Fantastic that someone does tutorials for RS7000 still! I just managed to get one myself.

COngrats! It's a great machine, capable of controlling a wall of synths or big sounds solo. If it only was a tiny bit smaller, though. ;)

small info for everyone with my previous rs 7000 which I sold 3 years ago, I saw that the wrong ram plays a major role in this, with the wrong one it takes a long time or it continues to calculate infinitely, then bought others and it works perfectly in a very short time all processed i bought a new rs 7000 this week and i have the same problem, the ram keeps counting so i ordered new ones and hopefully these are the right ones

I just got the RS7000 w/ 64 mb simm and AEIB2 output card! This is the best production machine ever!

Congratulations! A great choice, and a very powerful center piece for your studio.

With the AEIB?! How much did that cost you? I never see them for sale 😕

Me the same...full optional ❤ and I have a smartmedia 64 and a jaz iomega drive 2gb also 🤟😜😆 there is no gear that can compete also today 👍 200% versatile!

which mode is best for sampling ?? slice seq or pitch voice?
@mr_floydst2 жыл бұрын
Really depends on what you're trying to achieve. Want to remix a drum loop? slicing. Want to play an instrument? Pitch.

How is it to do manual chopping? Is the copy sample as slow as some of the other functions? Samping > Sample Edit > Adjust start time > Copy to next sample > Adjust start time > Copy... and so on. Viable workflow? I feel very skeptical about automatic slicing :D. Sounds like a lot of trial and error. Especially if you have to wait 2-3 minutes between each.
@mr_floydst Жыл бұрын
Hi! As far as I remember, the only function that was slow here is the time stretching/auto slicing. Everything else takes a couple of seconds / happens instantaneously. The workflow is well thought out and uses the 4 encoders. It's not hard to learn. But it's been a while and maybe I'm remembering incorrectly. (Can my viewers please step in?) ;-)
@Dougie- Жыл бұрын
@@mr_floydst And chopping obviously.. 138 sec 😅
@mr_floydst Жыл бұрын
Yep, my bad - I should have re-watched my own video before answering ;) Anything that taxes the CPU will be very, very slow here. Memory operations like copying, splitting manually... will be ok. But it's still slower than what you are used to from today's hardware.

Ive always been a purest without sampling but after acquiring my RS 7000 im ready to break my mould. My friend is an amazing drummer both electronic and traditional and our trance tracks need that drumming edge that only sampling can bring.

Thanks for watching! This sounds interesting; in which way are you planning to augment your live drumming?
@leeoscbaker520711 ай бұрын
@mr_floydst not sure yet. We'll probably mic up the drums through our mixer and route the channels to an alternative output that we have connected to the RS7000.

Hi! I'm afraid I can't. I buy and sell gear to make videos on this channel, and the RS7000 was one of those. My apologies. :)

I still actively use my RS which I got in 2001. My only gripe with it is that Yamaha never made it flexible enough so as to be able to upgrade HW. They should really develop a new version of this superb groove box coz even though Akai have MPC they sill do not include the anologue control one has on the RS. Plug a midi keyboard into the RS & it turns into a workstation that still puts quite a few modern ones to shame.

Hola Floyd, Still diving into the Manuel but wondering which memory card is most reliable for the RS7000?
@mr_floydst Жыл бұрын
I'm afraid I don't know an answer, but as Smartmedia cards are quite rare now, any card you can buy is a good choice.

There are smart media adapter cards (search for that term on google) or you can buy a scsi2sd adapter (which is much more expensive).

@mr_floydst3 жыл бұрын
Hi! I'm afraid I don't understand your question. Are you looking for time-stretching? It can do that (see my other RS7000 video, the one where I compare it to the MPC). You can also sequence the samples in a track, so they're "on time".
