sigh. I miss 2-strokes. Funny how a 0.25 litre Motorcycle is apparently deadly to the planet and must be outlawed for the good of children and future generations, but a 4 litre Jag or Range-Rover is essential and the right to own and use them must be preserved for everyone who can afford them. Coincidentally. Can you guess which the government are more likely to travel by?
@stoneautomotive3 жыл бұрын
Sadly so.. imagine how incredible 2 strokes would be today with the technology 😎
@Rapscallion2009 Жыл бұрын
Trouble is - you build all that in and you're back to the cost of a 4-stroke engine. GDI and accurate lubrication might help, but by their very nature they're never going to be as clean as a good 4-stroke.

I had a black and yellow one (angry wasp), F reg and had it between 1994-1996 and even now it's been the best bike I have ever owned! I went from a derestricted DTR125R to the TDR250, then a 16 year break, and then got a 2008 Yamaha FZ1 Fazer in 2012, and in 2018 I got a new Blue/Black Yamaha MT10 which I still have! It's been the most natural progression if you consider the style and riding position of the TDR and the MT10, virtually the same :) I wrote to fast bikes magazine, and they published my story about my TDR250 too. I would love to get hold of one and relive the best days again :)

I have owned one since 1989. Very unique bike. When driven under powerband it is quiet and peaceful. But feeling above 7k, power and resonating pipes makes world totally different. I get cold shivers at 1:55 when engine is moving to powerband. Year ago I started looking a new bike. Where could i find TDR250 with 100hp. Impossible mission, but I ended up to 790 Duke. Feels like TDR on steroids. I like it a lot. Still missing two stroke feeling.

TDR250 is probably the most fun you can have rides around town front tyre gets less wear due to being nowhere near the road had an race mapped NSR 250 just after. TDR much more rideable on the downside both were bastards to start when hot!
