I've noticed you've commented on all ,my SG2000 videos, so I'm only gonna answer on this one ;) I totally agree with u on the Les P thing. The reason why they are very hard to come by, is because not many guitarist/guitarstores have a good view on Yamaha. The only thing that works is a Fender or a Gibson in their eyes. This guitar beats a Gibson anytime! Thanks for the comments ;) -Later!

I really like it, it is very pure in its tone. I see it as twice as good as any Les Paul, and half (or 1/4) of the price. I've never tried a smoother neck.. So soft :)
@soren65016 жыл бұрын
It's got excellent sustain. In thickness and width is almost like the gibson's. A bit thinner maybe. The ebony fretboard is VERY smooth, it feels like glass or something.. Recommendable ;)

I HAVE this guitar too! It's my favorite!

Hehe, great! Yep, I'm already saving for the SG2000, slowly but surely... But in the meantime I'd love to see SG2000 in some Zeppelin action. I don't think there are any clips on KZbin where someone would play Zeppelin with SG ;)

The gibson sg is the edgy one because of the thinner body. The Yamaha Sg is basically a double cut Les Paul, it has same the thick, arched top body as the Paul but the fret access of the Gibson sg.

Thanks! I'll soon upload some videos with my Suhr Standard. But be careful - amazing tone and awesomeness results in instant GAS ;-)

They are still for sale. But not many stores have them, because they are so unknown (for some reason). And thats a shame since it is such a cool guitar.

I've been playing for about 10 years

Without comparison the yamaha! Everything the Les Paul does with its humbuckers, the yamaha does even better. The SG is more clearer in its tone.. Plus the yamaha has the split-coil function, which is really cool, and it sounds great..

It must be a combination of both.. Its a Fender Prosonic amp and a Yamaha SG 2000.. The distortion pedal is an Emma ReezaFratZitz
@soren65016 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah it's neckthrough :) Thats really nice, and it really enhances the sustain! It also feel very smooth at the top frets. I'm running my guitar through a EMMA ReezaFratZitz Distortionpedal. It is very hardcore. Maybe a bit too rough for my taste.

Great videos Soren, but we need MORE! :D PLz, can you make one with some Zeppelin etc riffs? It'd be awesome..! Thx! -mika

really nice playing. I have an SG 1000 and I love it. It's a heavy little beast but not too bad in my opinion much more comfortable to play than a les paul which always seems to be sitting too far back, at least to me. Anyway nice playing as i said

I just recently discovered this amazing guitar, and after reading about it, and watching movies like this one, I really want to buy one (even more than I initially wanted to buy a Gibson LP) But when I looked around at the internet I couldn't find out if Yamaha is still making these, and if I can even buy them in a normal shop... Can anyone tell me if they are still for sale? And where? THanks very much

I've been playing for about 9-10 years. Started when I was 10, I'm 19 now.. I've never taken any lesson.

How low are your strings to the frets? Those guitars are the best!!
@snotmale16 жыл бұрын
...hang on - cross purposes - you are referring to the Gibson SG (aka Les Paul) I was alluding to a singlecut Les Paul....! These Yamaha's often just get compared to standard LP's... not the SG...
@soren65016 жыл бұрын
I think they are a bit lower than the standard settings. Its perfect for me right now :)

My amp is a Fender Prosonic with 4-12 cab. The guitar is a 2007 model. I don't know what "stock" means in guitar-terms? Sorry.. The yamaha sg is not very known compared to Les Pauls. Which is a shame , since they beat the LP's in any way: Soundquality, looks, neck and body is superb. It's awesome!

omg how do you get that sound ???? what amp are you using and what pedals?? if its not a secret :P

Is there any fret buzz at all? Thanks, AG
@soren65016 жыл бұрын
The action? Do you mean the volume-knob? In that case it is all the way up..
@soren65016 жыл бұрын
What is fret buzz? There is no remastering, editing, gating etc..

@snotmale16 жыл бұрын
No the SG doesn't beat a Les Paul, it has a thicker sound - the LP, more edgey. I have both and use them for different sounds. The SG can't sound like a LP, but fills same sound space. One thing you can only do with the SG though, is mix 'n' match the tone selections/coil taps to get wider sounds, from a basic Tele to even a reasonable 335 tone. The LP can't do that.

Nope a Fender Prosonic Amp with a 4-12 cab.. And a ReezaFratzitz distortion pedal :)

the only gibson guitars that are comparable to yamaha SG 1000 and/or 2000 are Gibson custom shop models which are very expensive

...no, not for my SG2000s - circa 1986. On full buckers untapped, it is far more mid/darker than my LP...

@rockhard3316 жыл бұрын
i believe you, but the structure of the sg2000 is almost identical to a les paul... a real sg is very thin, a yamaha sg is as thick( the warm sound comes from such) as a real les paul.
@soren65013 жыл бұрын
@gazomguit8490 sry no. Mine was perfectly calibrated, when I got it.

In Euros it is about 2000 EUROS. Dollars? hmm... about 3000??
@rockhard3316 жыл бұрын
youve got it all wrong, a les paul has the thick tone, and the sg is edgey.
