How to install a new display in a Yamaha REV7

A short how to change the display in the Yamaha REV7 effect unit. I bought some displays from Luxdisplays and wanted to show how easy it is to change it and breathe some more life into your old REV7 when the old displays tend to dim beyond good use.

I've replaced the EL backlight if the REV7 twice, but they eventually become dim. Maybe it's time to replace it completely. Thanks for the encouraging tutorial!

Anders! Where do you use your REV 7 mostly? And I also know that you have 2 PCM 70. Would love to know where you use both respectively..I bought a REV 5 recently mainly for drums, so your recommendation can be of great help. I love the music you write btw! They are very inspiring...

Thank you, glad to hear that. :) I actually have three, well one is for spare parts mostly, but the two other ones are powering my Roland rack and the Yamaha LS9-32. I use them for most Roland and Yamahas, Halls, Delay and that Symphonic preset really. The PCM70s I usually go for the larger hall presets, also the same Roland MKS and Yamaha TX modules. Bit different for each song.

Hi great video I need to replace my display as well and I've been on ebay for a while now looking for a display just like yours' I'd like to have a Blue display with Black characters but so far can't find any always Blue display with White characters. I tried the name Luxdisplays are they in America or China thanks

Thanks :) You should be able to get in touch with him via the link in the description. He replies fairly quickly on ebay. I’m pretty sure he can get hold of that colour combination too, but from what I understand, he needs to order a certain amount of each batch for all these different types of display. Many can be used across a wide range of synths and modules, but most must be modified both electronically and physically to fit the specific device. So it goes without saying that he can’t sit on all types of combinations out there. But send him a line, and he will tell you if it’s possible or not. He lives in the UK. :)
