Yamaha RGX 1220S Demo

Play through of my new (to me) RGX 1220s. Guitar has an alder body, mahogany neck thru construction, ebony fretboard, two humbuckers. There's a switch that toggles between full humbucker and single coil sound. Equipped with a Yamaha double locking tremolo. Playing through my Fender solid state Princeton Chorus amp with Boss SD-1 Super Overdrive for dirty tones.

Yamaha has always produced a line pf real quality instrument's and if you keep your eyes open you see them in all forms of music jazz, 90;s metal , a lot of early pop punk bands used yamahas i remember some funk guys using them in the early 80's.. i made the mistake in 1980-81 i purchased a Ibanez custom blazer instead of a Yamaha SB1000 (think it was a 1000 might have been 2000) the only reason i went with the blazer was it was much lighter. They were both the best guitars in the store, Japan was really top of the game from 75 to 89...

Yamaha has always had a class A affordable line my aim is for their 335 killer SA2000 i have some great guitars including a Revstar !! sp90 and some nice ibanez AM153 upgraded to a 2000 us strat tele some other jazz boxes but my big aim in my retirement years is a SA2000 or a early SG/SBG 2000 (or a 1000 if i must) sorry i rambled so mush im a new subscriber very excited looking at your collection

@@REX-ks1os I recently got an SE1220 that I haven’t reviewed yet. Pretty much same specs as this guitar but a 25.5 in scale length. Looks more like a standard strat. Would love an SA2000 but need to find one for the right price.

The Revstars are cool, but Yamaha NEEDS to make guitars like this again.

Haven't had a chance to try a Revstar. However, agree that Yamaha should reissue these guitars. Plays as well as any superstrat I've every tried!

Really nice. I have a 1980s RGX110 single humbucker and a volume knob, still one of my favorites, so simple, so savage. Might keep an eye out for this one

Highly recommend if you can find one. A 1212 is also a good option and I tend to see those more often.

Had exactly one of these. Sold mine about 10 years ago. Nice guitar, but the trem was not the greatest. Cool to see

Thanks! Trem is not too bad on this one. B string not staying perfectly in tune but so far that's it.
