What do you think of the Yamaha TTR 230? (Correction: it's a SOHC - not a DOHC engine as I misspoke in the video!)

@@MotocrossHideout just my thought Ive had several over they years some new, but mostly used. Im just not a fan of the jacked up racer types with cheap easy to break components. liquid cooled? not for a trail rider - it will break electronics? those fail in not so good a places and cant be repaired to limp ya back. yeah Ive ridden a few of the newer types and they might be popular with those that dont know the old ones are simpler, more robust and easy to fix out on the trail. often a little micky mouse/mcguyver thing to limp it home to the shop where it can get a proper repair. thankfully not all are liquid cooled, but most are and Ive had them. great on the street. very hard to beat the simple carb of an old/vintage bike. my atv is liquid cooled/fuel injected, electronics - ok for what it is, but I dont trust it to go far on ;)

Lol im 270, 6'1" i ride one of these every now and then, it certainly could benefit from springs n oil change in the shocks. Its also alil on the small side with the short wheel base n cabin area. BUT its a cream puff of a trail bike. Super easy to ride around slow.

do you prefer crf250f or the ttr230 as a trial bike
@MotoB1084 ай бұрын
For a starter bike the 230 but if you have ridden before I would recommend a 03-18 CRF 250 they remind me of a 230 a lot you can do newer or older but based off what I have ridden they seem similar but the tourque and horsepower

Is this a good bike for someone middle 40s learning how to ride and just want to ride around my farm and ranch? I'm a good bicycle rider and have ridden snowmobiles for years, but never a motorcycle. I'm curious to try it out and this seems like a good bike for that.

Dude..Mid 40’s … buy a Miata MX5 and put the top down.

Yes. It will be good. A Honda crf250f would be good also. Yamaha tw200 would be too but the back tires makes it hard to go through mud, etc.

Could I be able to ride at 5’2? How hard would it be
@MotocrossHideout3 ай бұрын
The 230 would feel a little bit tall and possibly heavy, depending on your inseam length and overall strength, but there are plenty of people your size that can ride the TTR230. Have you also considered the TTR125? kzbin.info/www/bejne/pGaloqh3itdlbac

@MotocrossHideout2 ай бұрын
It might feel a little bit cramped, but I know of guys your size who still ride 230 trail bikes and like them a lot. There are some mods you can do, and proper riding technique also helps a ton when it comes to being comfortable, especially when standing ;)

250ib beginner bike? Why do they make them so heavy?
@MotocrossHideout18 күн бұрын
Cheaper to make. Most Enduro bikes are 240-250 lbs ready to go with a full tank of gas. Lower seat height makes more of a difference than 10-15 lbs.

If you want to race motocross, then either an 85 or a crf150r. If you just want to trail ride and stuff then get a crf125f

I bought a KLX230R earlier this year. I’ve been very happy with it. I am looking for stiffer spring options since I’m 210lbs with gear.
