I'm not a big commentor on KZbin videos but I've got to say that this is a superb video. It's crazy but I'm not even interested in buying one of these models! The way the presenter explains everything really makes you follow along and listen and the graphics on screen help too. I'd maybe liked to have seen more playing but I think he said another video is coming soon with that? Great job Epianos!

Dear epianos, this commenter is speaking yhe truth. This has been THE BEST and MOST HONEST comparison ive ever seen. You literally told me what I needed to know to make a decision. And you even gave us the answer in the beginning. Idk if I can order from you while in The Netherlands, but I would love to give you my business. Honestly best comparison format ever. Precisely what I wanted to know. Very good presentation, especially making the app seem very helpful. The clp line seems very good. But I realized that artistical expression is something I will probably not want to miss out on, and i will have to save up for the clp785

This is an excellent video indeed! After visiting a local store I was convinced that the CLP 775 was the one to put my money on and I now wonder how a sales rep pretty much gave it a bit of a cold shoulder when I asked what CSP models were about! Since the purchase is for our kids mainly and also the fact that it is going to be for a long term indeed picking the right model between CLP775 and CSP170 is very important! I do feel based on this video in particular that my kids would find it a lot more fun, interactive and engaging with CSP170 but then I will miss out on CLP775's richer sound and latest grandtouch key action and all the other advantages! And from what I understand that with CLP775, experience with Pianist App would be very basic and limited! Anyhow after all things considered I lean more towards CSP170 over CLP775 but I notice that CSP170 was 1st released in 2017 while CLP775 in 2020, wonder if CSP170 is still worthy over CLP775 today for my purposes! If budget is not a question which one would one buy today if the aim is to have the best technology, future proofing and have the best learning experience? Your help is much appreciated! And once again thank you so very much for videos like these, best out there on KZbin or anywhere else!😊🙏

Thanks so much for your supporttive comment, Bhavik! When it comes to teaching kids to play, I think that 90% of the process is getting them interested and engaged. The CSP range are absolutely ideal for this and the CSP170, in particular, is till a high-spec digital piano which will give them plenty of room to grow into sensitive players. Maybe when they're progressed (and moved out!) you can treat yourself to a CLP775 or CLP785? 😉 Good luck! Chris

Great video, thanks! And now we have two more CSP-range upright models in the market: the CSP-295, CSP-275 and CSP-255. Both with Grand Touch-S keys. and improved speakers as well. Unfortunately, the only the top-price CSP-295 tan match the sound quality of the CLP-775. I guess that´s to avoid cannibalization of the CLP range top models from the mid-range CSP models. Never forget that the CSP range pianos can also be used to learn how to play on the traditional way too.

Great video with clear explanation and important distinctions. I am a beginner and own both the clp745 and csp 170. My two cents is that the CLP is better for beginners simply based on touch. If I had learned on the CSP I don’t think I would have been able to practice 1000 hours the first year as the keys are lighter on the CLP and my hands would have tired out earlier on the CSP. However I am also a fan of the CSP touch since I feel I have greater expression with the heavier keys and the accompaniment depth and selection is a blast.

Thank you, very good, professional presentation. I have rarely found such clear, well thought-out and structured information. Perhaps it remains to be noted that the CLP line is better suited for advanced, traditional piano players and the CSP line better for beginners - if I understood correctly. Thank you again.

I’m thinking about upgrading from my P125 in the new year and was all but set on the CLP745 or 775. But seeing all that the CSP has to offer in terms of the backing tracks and rhythms has just thrown that into turmoil 🤦🏻♂️ Now I have no idea which one I want.
@ePianoscouk2 жыл бұрын
Haha! I'm sorry to throw you into turmoil, Steve! On the other hand, I'm glad that you've discovered the CSP models. They really are excellent and as I say in the video, they bring together the best of the traditional and modern in digital piano tech. Is there any particular function or feature on the CSP range that you'd like us to make a video on?

Hi Chris! It would be very interesting and useful if you ever did a brief video on how the GP Damper Response Pedal can be used to convey different musical nuances like one can in acoustic grands. I recently got the Clavinova CVP809GP and there is an adjustment to the slightly stiffer/heavier pedal feel than other digitals that simply have the "on/off" pedal quality. Thank you. Best, Don

Thanks a lot for this comparison, especially for the detail i was asking myself and interested most: The Yamaha SMART PIANIST app can be used with a CLP model as well. you simply cannot use the full scope as you can on an CSP.

You're welcome, Fritz. You're correct. The Yamaha Smart Pianist app can indeed be used with the CLP models, and quite a few other models too! We have a blog explaining which models are compatible here: www.epianos.co.uk/is-the-yamaha-smart-pianist-app-compatible-with-my-piano-or-keyboard/

great video, so helpful. i wonder about the lifespan of the CSP with regard to compatibility with iPads as ipads and their chargers are upgraded.. remember when USB was replaced by a proprietary new design? Will I be able to plug a 2033 iPad into my decade old CSP?
@paulhigdon69182 жыл бұрын
Hi, Thank you for the great video. I have the CSP-170 and love it for many of the reasons that you mention in the video. I am a novice, and find the styles a great way to play along with chords even when not using the follow lights. A friend is also looking to buy either the CSP-170 or the CLP-745. I Am encouraging them toward the CSP-170 but one concern about the CSP range is that it seems to have been discontinued and the prices of remaining stock seem to have shot back up to the RRP. Is there an official position on this from Yamaha yet? Can we expect a second generation CSP range or has it gone for good. It is such an amazing concept and learning tool it will be a shame if it doesn’t survive.

Who told you it was weekly? xd, you only have to do it 2 times a year if you play daily. I really recommend to you that if you have the money, please buy a good upright acoustic piano, there's nothing better than the real thing.

All nice pianos, but I dont get the high prices models of the CSP line. Its nice for beginners, with an extremly beginner unfriendly price - there should be a model priced like the CLP 725/735. Otherwise, its perhaps a really good line for music teachers or schools. Perhaps also for parents with children, so that it is easier to introduce them to the instrument.

@ePianoscouk2 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do. Personally, I'm a big fan of the Yamaha DGX series and have owned a few over the years (www.epianos.co.uk/songwriting-machine-how-the-yamaha-dgx-kept-me-writing-songs/) but the top-spec CLP models (CLP-775 & CLP-785) have significantly better weighted key mechanisms and emply other high-end tech to really make them more authentic. Check out my long play video of the Yamaha CLP-785 here: www.epianos.co.uk/tv/the-booth-6-yamaha-clp785-digital-piano/ I hope that helps!

The problem with CSP is that you won’t learn how to read music, which is fundamental to being a musician.
@lhommeaudacieuxАй бұрын
As somebody who spent years and countless painful hours learning how to read and play traditional sheet music according to the Russian school, the very idea that something like this exists strikes me as ridiculous and deeply offensive. I can only imagine the bunch of 20 year old hill billy clowns butchering River Flows in you on TikTok to RGB lighting on this and imagine they are peers to actual pianists.
