Hi Channa, The RX-A3080 is lovely for music (for an AVR). My basic advise is to take the RRP of a AVR and divide it by 3 to imply its music performance. Given the budget, you might consider a stereo int amp (that has a theatre bi-pass mode) and a more modest AVR, but that question is best answered in a store, listening to the proposed outcomes.

I'm sorry for the intrusion, but why does every receiver i ever use have a washed out picture, blurring images and/or enhancing reds so much its not normal looking? i has a tx-sr876 it did this, an AVR-x200H, and now a Yamaha 2080. All receivers produce the same picture irregularities. But when the pc is connected to the tv there is no problem. Changing hdmi cables to HDMI 2.1 cables doesn't fix this. I can also see picture problems when the ps4 pro and switch are connected to the receiver as opposed to the tv. Why is this? I thought the receiver was the heart of the home theater system.

hey there, I think RXA2080 is more in my budget. Do you think that would be suitable for running a pair of Goldenear Triton 3+, Goldenear Supercenter XL, 4x goldenear satelites for the mid and rear? Also considering denon x6400h, what do you think would be better? Thanks!

Yes. The 3080 is stunning, but the 2080 is no slouch and if the budget can't stretch to the 3080, then you will be VERY happy with the 2080.

Hello, I need your help by understanding how musiccast works with main, zone2 and zone3 simultaneously in Yamaha MusicCast RX-A2080 receiver. I`m searching the system that is capable to do "multitasking". For example: 1. If I`m watching in main zone 4k blue-ray with Dolby Atmos and my wife wants to listen music from NAS server or phone in zone2 and the same time can I play some video to zone3 for kids from nas or streaming device. Or any other config: main zone - CD, zone2 - internet radio, zone3 - video form local NAS server? Is there some restrictions or limitations? P.S. Yes I read the user manual and I`m confused and I do not have where to ask for help(local store). Can you make a video please?
@TLPCHC5 жыл бұрын
At first glance, you need two AV receivers to deliver the number of areas you describe. Atmos needs lots of amplification channels, so maybe an RX-A2080 for the main theatre, and an RX-A1080 to run the two additional areas. Steamers are cheap, so you can strap one on to each of the two AVR's.

The RX-A3080 and 2080 can run two video zones and a third Audio Zone. Zone One and Two will have HDMI (picture and sound) but zone three is audio only. If you need video into three areas you will need a second AV R and use Musiccast to link them for music playback. When the third zone is activated, it will switch off the Atoms speakers, to provide the zone with amplification, so consider two AVR's anyway.

I now own this device for two weeks and i love it! It sounds really good, is easy to set up for experienced users despite you can configure about anything you can think of, even HDCP settings, which helped me a lot. On well mastered Blu Rays I always use Neural X because "Surround AI" is totally overrated and overadvertised. It does no good to any decent soundmix, but it improves bad audio by a fair step. It is one of the few disappointments i could find, besides the poor haptics of the remote and that there are only 2 speaker schemes that can be saved. And the display could really show some more information on what decoder is actually running. It is also awesome that this receiver has standby HDMI throughput and can be set to any input (scene) via remote, without having to switch it on. I strongly recommend setting up scenes for each input and integrating those in a Harmony Remote environment for easy use.

I am considering the 3080 or the 5200. Any sound quality difference between them on 2 channel audio?
@TLPCHC6 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian. The RX-A3080 is a "Rock Star". Bettered only by the new CX-A5200 / MX-A5000 combo. The MX-A5000 can bi-amp with the click of a switch, and deliver control to any load AND the CX-A5200 has the new 384kHz / 32bit DAC's and the lowest noise floor of anything I have seen in its price. Obviously if you need a single box solution, the RX-A3080 will be amazing, but if you have power amps, or the budget to add the MX-A5000...Go Fo It. Eat toast and beans for a month if you have to, to afford the CX-A5200.

What about upscaling 2 ch stereo to 5.1 7.1 9.2 etc? Is it amazing, enjoyable or does it sound too artificial and unpleasant. Upscaling is really important to me.
@TLPCHC5 жыл бұрын
It is pretty good, but if the audio is only stereo, it it not upscaling the sound (like a stereo - stereo upsampling DAC might) it is creating an artificial surround sound. This will always sound false compared to even a ProLogic sound track. Best bet... go have a listen to one set up in a HiFi store and see / hear for yourself.

The big Studio 100's like to be controlled a bit better than a single AVR can deliver. My suggestion is a three or seven channel power amp. I bought this Reciever November on Cyber Monday. I went from a Denon 4308ci 7.2 in 2009 setup then to a Onkyo NR5008 9.4 setup in 2011 to the Yamaha 3080 5.2 setup. I'm using a Emotiva XPA 5 that has been hooked up to all my previous receivers with a oppo 103 but for some reason there is so much more volume/power, speaker separation, larger soundstage, and clarity with the Yamaha. At 1st I was ripping out my hair trying to figure out the parametric EQ but one I figured it out I was amazed at the clarity and sound of the Yamaha. So far the only cons I would say is the top of the Yamaha is flimsy. If I pulled of the top I could bend it in half by hand and i couldn't do that with my other receivers. Also the remote is top heavy and the volume button is low to the right so the remote easily falls out of my hand sometimes.
