Guys, I couldn't find much about the record function here, but I have discovered that audiofiles made within the app can be overwritten several times. So far, I have tried recording bass, then vibes, then piano, and it worked. This is marvellous for me. Few dps give you more than two tracks and I thought this app had just one track. I'm using a Yamaha P-121 and a Samsung A14 phone. Occasionally it stops working, but I'm only practising with the app. Would be awkward on gigs. Also note, the recording level is kind of fixed to a reasonable level, whereas some recording apps give me almost no gain.

Kraft Music, I have a question please. When I record my performance, will the recorded song be saved on my tablet or still on the piano? ... if the latter, is there a way to copy the song from piano to tablet? This is very important to know because I don't have to connect my piano to my laptop in order to copy it. It's easier for me to copy the song to tablet then I connect my tablet to my laptop. Appreciate your response.

P125 I am having all sorts of problems - mainly, I cannot access the one saved song I have recorded on the piano. I have tried Apple, Android and PC. Where is that file (I can play it back on the piano) and how do I download it or 'see' it with the App?

This tutorial was a good starter, but I would like more detail. Can I use a Android tablet without problems? Or do I need to purchase an iPad. would like more demonstration about recording and layering, saving file to play on other devices. I recently purchased a P515 and love the instrument but I am not using it to its full potential. Manual and tutorials are lacking.

This app is available in the Android app store. For some reason from my experience, the developers make their apps run a lot smoother on iOS devices (iPhone, iPads, iPods). I eventually caved in and got an iPad and got them when the previous year's model went on sale or someone did a return to upgrade to an iPad with more hard drive space.

I'm trying to connect my P115 wirelessly via a UD-BT01 Wureless MIDI using Samsung A5 2017 with thus app. I've had zero luck! I wanted to avoid using Ipad as it is not mine but my daughter's and I didn't want her meddling.

I tried to contact one of your Sales Advisors regarding the connections...well...he told me he knows nothing about that as they don't test stuff like that and that pianos come to them sealed, so they do not open them....I swear, sometimes I feel like I live in a fun house...and not the funny kind....

there is good news and bad news about the app for P125 users... good news is after a several month wait, it finally works for android. I have tested it on my galaxy S7 phone and my galaxy tablet and both work. Now the bad news... the version is dumbed down for the P125. Many of the features on the app are turned off. For example, when selecting pianos, I get only 2 choices instead of the 5 or 6 available on iPhone. There is very limited control over things like drums. I was hoping it would allow me to use drums without fighting the awkward design built in the P125. The auto song sheet music feature is also a big letdown. Instead of providing score like I was promised on all the promotional material when I bought the piano... all I get is some crappy cord progressions. That is a major letdown and honestly I feel it was misrepresented since having the auto music sheet music feature available was one of my major selling points for the Yamaha when I was shopping for a piano. I feel like Yamaha just dropped the ball on this app for android and with all the months we waited for it... it was a very poor effort. Now I am enjoying my piano and it does sound and play nice but this app was a major letdown for me. I am not even bothering to turn on my tablet when I play... it just isn't worth the bother.

Agree 100%. I have an old iPad - doesn't work (too old ios), Samsung (only just works - sort of), PC - Doesn't work. Does Apple have shares in Yamaha. Shame because the piano is brilliant.

Help needed! I purchased FMTINES and some other IPAD piano apps but I can’t seem to get the sound of the piano app to play when I hit the piano keys. It’s as if the iPad isn’t connected. There is no change in sound on the keyboard yet I can hear the iPad sounds through the piano speakers. Would there be a setting on the Yamaha P-125 to sync the iPad to the keyboard? I am trying to use it with my P125 but have to say it has been a major letdown for me. Honestly... I don't even turn it on anymore... just nothing about it worth the bother. The app is a major fail for Yamaha.

In the split mode, can you use the Yamaha smart piano app to change voices on the right side of the split point, without affecting the left side of the split point? Also, can you change rhythm patterns “ on the fly” from the app and adjust tempo and volume in the same manner? Also, when adjusting volume from the app., does it affect both sides of the split if you only want to adjust one side ?

I am hoping someone can help me. I finally got the Smart Pianist App and hooked it up to my P-125 (with my iPad). The program has issues connecting to my P-125, and when it does connect, it only lasts for a couple of seconds before it loses the connection and freeze up. I think the cables are fine, so what is the deal with the application? I have tried to connect it multiple times, even erased the app and re-downloaded it to my iPad. I don't understand why I am having such major connectivity issues. I am trying to connect the iPad Pro to the P-125.

Me too. The Yamaha user manual is absolutely rubbish in this respect (unlike the piano, which I love).

The big question is, Is this software a MUST in order to fully control my piano or is it just a luxury? Am I forced to use it to take full control? The question in other words, Are there features to be accessed only in this software? I just can't afford to get an iPad now. Maybe the next year or so.

There are a large number of voices that you might find useful in the smart pianist app which provide more versatility to your piano.Another great feature is you can connect your piano to garageband on ios, which allows you to record your tracks much more fluidly and also access a huge number of sounds. If extra sounds and recording features don’t interest you and you really just enjoy the standard piano sound, i don’t think you’ll miss out much, however there are a number of android devices that are capable of downloading this app so you don’t *need* an ipad or iOS device.

No, the big question is why we in 2019 are still limited to iOS for app compatibility! It was understandable 8 years ago, when Apple was still the go-to brand for music production, but these days they are not better than others, AND this app has nothing to do with recording anyways. Why is there no android support?

No it doesnt. All these preset effects all dissapear when connecting to the p125. It doesnt add much that is really any good. I wanted to use all the synth effects in smart pianist but they all dissapear when i connect to my p125 so im pretty unhappy basically a shit app for me.
