently waiting on the handlebars and mudguard brackets coming back from the chromers, 1972. Honda CB360, the tank and side panels are coming back from the painters next week, 1973. Yamaha YZF750R, my everyday transport at the moment, 1993. I don't do modern bikes, my newest is a Yamaha FZR600R from 1994!

Had all sorts of bikes in the eighties. Suzuki ER185, GS550, 650 Katana. Had an RD400DX that was a bit pants compared to an E version. Would have liked one of these and still would but out of my price league now. They still look ace. I did over take one on a Honda XL125 once but I assume he was running it in. Sounds great.

Slipping Clutch . What Oil did you use in the Gearbox ? Plain R-40 is good . Or ATF . NO Multi-grade . Friction Modifiers stuff up Wet Clutches .

It was an XR3 for me with the rs 350lc, keep an eye out on the channel as I've bought another 80's classic, it's a 125cc 2 stroke and it's yellow, it was a game changer towards the middle to end of the 80's, been looking for 10 years for one 😁.

That is a very nice bike indeed sir but not convinced it is a 1982 model, as they had triple stripe decals, so more likely it is a 1980 or 81, unless it was a late sold early example? Love mine to bits, although my I do prefer my RD400’s if I am being brutally honest, as they have a little more character imho.

Hey up Chris, I used a combination of 2, one is the standard fitting of the stand and one is one for my GS 1200, had to take one of the grease nipples off the suspension spindle to get the it on 😁, hope that helps ,ride safe Simon B 👍

It needs the stands removed, lights taped up, more induction roar and smoke (I used to race them).

@@SIMONB1 It is a wild animal, better 10 minutes living free on a track than a decade in a garage. I had mine sliding both wheels going into the old hairpin at Donnington and across the start finish markings at Silverstone. Memories like that are priceless, and you cant do it on public roads.

I'm driving BEEMER 325ti compact top spec on a 51 plate made in Germany only done 113,000 miles I love it it spins like a v8 I've had 7 YRS, but I'm looking at bikes everyday and miss DEM dearly ,the Ducati v2 is right up my street ! Take care !
