I know this video has been out for quite awhile, however watching vec pne's videos step by step really helped me install my starter clutch on my 07 v star 1100 classic. So much thanks to vec pne. Your videos helped me out tremendously. The only thing I would add is how helpful the specific v star flywheel puller I received with the kit I purchased online for $99. Made the install effortless. Also the use of a air impact gun is key for removing the flywheel but without messing up timing. Again thanks to this man's vids. Ride Safe

nice of you to show how the flywheel magically removed itself

told you in video 2 I was using a flywheel puller and the 3 screw holes now if you don't know how to use a flywheel puller then I don't know if you should be doing this , Now I take it you already know how to use one and have or had got it set up and cant get the flywheel off ? or maybe you have and I am just wasting my time make sure you have the nut on end of the crank so you don't mushroom the threads then add pressure with the flywheel puller and give the flywheel a tap with a rubber mallet and it will pop that is what I did to remove it

Haven't watched the whole series yet, but those are a one-way bearing. The bearings are oblong so they grab in one direction but loosen when the rpm of the motor whizzes past them once started. Had the same problem with an atv starter clutch I replaced. It was called a sprag-bearing on that bike.

Thank you for this video! One issue I just ran into though, is how the 6 springs go into the back of the flywheel. All mine fell out when I pulled the flywheel off.

what size and thread pattern were the 3 bolts for the flywheel?
@vecpne
@vecpne 7 жыл бұрын
Ferron Williams if I remember they was m6 x1.0 or 1.25 the bolts I used was in the puller kit I had . I don't think they was m8x1.25 it's been almost 12 months since I did it

Just A WARNING...These so called BigRoller Cams or HVY Duty starter clutches have a BIG FLAW.. the retaining springs BREAK IN ABOUT A YEAR from all the centrifical forces they endure.. DO NOT RECOMMEND USING THEM OR YOU WILL BE REPLACING IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.. USE the clutches with the copper springs that incase the locking cams a little more money but they last 10 times longer

@@SurfinCook352 Hi This is my 3rd starter clutch in 3 years after my OEM one failed.. I have a 2007 vstar 1100 classic.. I didnt want to pay the $450.00 or what ever it was just for the OEM clutch.. I figured I would try the cheap ones on-line.. well they last about 1 year or season.. before the CAM retaining spring breaks.. If you go with a cheap one which i have in mine now.. Make sure It has a metal Zig-Zag retainer.. I just put it in for the 3rd time and the company I got it from refunded my cash for the last one I got.. So The new one I got for free.. So far it has been in since spring and al is good.. But I dont know how long it will last.. If you dont mind spending time pulling your bike apart every season the go with the cheap one.. I am so good at this i can do it in 1 day.. But if you want to spend the bigger $$$ for OEM I think In the long run you will be happier.. But I dont know How Long this one will last .. I also got the Heavy-Duty Big Roller CAM clutch.. replacing it is not that hard.. But Just having to do it every year is a pain in the butt.. They work fine if you are selling a bike and just want it fresh.. But if your keeping the bike well keep your fingers crossed that it last 2-3 years.. They Fit Good and work well .. the problem with the cheap ones is China Metal wears out fast and will pitt and dimple the flange when the CAMS engage which eventually makes it slip when trying to start. and you will have to replace it again.. Just make sure you dont get the clutch with the RETAINING SPRING THAT GOES AROUND THE CAM...
