Two-stroke exactly what I'm looking for😊

They can be a ton of fun, best power to weight ratio out of a 2 stroke for sure. The SUV is just such an incredible machine too, can't even begin to compete with the storage and stability!

Have one and it’s great. Do have a small issue with it maybe you can point me in right direction. First start of the day, starts straight up no issues ( on trailer before launching). Then in the water at the ramp, need 4 to 7 time before it start ( can hear the engine rotating, the shock is on or off) When finally starts, if going too slow or not enough RPM it will die on me and the 4 to 7 time circus starts again. When warm no issues goes to 55 (alone) in a few sec. And if shut it for more than 10 min to relax same as the beginning need a few try before it start. Any clue what could be wrong with it?

To me that sounds like you've got a fuel line or something letting air into the fuel system, so the gas can drain back to the tank, and you have to crank and crank to get the fuel pumped back to the engine. Checking fuel lines and filter for leaks, or just replacing the lines may be a good starting point. I have also had great success changing the choke system out for a primer setup and that makes starting far easier, but that would be an option for after the fuel lines and stuff are confirmed good

@@trythistv could it be link to a weak starter relay too?
@trythistv7 ай бұрын
If the engine is cranking over fine then no, you would just get clicking and no rotation of the engine, or very slow rotation if the starter relay was going bad or failing.

Debating buying one for offshore fishing in Ireland. I know my way around a 2T but the unreliability is putting me off slightly. They cost a lot over here too due to rareness

There is a company that converts the SUV to have the 1.8L engines used in modern waverunners, I'm not sure what this conversion involves, and I haven't had any experience with it, but it sounds like a fantastic upgrade, could be a bit pricy though.
@kontsombos75403 ай бұрын
@@trythistv The easiest and least expensive 4 stroke engine conversion would be VX HO 1.8 liter engine. Those types of conversion involves a whole donor jetski which must be in top condition mechanically so you can transplant engine, running gear, computer, wiring harness and cluster gauge into the suv 1200. For the fuel tank you will want to find a MR1 fuel tank from an FX this tank is same shape as suv tank minus the cutout for the oil tank and holds the same 18 gallons. The newer fx tanks do not fit properly. The MR1 tank also works with the 1.8 fuel pump so its just a few bolts and it swaps out easily. Historically most have dropped MR1s in these.

If Yamaha would remake this with the 1.8 supercharger it would sell like crazy.
@trythistv2 ай бұрын
There are people that do that conversion, but a factory produced machine would be insane.

The redeeming factors are the storage and stability that is not available anymore, there are guys that are swapping 1.8ho engines from modern yamahas into these because of that.

@@trythistv Well, no arguing about the storage.

I've used google translate, and if it's correct, you're looking for the carb popoff specs for the SUV, which is 38-42psi on all 3 carbs, I do apologize if translating has made this impossible to understand, but I'll include this translated back in case it helps you out: Eu usei o google translate e, se estiver correto, você está procurando as especificações do carb popoff para o SUV, que é 38-42psi em todos os 3 carboidratos. Peço desculpas se a tradução tornou isso impossível de entender, mas eu Incluirei esta tradução de volta caso ajude você.

I really like the fact that you took the time to produce a decent quality video showcasing this absolutely amazing Waverunner. I've been rebuilding these since around 2008 as well as doing four stroke motor conversions on them., Adding fishing/cooler racks, and a personally owned more than 20 of them. Over the years. I currently own three of them and just sold one last week. They do get a bad reputation because of the two-stroke motor but that is false advertising in that it is up to the current owner and their monthly maintenance to keep these things running... It is not a condition or fault of the motor or the carburetors themselves necessarily. There is no doubt in my mind that if a person existed who could literally run this just for 5 minutes every 2 weeks and used a high quality fuel stabilizer... That you could easily get $300 to 400 hours out of these motors before needing rebuilding. Most of the SUVs that you see for sale have less than 100 hours total on them and most of the broken motors happen well under 100 hours because of lack of maintenance and poor fuel conditioning habits of the owner. They are meant to run not sit around months on end without fuel going through the carburetors just like the weed wacker or generator that most people have that seizes up on them when the motor is not exercised every few weeks to every month or so

This ski has to be one of the most interesting machines I have ever been able to work on. I'm curious what engine you use for the 4 stroke conversions, because that would be incredible. I see you have some videos so I will have to check out your channel as well. I have a project in mind that'll be on here soon that I'm very tempted to attempt a 4 stroke conversion but it is very limited on space, I think even a small engine like a 900ace from a Sea-Doo spark would be too large. I'm tempted to see if I can find a 600ace from a snowmobile as losing one cylinder might make it small enough to fit, and a fuel injected 4 stroke would make the machine amazing, but I'm going to run it around a little with the 650 2 stroke first.
