I have same tires on my X4 in 28 inch they have about 1400 miles on them so far no issues. Couldn't ask for anything better

Something that seems to get overlooked on any discussion about a wolverine x4 is what is shown in this video. The stock tire Yamaha used on different rim widths creates a difference of a little over an inch diffference. Diameter times 3.14 nets the circumference. I run a body shop and do suspension and frames and understand how rolling issues can affect the drivability. I measured my own x4 with a point to point tram on the knobs of the tires to get an accurate measurement. Just like the video there was a little over a inch difference. While most are only looking at the height and ground clearance and power, I am concerned about the strain on the power train. One inch difference on a 24 to 25 inch tire nets a three inch circumference difference give or take. This means the 4x4 function is fighting against the different distance each tire is traveling. I believe this explains the harsh vibration felt in 4x4 on hardpack and loose material like sand. This is always a guessing game running different width rims and tires front to rear. Without mounting them and putting on the machine, a perfect or acceptable combination is difficult. My solution was getting 14x7 rims all around with 9 inch wide tires all around. With equal air pressure, the distance each tire rolls will be equal making the 4x4 operation not fighting against it's self.

Those little guys have to look to the side to see where they're going! I remember being tiny like that riding on my Daddy's motorcycle; I wore shorts once and got burnt on the exhaust; I never rode Daddy's bike since then and he died with cancer soon after that; just sayin'; I wish and hope those little ones get to ride with daddy again and again!

man thats a nice setup. i'd like to get those identical tires on my stock rims, hopefully it rides smoother...keep us posted. thanks for the diy vids also, they helped me out with break in service.

Can you elaborate on what you mean on clutch work when adding a bigger tire I have p500 went to a 27 with factory wheel and it feels a little sluggish used to do my climbs in second gear now I need first

Great video, I'd love to put a set on my X2 along with a 2" lift and a good clutch set up.( what ever one gives the best low end ) .

Do you think a clutch kit is really needed with the 28” carnivores ? I mostly drive slow in low range . My stock X2 shocks suck so no fast stuff for my old back. Trying to decide between buying 28” Blackwaters with my stock steel base model wheels or going with carnivores and upgrading to 14” wheels. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Hi. Thank you for all your X4 videos. I just watched the one on changing the brakes which was very helpful. I’m thinking of getting the super atv arched a arms. Do you have any opinion on those?

@@AppalachianMountainRiders thank you. The research I’m doing seems to be that the rear a arms that they advertise that should fit a 2019 only fit 2020 and newer. I’m not exactly sure what they changed from 2020 and newer. Thank you again!

They did do suspension changes in 2020 so that could be true.

Do you have to upgrade the clutch with the added weight? I have a highlifter 3.5 do you think I could run the 29 carnivore? Thanks again man I watch every x4 video you post.🙏
@AppalachianMountainRiders3 жыл бұрын
You don’t have to upgrade the clutch as far as a performance sheave but I would recommend changing out your stock 22gram weights for 18gram with that size a tire. That will help keep you from loosing bottom end from the added weight and keep your X4 happier!

Hi there. Looking into both the x4 and p5. We have 3 young kids as well. Just wondering which machine is the better family machine? I live up in Nova Scotia with similar trails. Lots of rocky woods roads and tight trails. I thought I would have to add a bench seat to the x4 but it looks like the car seat fits well. Im hoping to be able to ride most of the day without the kids complaining too much. Thanks in advance.
@AppalachianMountainRiders3 жыл бұрын
I’m assuming when you say P5 you’re meaning Pioneer 1000-5. The P1k5 is a great play/work buggy but if your main purpose is people hauling then the X4 is the machine of choice. A car seat fits about perfect between the rear seats too! Also heat is a big factor for the rear occupants of a P1k5 where as the X4 is much, much cooler. Power and ride wise they are on par with each other but I found the X4 to be a bit more nimble and not as herky-jerky when trying to easy on the throttle. Both machine are very dependable

@AppalachianMountainRiders4 жыл бұрын
I always forget to mention the price of things😔 These 28 carnivores were $160.50 a piece so not to badly priced compared to others of equal size.

I just put the 28” carnivores on our X4. It does rub a little on the back. I put 1.5” spacers on the back but it seems like the lug studs are a little short. Did you keep the stock lugs?
@jimh.412 Жыл бұрын
How are the tires rubbing on the back? You should be able to stick 30" tires on the back without rubbing. What year X4 do you have?

Mine was a 18 and didn’t rub with the 28’s. Depending on brand actual size of tire is going to very so my 28” carnivore’s may measure in a bit under 28” while some may be an actual 28”.
