This video deserves 3 million likes for being the only one that compares how silent the Silent Guitar actually is.

Finally a video showing the silent mode of a silent guitar. I was looking long hours for this comparison.

How is it possible that after 5+ years you're still the only qualitative video making this comparison

Thankyou so much for posting this, I can't believe all of these other videos that simply don't have a segment demoing the volume of it UNPLUGGED! I would think that would be common sense given the name of the guitar-okay, end of rant (ha ha). I appreciate how you played your electrics so we could check out the relation of the volume, interesting that they're close to the Yamaha except the 335. MIght just work in my room-appreciate the video!

Congratulations for this great video. Treating the subject of the "silent" aspect of this guitar is very rare on the internet. Very little difference between the "Yamaha Silent Guitar", the "Gibson" and the "Les Paul". The "E335" resonates more with its hollow body. I have a great "Yamaha SA2200" and I play with it without connecting to an amplifier to not disturb my family. However it still sounds a little with its hollow body and it is not quite comparable with an acoustic guitar, even if the handle of this "Yamaha SA2200" is really great. I also think like you that the price of the "Silent Guitar" is justified by the quality of the product Yamaha, as usual. Thanks again for all your quality videos.

Another one - excellent! I'd narrowed my choice to a fairly high end Epiphone Les Paul and the Yamaha Silent so this video was the ideal comparison - thank you!

Thank you for this video. The entire reason I’m considering this guitar is it’s silent mode. I have roommates, and someone is always home. I need to be able to hide in my room and practice and/or write. My Breedlove is completely useless because of that. This seems like it just might work.

Do you think its worth getting the Yamaha, or a cheaper electric for the sole purpose of silent practice?
@takezomiyamoto1390
@takezomiyamoto1390 2 жыл бұрын
the difference is that, with an electric guitar you need headphones and, at least, another device (amp). That's 3 cables, and space for the amp (+pedal if you want effect, that's 4 cables). With a silent guitar you only need 2 cables and headphones, and you already have some basic effects. The only thing that im missing is a built-in looper... but you can plug in mp3 players or an audio cable from the pc headphone output.

Hi do you recommend the guitar for practicing without disturbing the neighboors? The level of decibel of the guitar? Thank you. Gongrats very nice video.

Thanks. I do recommend this guitar. I don't own it so I can't tell you what the sound level is. One thing I want to say is that you don't need to buy this guitar to play without upsetting neighbours. I often practice my normal acoustic at night very very quietly. It's a skill worth having. It trains your dynamic range. So you can still make lots of progress without spending any money.

@@GregMichael How do you practice the skill of playing the acoustic quietly? Do you muffle the sound at all? (eg some people say the put a t-shirt in the body.) I've been looking into buying an acoustic guitar but I don't want to interrupt my flatmates, so as silent as possible

I was curious about how silent they were... interesting. Now curious why u have back of your LP gaffa taped? To prevent belt rash?
@GregMichael
@GregMichael 3 жыл бұрын
Yes the tape is to prevent the damage. I am sure there are much neater options to do that.

@@GregMichael that's the bad part of having expensive things in mint condition. I like to buy 2nd hand so they already hqve a scratch or 2. Then I don't worry so much 🤙

Gibson electric was louder than SLG200. Acoustic was clipping the mike. Thanks, I'd love to know the sound pressure levels of the SLG200

I just got a SLG200S, amazing! My neighbour compalins when I practice at night. Though can't play slapping on it, the pickup just won't register those sounds...Well. Thanks for the video!
@GregMichael
@GregMichael 5 жыл бұрын
Cool. Enjoy. Interesting about slapping. Never tried it. Perhaps the pickup is faulty. Did you try under the saddle pickup only?
@VinnieLeeStudio
@VinnieLeeStudio 5 жыл бұрын
@@GregMichael Sorry about the misinformation, slapping works fine, it's the "smack all of your right hand knuckles on the string to mute the chord and make a percussion sound while doing it" technique that doesn't work. BTW, I just bought some acoustic IRs from 3 Sigma Audio, and loaded them into Mooer Radar, switch the SLG200S to piezo, sounds amazing! Way better than the factory IR on the SLG imo!

@@VinnieLeeStudio didn't know you can load acoustic guitars into IR loader. I use a binary hotone. Will read about it and give it a go. Thanks a lot for joining the conversation.
