I just bought a 2017 Viking VI with almost every available option. I’m not seeing we’re people say it’s under powered I had 6 people in it this weekend in the snow on the lake and still had no problem getting to 50 mph. Would a 1000cc be nice yes.but for Work and family the Viking VI definitely hit the mark. Rides awesome and trails great for the long wheel bace. And nothing comes close to Yamaha reliability

As the largest Polaris dealer in the US I also sold Yamaha and Honda for over 50 years hands down Yamaha was the most dependable of all Polaris was the worst

I have a Viking and am very happy with it. I don't need to go 70+ mph with my wife and kid in it. For the true sport enthusiasts, I hope Yamaha does (and I'm sure they will) bring a sport model that will embarrass the RZR and Commander. No other brand is as reliable as Yamaha. That's a fact! As far as the tailgate latches go....I like the fact that they are simple, help give extra rigidity to the metal box, and there's no cable to brake! Just my opinion.

Owning a 2018 Viking EPS 3 seater, the engine/drive train performance for the 700 CC single is phenomenal in this machine. For a sport/utility off road vehicle, the Viking is built around some really solid, practical, work focused, system reliability design principles. The Viking doesn't rely on the speedy, slick, bat mobile design dynamics of the RZR because there isn't much point in climbing mountains at 100 MPH.

My grandfather has the camo 3 seat wih eps and I drive it up in WV and it has PLENTY of power it climbs like a mountain goat, that's for all the people who thinks it is slow with low HP; YEAH RIGHT

My first thoughts on the Viking (3 seater) was it was big, Ugly and had to be under powered. I saw one in person and it looked great ! plus quality of the build is unmatched. Dealer said the 700 moved it along great, BUT the Viking 6 looks like a school bus haha and for God Sakes put a Twin in the Grizzly and maybe a triple in the Viking !!! Everyone knows Yamaha has so many motors they could use..... Only way I'm getting rid of my Grizzly is if Yamaha brings out a twin 800-900 for the Grizzly.

I just traded my 2015 Viking 6 for a Can-am Commander 1000 max XT. I do like Yamaha dependability but the single cylinder 6 seater lacks low to mid range power. When under power in low diff lock the front drive shaft torque limiter sounds like the front diff is going to come apart. I can't compare the Can-am to the V-6 because it's a totally diff animal. But I have no regrets so far and nothing but smiles from everyone of my family members in then Max's cockpit!

As you can see Yamaha is still scorned by all the law suits on the rhino. Thus the enormous viking shows wide and long. And now I own a Can Am Commander because I'm tired of waiting for the rhinos replacement.

The Viking VI without a larger motor makes no sense. The added weight of the machine and the extra passengers will make a moderately power vehicle completely week. However, the negative comments towards the Viking line almost always center on it's inability to complete against a full out sports machine. That's not the market they are aiming for. They are looking for the user that works the machine all week hauling hay or working the Right-of-Way and would also like to have some fun once in a while. A RZR 1000 might spank it on the track and a John Deere might work harder, but its really a pretty good middle ground. A little fast, handles mud OK, carries 3 people, large dump bed and dead reliable. Sounds about right to me. I still would like a bigger twin cylinder engine. Also, you can get a basic one for about $10,000, if you look hard enough.

Yamaha is a great brand and very reliable but they need the torque of a big Vtwin. Im glad they finally brought out a new side by side but still in the market they created, it just falls flat with no excitement unlike what the other makers are doing. I had singles before but now I have a Vtwin and I will never go back.

My Yamaha dealership owner in town told me that he was told they are indeed working on a sport model sxs....we will see as you know how that goes..Anyways he told me they were fitting it with the Yamaha Super Tenere 1200/120hp adventure motorbike engine,,,modded for atv/sxs use of (ourse...Lets hope he is right!! What rumors have you guys heard?

Yamaha is falling behind still in the utv market even bringing out this ugly beast! If they really want to keep up to Polaris,Can-am, and Honda they really need to put at least an 800cc`s twin if not they may as well put a 1000cc`s well there at it. Also make a better chassis like a rzr and put a 1000cc`s and make something like a rhino again or ranger and put an 800 or 1000 in it, also make it wider and maybe bigger..

The viking and viking 6seater are ugly and big it has no power it slow it has bad shokes no doors or bucket seats and you set on it not in it and with small tires no drifting or jumping no going fast whats the point of having it .yamaha please make soming better and faster

Kreedon Androl if it’s not for racing it’s for working. I would rather just buy a jd gator because they make a better looking machine that has power and goes fast
