I didn't understand anything he was talking about since I don't know English and I wrote this using the Google translator, but I must say that your motorcycle is more than incredible and I envy you. I'm going to buy a V Star and I want it to look the same as yours, although I would change the handlebars. Congratulations on such a wonderful motorcycle.
@ford120tractor8 жыл бұрын
Yes John it did. it turned first gear into a usable gear. It did not change the way the bike moved from a dead stop. Fourth was now the same as the old fifth. Fifth was more comfortable as the engine did not buzz. The bike was not faster, nor did the mileage change. Just more comfortable. I did not have to change anything because of the exhaust. You just have to make sure you end up with the same back pressure you had before. Putting a high quality chain on was a big improvement. It did not have to be adjusted all the time. I keeper the chain clean and well oiled.

Really nice job. I think this bike is awesome !! I especially like the retro-themed paint. I'm surprised how good the bike sounds at idle. I have a Road Star (1700) but recently got a KLR 650. Now tiny little bikes like 250s and the SR400 have piqued my interest. I like the idea of the V-Twin 250 but the Rebels are also an option as is a Royal Enfield.

You have certainly personalized your machine nicely. Those strips, the green and the exhaust wrap give the bike a whole different look. Those tires do look quite agressive. Do they create any buzz on the highway? Must be great on those dirty wet backroads. Those reflective jackets work well, Having mine on I notice people having second looks which make me to believe I am noticed more. Those extended signal lights look good. I would think you can see them easier on the front looking down than the stock flat ones. Do you notice the gear ratio changes making a big difference in vibration at highway speed. It really helped smooth things out on my 250. I live in the mountains so I only went to 17/42 which seems to work perfectly to have a decent RPM in 4th at 100 km/hr climbing those steeper mountain pass grades. Cheers

They were ready from the box. Easy to put on, but I had to get a pair of 1 3/4 by 9 inch baffles. The baffles are in out in style. I wrapped the out side of them with fiber glass cloth. I should have videoed doing it as it is sort of difficult to describe. Nice sound.

Thanks for uploading your videos, especially this one. I have a v star 250, and decided to customize it as I grow as a rider. It's my first bike, and my first time trying something this mechanical (I usually build computers, not bikes!). There's not a lot of videos with our bike, so thanks for sharing. This week, I will install my luggage rack. Next on the list is to change the drive to 17/40 and get an o ring chain. One day I will get saddlebags, then I will paint it something special. Noob question: How did changing your exhaust affect performance? I'm still in the process of learning and I haven't gotten that far in my "studies". I can definitely hear the difference.

Cool updates man!! I have a Virago 250 too...I´m restoring it... I´ll put 17T x 38T and a real exhaust too...like yours. I´ll open engine to change clutch discs and make a visual inspection to other engine issues because my model is 97. A big problem about Viragos is the rear shock system. I´m thinking about replace the original with some gas shock (nitrogen) like RFY from china market. What do you think about?
@MooseJawing16 жыл бұрын
I have a Virago 250... Strange to see that you wrapped the back exhaust pipe, as it is not hooked up to the rear cylinder and does not even get hot. It is a show piece. The exhaust from that cylinder goes down a hidden pipe, and feeds into the main exhaust below. I was kind of bummed out that Yamaha would put on an exhaust pipe for show.

The exhaust did not make a big difference HP. The stock engine only make 14 hp so even if you got 20% increase, that would only add 3 hp. So no there was not a big increase. But it does sound nice! No the tire do not vibrate. The ride actually got better and breaking is better too.
