I mean do we like the reverb or the tasty playing?
@Yupppi3 жыл бұрын
Can't beat symphonic, but the micro pitch shift is pretty nice in these units as well. And even though I tend to use other stuff for reverb and delay, the reverb is really nice and delay does its job. The funniest preset absolutely is the crazy vibrato one. In your wet/dry/wet it would've probably sounded like a chorus though! Just a really wild one. I also forget what the detail was, but I recall pitch shift A/B differ from C/D. One thing that makes this unit a bit tough is that even though it has some useful parameters to edit in some patches, with stuff like reverb your only option is to adjust the (volume) balance. Luckily every sound in this unit is set to sound good from the factory.

Sounds great! Does the SPS -00 11 Stack up tp the SPX-90? Which unit do you prefer?
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
I’m not familiar with that unit, unfortunately. The Yamahas are great, easy to use live tools when they’ve been maintained properly
@superweevel3 жыл бұрын
Clifton, How would you configure the SPX-90 11 For "Live" use?
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
@@superweevel the best sound you’ll get from the unit is running it 100% wet in parallel at line level using a mixer. My rig uses a rack mounted line mixer that my preamp is plugged into. I then use the Aux/FX sends from the mixer to feed effects so I can control how much is blended with my preamp’s dry tone before going to a power amp or whatever. If you Google guitar rack rigs you’ll see people set stuff up all sorts of different ways. But generally, “parallel” is the way you want to use something like the SPX90. That way it’s limited A/D isn’t processing your core tone.
@superweevel3 жыл бұрын
Clifton, Can this unit be combined w/ another effect's processor? I have a Digi Tech 1101 Guitar Preamp, would love to add this to it.
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
It can be! Does your preamp have an effects loop?
@superweevel3 жыл бұрын
@@cliftonwright7081 Yes , It Des
@cliftonwright70813 жыл бұрын
@@superweevel if it’s a line level effects loop you can hook up the effects unit there and it should work great. It would be good to check and see if it’s a series or parallel loop though. If you can’t blend how much loop feeds into your dry signal you may want to consider using some kind of line mixer to run the effects unit in parallel. This way you guitar tone is going through all the extra analog to digital conversion of the effects unit

This way your guitar tone IS NOT*
@johanneschristopherstahle33952 ай бұрын
Usually the FX loop is 100% wet, but you can change that in the edit effects/preset menu. You could even do left side dry, right side wet or assign an expression pedal to control the amount of wet signal you want to mix in...

what do you think about a spx90 vs eventide eclipse ?
@cliftonwright70812 жыл бұрын
Not really comparable devices. The eventide has incredible depth and clarity. The SPX90 has a cool, funky retro grit to it that I also really like.
@soundsokok2 жыл бұрын
@@cliftonwright7081 ok thks. So what would you compare the eclipse to then ?
@cliftonwright70812 жыл бұрын
@@soundsokok hard to say. It does really amazing pitch shift and delay like a classic eventide should but it also has really killer reverbs in it like a lexicon. Basically a really good Swiss Army knife of effects with some really wild creative possibilities
@cliftonwright70812 жыл бұрын
For more recent hardware, the SPX2000 kind of bridges the gap between the Eclipse and an SPX90. Some really killer, clean meat and potatoes type stuff going on in the spx2000. Of course, the appeal of the older units is the thickness and coloration from the analog portion of the hardware

@@cliftonwright7081 that's how i view the eclipse as well . Is it possible though to program in the eclipse such a thing ? => delay ping pong going into a hall reverb ( so i can reverb a bit my ping delay at 50% wet for instance ) all in the eclipse ?

@@cliftonwright7081 ok that's cool. I'm using a Roland fc100mk2 foot controller with the gp16. It's setup for 8 banks of 8 presets. The spx90 is 100 presets but it goes from 00 to 9. In tens. So I have to set it up to work with the gp16 or get another foot controller. And possibly put the bypass patch in each bank? I'm not sure. The foot controller has a bypass switch but I don't know if it can be assigned to do the bypass for 9ther units. I wish I could change midi channels with it or other foot controller...
