My main rig is an evh 50 watt head with a mesa 4x12 which I love but it's so big. For travel I got one of the yamaha thr amps and I am beyond impressed with the tones I can get. for anyone looking for a practice amp this is the only one you should consider in my opinion.

@nights0n9 жыл бұрын
Hi, I actually own one of these superb little amps and highly recommend that you do a video showing people the advanced functionality of controlling the amp via the USB connection on a computer. In case you haven't tried it our, there are several hidden effects available in this mode that you can save to your presets. Also, each individual effect is highly configurable in this mode as well. BTW, you are an exceptional guitarist! Rock on!

Night Son Hey dude, I have tried rigging it up to my computer before but my computer doesn't really seem to like it that much - if my computer worked with the software I would definitely use it. I am aware of all of the hidden effects and parameters which lurk in the software, I bet they are ace. Thanks so much for commenting on my playing it means a lot man. Cheers for commenting man :)
@nights0n9 жыл бұрын
What type of computer are you using? I have an IT background and may be able to help you get that up and running. I've personally used this on Win 7 (64bit) and my brothers iMac with the Yosemite OS. Forgive me if you've already tried this, but before you hook it up, do the following: 1. Load/install the latest version of the Yamaha Steinberg USB driver 2. Load/install the latest version of the THR editor 3. Hook up the THR with the USB cable to your computer and power it on. You'll may see it updating the drivers if you use Windows 4. Open the THR Editor program - it may look brown or beige in colour 5. On the top left of the Editor program, click on EDIT, then select PREFERENCES 6. On the DATA IN dropdown menu, select THR10X and do the same for the DATA OUT menu, then click OK. You will see the Editor change color to green. 7. Now, you can load one of the preset libraries (if you happened to grab it from the Yamaha website that has the drivers and stuff), otherwise you have 100 empty save spots in the editor. To save tweaked settings, do the following. It's a little counter intuitive but you'll get the hang of it eventually: 1. Make any effects changes and then on the bottom left of the GUI (graphical user interface) click the SAVE TO LIBRARY button 2. Select either an empty slot or one you wish to overwrite on the left side of the window 3. In the top right part of that window, you can name your patch name or leave it as is 4. Then either SAVE or CANCEL 5. Before closing the THR Editor, make sure you click FILE, and select SAVE AS and name the library file (I prefer using the current date) and save it in a place you remember for easy access. remember that each library file can hold up to 100 presets of your choosing. I hope this helps get you up and running. :) Laters!

this is not correctly recorded; not doing it justice. this amp sounds absolutely glorious, particularly with the reverb knob all the way up (in hall reverb) with brown II. the stereo imaging is incredible for such tiny speakers. i can only imagine it with headphones (it does do cabinet sim).

hi Cameron your pre set tone is brilliant, is that a pre set on the amp or was it one you set up yourself , I've ordered my THR10X from thomann can't wait, one more thing mate I want either a charvel pro mod or the circles EVH , what's your view please, I can get the EVH circles for £499 from guitar guitar keep Rockin Dan.
@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+Danny Lucas Thanks so much man. The pre set I use is one of my own which I have dialled in and fiddled with many times. My view is if you can't get a Japanese Charvel try and go for a Charvel Super Stock as they are higher quality than the standard Mexican Charvels or go for the EVH Circles. But make sure you try out many Circles guitars because they vary quite a lot with regard to weight and tone. Cheers :)

Is there a way or another pedal that might work? Thanks and great vids
@Grt31pmkin3 жыл бұрын
Just got an x about a week ago. There is an app on whichever app store you use called 'THR Librarian.' With that you can ditch the computer altogether and store and import .ydl/.ydp files and tweak them in app. I had to grab a USB C male to USB female cord, found really cheap on Amazon, to connect the phone to the amp. After that you can import all the patches you like, even community created ones.. Hope that helps a bit.

great Video nice sounds Can you give some tips about your preset 4, if i don't ask to much can you get AC/DC Zeppelin sound out of it? Santana Garry Moore or Slash out of this amp?
@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+Nic Franco You can pretty much get anything you could want out of this amplifier! However for a Led Zeppelin tone, I recommend the THR10C as opposed to the THR10X. My preset 4 is..... Bass all the way up - Mid around 1 o'clock - Treble between12 o'clock and 3 o'clock depending on what mood I am in. There's also a hint of hall reverb on there aswell. The amp model is Brown II. If it isn't quite what your after, keep tweaking you will find what you are looking for. Thanks so much for commenting. I hope this helps :)

how loud is this thing? I'm looking to use it as a practice amp in my living room. I have a Marshall mg30 which is more than enough for what I do. This is an awesome amp I've played through one at the store but didn't crank it up. Thanks for the vid!
@CameronCooper9 жыл бұрын
+Nathan White I wouldn't recommend this amp when practising loudly, its a bit risky as the speakers start to suffer a little bit. If I were you I'd try and give the new Yamaha THR 100 as that comes with a cab. Otherwise the THR10X is a great amp to practice with. I have had mine for just over two years now and it is excellent, I really love it. I highly recommend that and the Blackstar ID Core BEAM if you want a wider range of tones :)

Ok so how is this being recorded for this video? And how does this compare to Positive Grid's modeling apps for the iPad?
@CameronCooper7 жыл бұрын
Chris Strobel Hi Chris. This video was recorded just using the mic on my camcorder. I don't know how it compares to Postive Grid because I have never tried it. As far as I'm concerned they're totally different style of amp modellers but you can do a lot more with the THR10X than Postive Grid

hi cameron! just a quick question. can you get the kind of john mayer-ish sound from the 10x? or i better get the 10 or 10c for that.
@CameronCooper6 жыл бұрын
Herry Mardian The John Mayer is in his fingers but overall his tone consists of a warm, sustainy light overdrive with some warm clean parts (of course). Both of these sounds the THR10X can do very well. One thing I always say about the THR10X is that it may be 'the high gain version' but that doesn't mean you need to use all of it. :)
@NickJardine Жыл бұрын
@@CameronCooper thanks for sharing! I recently got a THR10x. I play mostly bluesy stuff (SRV, Clapton, Mayer etc). The THR10x is definitely good with high gain, but you can get cleaner stuff. What setting do you like for light OD bluesy stuff?

the amp are pedal friendly?
@CameronCooper7 жыл бұрын
Pandu Ageng J It is pedal friendly but it solely depends on the style of pedal you intend to use. Delays and reverb pedals only sound good when the amp is on a clean setting. There's no need to use distortion pedals with this amp. This amp is best with modulation effects such as phase, flanger or chorus. I hope that helps

I watch your videos and thought the thr10x might be cool to get but then I investigated it. here's my take on what that thing is : basically, a very limited modeler with few models and very few storage locations running into a boom-box. my belief is go buy a used modeler like a line6 or Digitech rp like the 360 for about $99. then get a boom-box at the local goodwill for $10. now, for 1/3 the price, you have a setup with way more models, tones, preset storage, better software, and I/O options. I don't know how they can even call it an "amp" when it has no power amp and no way to drive an external cab. my $0.02. why is everyone going gaga over old technology that can be had for cheap? think people, think! I run my modelers into my boom-box all the time, and yes, u have stereo and it sounds great. been doing that for years.
