Yamaha Vino 50cc Scooter Battery Change

The battery in my 2004 Yamaha Vino 50 has died. Mostly my fault for leaving it outside over the winter in a state of discharge. I looked around online and was able to acquire one locally for less than any of the online stores. Four bolts/screws and it was out. It’s a fairly simple job that just about anyone should be able to do themselves.

Thanks BDOG. The Vino does sound good. It's a fun little ride. If I remove the restrictor on the exhaust it'll give me another 15 KMH. I've also been watching videos of guys putting a nitrous kit on it. I checked and you can get them on Amazon for about $150. Tempting to see just how fast I can make a 50cc scooter go but don't wanna ruin it. Have you done much riding on Suzi this summer?

@@BruceLyeg 《☆》It would be interesting to see the Vino on a 150 shot of Nitrous. Probly go Viral or something. I remember the TZ250 Yamahas running in the Superbike class at Daytona back in the 80s. They were allowed Nitrous as an equalizer. I try to ride Suzi about once every 3 months. The Summer is kinda miserable if I'm wearing proper clothing🖖😎☮

Hi Bruce, thanks for the very helpful video. I have a 2002 Yamaha Vino which looks much the same as your 2004 machine. One difference seems to be the cord with the battery connector. I was able to remove the old battery, but the connector doesn’t pull out very far at all. I don’t have a new battery yet but I can imagine that it’s going to be a challenge to hook up the new battery to the connector. Any suggestions?

They don't give you much room at all to change the battery. Without seeing it, it's tough to give any advice, but it's probably just gonna be really difficult. Good luck

I never really go anywhere on it, I just ride. It's a great way to relax, just riding around on a scooter. Doesn't hurt that it sips gas either

My Yamaha vino 50 2006 is having an issue that oil is spitting out the dipstick?is that normal?pls

Definitely not normal. Not sure what the problem might be though. All engines have oil pressure and the first place it will come out if overpressured is the dipstick. Make sure it isn’t over filled with oil. It could possibly be the PCV valve. Worst case scenario is the piston rings are too worn allowing oil to get past them and pushed out the dipstick

I think a 50 shot might put it into orbit! I used to have an old dodge that I had to dump a little gas into the carb to get it to start all the time. I filled the washer fluid tank with gas and ran the hose to the carb, it actually worked! Everything is ok here, hopefully everything there is hunky dory

Hey Bruce, I've got a 2013 Vino and my locking fuel cap won't come off. The key turns the cylinder just fine, but the internal clips aren't releasing, obviously. I've tried wiggling, jiggling, even pushing down with pressure to no avail. Any suggestions?

Hey Bill. I wish I had an answer for you, but I don't. If you aren't worried about saving the cap, I'd drill it. I'd try taking it to a locksmith first. They should be able to open it and repair it for a reasonable price (under $100). A new cap will likely be close to $100 anyway. Let me know what you decide to do. Mine is getting a bit sticky and now I'm a bit worried lol

"Clone" is never close. Vespa inspired design may be, but it's original design by Yamaha. U can't never see vespa model same as Vino.
