+Peter Politis I have had my Viking for over a year and it has never failed me . I live in the high desert of So. California with lots of steep climb areas as well as sand and winter mud holes with snow. I have 1500 miles on mine and I could not be more pleased. I don't know why everyone is bad-mouthing Yamahas on this thread.

I can guarantee you that Polaris are junk compared to Yamaha we had no problems with Yamaha . We never replaced belts on Yamaha or had trouble with Honda and Yamaha . If your smart don’t buy Polaris they suck and Can Am isn’t much better

Obviously a yami ad. Can we just say that Po and Ya both make a good utv? Nit picking only makes the reviews less valid. Just purchased a 14 800 vs yamaha rhino and have more people telling me I made a good choice and that Po beats yami in many ways mostly from a service/access perspective. I must say, that I have several yamaha products and not one is 'crap'. Too many political sentiments and not much actual experience from most who responded and offered opinions - pissing matches are not entertaining to most of us seeking good info.

Yamaha need to up their game. Having a single cylinder quad and utv as their flag ship doesn't cut it anymore. I'm a grizzly 700 owner and love it but I am seriously looking into the outlander 1000 as my next quad. Yamaha does have the best transmission and front diff though.

The Polaris system uses no diff locker, making it a simpler and easier to use system. It can also be engaged at any speed where the Yamaha bike has to be stopped. The Polaris system is a locked system so the use of a diff locker in the "real" world acts the same as the AWD system, which is locked.

There is a few problems with this video. First the Polaris On Demand AWD is a superior system because it requires no differential locker, it is a locked system which hints AWD therefore it is available on a Ranger not "unavailable on any Polaris." Second the EPS system from Polaris offers different levels of asist at different speeds, just at Yamahas. And third if the Viking has a 50mph top speed then I would have to see it beat a 800 Ranger in person to belive. Seems like a stetch.

Them saying that rangers only have 11.1 is only for the people that are clueless because it all depends on what setting of stiffness it is set on and which angle it is at because you can change that. I do like the yamaha 4wd and belt system better. I'd take a ranger 900 or 800 over the viking or rhino any day...just my opinion.

OK, so I must say first off my 2018 Viking was everything I wanted in a side-by-side because the engineering is generally the best in the business.... but after 2 years in the bush the poor design and decision making on OEM parts are starting to show through. It's common knowledge electric conduction motors in contact with water is not a good thing but the designers for the fan on the coolant radiator figured if they just put a drain nipple (because they couldn't make it water tight) at the bottom of the fan motor it would solve the problem. Thankfully, I installed a SPAL replacement and everything is rolling now... but Yamaha needs to work out those poor engineering choices that show up only later... when you're 80 miles in the woods with a blown thermostat..... Other than that, I'm a happy Yamaha Camper :)

@@prestonmcdowell1351 Certainly not. The Viking is exactly the SxS I was looking for, a mega torquey engine and an open cab design meant to tackle the toughest terrain at a comfortable pace. What I didn't want was one of those bat mobiles like the Razor... you know, the ability to go 100 KM/HR in a metal cage down a rural road acting like Mad Max. The way I see it, price/performance will always be an issue with OEM vendors but the ones' that survive overcome design flaws and move on. I hear Yamaha has solved the radiator fan problem in their newest models.... which means I heartily recommend Yamaha as the best designed and built side-by-side on the market.

Had a polaris 900 xp and you couldnt get near a 1000lbs payload without destoying your belt. Or climb hardly any grade. And the suspension was junk. Sold it and won't go back. Will be buying a Viking when I save enough.

Here's why I'd go with the Ranger. The Ranger has turf mode, it won't destroy your lawn, or garden when turning...the Yamaha will destroy whatever you are trying to turn around on because Yamaha has yet to grasp the concept that having a permanently locked rear differential is a terrible idea in a work machine.

Didn’t sit outside or get abused. Just a bad coating I guess. Now have a Polaris ranger 500 it does everything the Viking will do and more because of its narrow design. But let’s be honest a Honda pioneer will run circles around every other brand.
