I remember Pat Leonard using TX816's to drive the lions share of Madonna's 1980s stuff like True Blue and Like A Prayer. This kit was unbelievable back in the day. Serious FM muscle!

Love Pat’s work. I actually have a Pultec EQP1A and 1176F that belonged to him. Also he used MidiMoog and Juno for his bass work. Great producer and awesome prog rock musician!

I hear the Roland MKS80 a lot on those Madonna tracks, but I'm sure the TX was used plenty too.

Such a nice sound, I love it! And your chords and melodies work wonders.

And for those who can't afford a TX1816, there's the Minidexed! :)

The miniDexed has more advantages than just being cheap. The possibility of installing it in a small case or directly in a MIDI controller makes it even more interesting.

@@peterberghoff Indeed, I have it in a 2U rack on a Zero2W alongside a pair of RPI5's running Zynthian (Access Virus C and OBXD instances) , and a MT-32/D-110 clone on another RPI. (4 in total all wired into a 2U rack, all with screens/fully editable over MIDI)

Lovely video again Espen... have you ever considered the extremely rare FVX-1? I have 3 of these 8-op 4 part multitimbral beasts, and they are FAT.

Thanks! The FVX-1 is absolutely a fun thing, but I no longer have any desire to either get or use more gear than I already have.

Which can now easily be replicated with a $40 Raspberry PI/1602 screen/editor , 40c rotary encoder, and $9 hifi hat

Are these DX7 factory presets stacked together or ones of your own creation? I’d love to recreate them on my MODX.
@EspenKraftКүн бұрын
These are all factory TX816 preset patches yes.

I used to have a TX816 - I never really used it to be honest ( then sold it cheap on eBAY years ago ) - hey ho. Thanks for the beautiful music Espen.

If I can make an analogy, Oberheim OB-X8 is like a TX116 i.e. a TX816 with one TF1 module inside. I'd have to be brain dead to buy an OB-X8 instead of the TX816. Also, it's worth noting, that the KX88 really opens up the FM synthesis capabilities in terms of expression under your fingertips, especially for acoustic type of sounds.
