Hello meredith, by any chance do you know what shoulder rest tihngy you use for this violin? I have the same violin but i think i need a specific shoulder rest for this..

Mine came with the violin and says "KUN" and "Made in China". Though, if you google search "Kun Shoulder Rest for SV-130 Violin" I'm seeing the exact one for sale on a few sites. Hope this helps!

Hello I just bought one used but it didn't come with a shoulder rest I bought one the sv100/130 shoulder rest but it comes as a 3/4 size is it okay?

Hey! I'm not sure if the 3/4 rest will fit the 4/4 model. I'd recommend checking the return policy before ordering incase it doesn't fit.

Hi Meredith! Really great and helpful video, thank you so much! I'd like to ask you how to record this violin that you mentioned in the video? I know it's kind of a silly question, but I only play acoustic violin and I don't understand about guitars or other amplified instruments. Thank you a lot!

long lost violin hey! For this video I recorded the violin with a Zoom Audio Recorder (it's a really good microphone). For my electric violins though if I'm doing a project I typically use the PreSonus Audiobix which plugs into my violin and then to the USB of my computer.

My effects pedal is technically for guitar, but they work the same. You can use a pedal with this violin if you have the right cables :)

How much of a difference is it when using the quarter inch jack into an amp as opposed to using the 8th inch jack on an amp? Because I want to get a 5 string electric yinfete violin, but it only has 2 8th inch(headphone) jacks, which I would use a 1/8" to 1/4" cable to play on stage along side a bass, piano, drums, and guitar. Should I reconsider buying the violin because of this?

Not necessarily. I prefer the quarter inch because I find that the 1/8th inch cables wear out faster (start having feedback/not transmitting sound properly). I also had to use a 1/8 to 1/4th adapter to plug my yinfete violin into an amp when using an 1/8th cable which can also cause crackling noises when it starts to wear out. Luckily, both of those don't cost a lot of money to replace. There is no audio difference to the human ear between using an 1/8th inch and 1/4th inch.

Nightmare Cat I purchased this at a local music store so it wasn't shipped. However, the other cheaper violins I've reviewed on my channel were shipped to me and did not have the bridge in place when I opened it.

jessica meraz it will sound the same as it does starting at 4:46. the headphones will make it louder in your ears but the violin will still be as loud as it is when I played it then (which is pretty quiet)

Nice, I really like your reviews. I'm trying to make my Cecilio sound better using the effects box but I'm not being very successful. I'm thinking about buying a Yamaha, but I'm not sure that the SV-130 sounds much better. Thanks a lot.

I still love it! I haven't had much experience with newer models lately, but I've never been that picky.

thanks for the quick reply :D I live in norway, and ... it's a bit overpriced.. even after 5 years it is still around 1200$ (taxes included) ... the electric violins market here is veeery little, not much choice, but after your review I think I'm gonna go for that anyway :D ... I just needed a little push :P thanks :D (I see you are a Lindsey fan, that's great, I love her too :D)

@@bjorn84 yes! Love Lindsey. And yeah I was lucky to get this barely used for half the new price at the time. Call around to music stores, you never know who might have one or other models used!
