good review. Toms are 10x7 and 12x8. The 10" tom was made in a 7.5" size when RC were still made in Japan up until 2012. Floor toms are 14x13 and 16x15, the engineers at Yamaha have determined that that depth for floor toms is the best for tone and size. 20x16 has the lift, which was Dr. Gadd's request, he insisted the lift sounded best for only the 20" bass drum.

I would love to hear them either with vintage Emperors or Ebony Emperor “suede” heads for a little tone.

I have the same aluminum snare, it's just fantastic. But Steve Gadd plays the steel model, which looks almost identical.
@drumteacher43 Жыл бұрын
Yes the Aluminum snare is awesome! It’s my personal favourite., and your right about Steve Gadd, his signature snare is a 14x5.5 steel snare. I just prefer the aluminum but the steel would be a cool addition!🥁thanks for your comment

I traded in my dw collectors for the Yamaha recording custom in surf green + matching wood snare. I also got the aluminium snare. I have the drumdial digital + evans g2 tom batters, g1 tom resos, emad bass batter. I have Evans power centre reverse dot Snare batter. I'd like to know what drumdlal tunings you use. Also, I find there's 1 or 2 tuning rods which are quite loose after tuning. I used the Tunebot on the dw + didn't have this much of an issue. Any tips? Maybe you can do a video on drumdial tuning? Regards.

I did the exact same thing sold my broken glass finishbdw’s to get the Yamaha kit. I have the Tom’s tuned around 75 on the drum dial snare a bit higher around 80 and bass lower at 70. I was planning a drum dial video as you read my mind, hahaha. Thanks for your comment stayed tuned for that video!

Tip: Hitting rimshot on toms tuned low makes them sound choked. Its ok when theyre tuned high but not that tuning.
@drumteacher43 Жыл бұрын
Really there are no rules! Choked un choked it’s up to the individual how and what type of sound they want to make. but I appreciate your comment

The matching snare supplied with your kit is birch like the rest of the kit, not maple. Recording Customs have always been birch.
@drumteacher43 Жыл бұрын
You are correct please excuse my slip up! 😊

Also I didn’t get the matching snare I have the Aluminum model like the one Steve gadd uses.

@@drumteacher43 I also have the new aluminium snare. I love it! But I've never heard of him using this drum as a main snare.

I don't hear people complaining about their Apple devices made in China. Want America made Apple phone? You won't be able to afford it.

Great drums, that is if you like Chinese slave-labor knockoffs of the Japanese classics.
@drumteacher434 ай бұрын
Yes Chinese built but no slave labour your wrong there. Even though it’s easy to assume that Yamaha’s move to China was just a manufacturing cost-savings measure, it was actually to provide more control over the manufacturing of their high-end drums in a state-of-the-art plant. You won’t find any corner cutting here, and the pricing reflects that. The Recording Customs have always come at a premium, but then, that never stopped a serious player from wanting them.

@@drumteacher43 I really belive it is a great drumkit, but made in China scared me...... Sorry
@drumteacher438 ай бұрын
@johnbentley3504 I’ve had my kit for 5 years and they are as good as the day I got them so I don’t have a fear of the Chinese assembly. I read they are using very high end technology on a number of Yamaha kits. Only the Yamaha PHX kit is actually made in Japan!
@drummaman18 ай бұрын
@@johnbentley3504that was the common perception at the time when Yamaha was announcing their move 12-13 years ago. All of their pro lines are made there, including Recording Custom, Absolute Hybrid Maple, and the Live Custom Hybrid Oak. All three lines are 100% well made, and sound fantastic. I stopped worrying years ago. You should too.
