I doubt it. They just choose to be ridiculous. Maybe they have actual Rhodes pianos that they want to sell because they're more expensive, so they don't want to advertise the Yamaha as being capable of sounding like a Rhodes, even though that's exactly what it does and it really should be mentioned that it has the classic Rhodes / Wurly sounds.

Can it be shifted to low to use as a Fender Rhodes Bass atop the YC in Vox high side shift? The Doors style! I love that sound combo

There is a guy on youtube that built the thing into a really nice, 1960's style casing and added a 61-key keyboard, an amp and proper speakers. It is a massive project but he turned that little synth into a beautiful instrument.

Can it play lower octaves and sound like organ pedals or like a Fender Rhodes Bass Piano? I love playing my bass for fun, but at my age, the poor ergonomics of playing a bass guitar are just wreaking havoc on my hands, wrists forearms and shoulders and back. I'd like to try something different before I give up on music completely, but I'm very partial to bass and anything with a vintage vibe.

Is there a looper, too? If not. Why does not Yamaha licence a proper looper technology from Phil Tipping? Sequetron by Phil Tipping is a phenomenal looper, so contact Phil and check if you can license this original technology? All reface users who do not want to wait for Yamaha licensing or adding a powerful looper into reface, simply check Sequetron by Phil Tipping. It can force to scale, chords, held notes and much more, there is nothing like it I know. Vangelis and Tangerine Dreamers will love it.

Hi kdgfg, while you certainly can play keys through a guitar amp (especially if you want the distortion), you'll get a much more high-fidelity sound from a dedicated keyboard amp or full-range PA speakers. In this video you're hearing the Reface Audio Outs combined with a mixer and then sent directly to the video camera Audio Ins. Thanks for watching!

It meant to be modular synth at first, but they decided later to give it a keyboard. You can plug a midi keyboard with the feeling u like the best (so you ll have a great synth + keyboard for about 600$) and you can just take you yamaha CP by itself and play it anywhere with bateries... So, this to me is not a fail !

It (these) need a 2nd USB plug where the module acts as a host for an external USB MIDI controller.

+Roboprogs, Good point. I don't use USB MIDI by choice, but If I did, I'd definitely want it to be controllable by a USB MIDI controller. They also need proper 5 pin DIN MIDI In and Out sockets, instead of being forced to use a crappy little adapter cable that I know I'll lose or break, then have to re-buy periodically at a ridiculous Yamaha accessory price.

iConnectivity makes an awesome little unit that you can plug a USB hub into and connect up to 7 USB midi devices. I'm SUPER picky about latency and if this introduces any latency its nearly undetectable.

As one of the most popular and requested features within Japan, you know...our home and the base of Yamaha...it's a core staple. That won't go anywhere. The sound as Daniel noted is widely applied and appreciated. Sweeping statements born of ignorance annoy me. Especially when the reason this is here, is for good reason. Intended since conception. A lot more forethought went into the series than some of the less informed might realize.
