These SPRING sounds are beyond the moon! Very good

Yeah, what a surprise! I haven’t seen a spring setting in a rack unit before. At least not one I liked

Great demo! Good playing, a decent representation of the unit and a fun video overall!

Sounds very close to my SPX1000 which in turn sounds very much like the SPX90, but improved. Some ART reviews would be cool. Great playing sir!

Incredible just how good this sounds, considering digital reverb technology was barely off the ground at this point in 1985.
@cliftonwright70812 жыл бұрын
Yeah isn’t that wild? I wonder about that often. Maybe people just had more more time and imagination to create more interesting tools back then?
@EgoShredder2 жыл бұрын
@@cliftonwright7081 That's kinda true yeah, research and production schedules are much tighter these days. Faster turnaround etc. It's why things are not made to last anymore. Yamaha gear was made like a tank in the 80s and 90s.

“The first sound we’re gonna check out is large hall”. Did they use this unit on Every Breath You Take? 🤔
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
Haha I dunno! Maybe, it did find its way onto a lot of records back then, usually drums though

@@nazimshah6582 haha I can relate to that feeling! I find all my stuff in Japanese thrift stores so it’s mostly luck of the draw when I end up with something. But I’ll definitely snag one if I see it!

Any experience with the REV100? How different are they?
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
I would say they aren't comparable. The REV100 is more consumer grade and and the Rev7 and Rev5 are professional studio units. That doesn't mean you wouldn't be able to get a REV100 to produce a close or convincing sound in something like a guitar rig though. They're a lot less expensive and still sound pretty good, which is cool.

If I were to buy a used one would it not sound as good because of the upgrades you did? Or did those upgrades just avoid future repairs?
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
Sorry I missed your question bro! Yeah I’m mostly future proofing it though one could argue the better caps might improve the noise floor which is already pretty low. The most noticeable/ useful sound improvements would come from upgrading the Analog to Digital section and some of the smaller value caps in that area of the main board. Improved A/D will smooth out/warm up verbs and remove high frequency artifacts

How come that your display shines in bright blue? Normally it's green and unfortunately very dim, too. Ok, at 2:43 I see an upgrade information. But this doesn't explain the blue color, only the yummy brightness. Did you replace the whole display?
@cliftonwright70815 ай бұрын
Negative, I found an lcd backlight strip for the display on the internet that I spliced into the 5V rail that feeds the control panel assembly. It was a very easy mod and I think a lot of that light up material can be cut to size without it getting messed up

If you’re nostalgic about the rack rigs and sounds of the 80s/90s then this is an excellent sounding unit that’s really easy to use. It is freakin huge though lol
