Yamaha WR250R, changing rear brake pads, DougZ73

This video is a little longer than normal, but it needed to be. Not a riding video this time, but rather a maintenance video. The rear brake pads on my WR250R, had worn down pretty far, and unevenly. I figured it would be good video the process of changing them and how to prepare and push the caliper piston back on its bore, WITHOUT damaging the internal seal.

Have the same problem with my rears. They are wearing very unevenly. I'm going to tackle this over this weekend. Thanks for the tips on what to lubricate and what right looks like.

I know this is an old video but let me say, taking a screwdriver to your new pads is a terrible idea. Reset the piston using your OLD pads as leverage.

Usually, I would use old pad. No worries.

My breaks were worn straight to the metal. came to figure out how to push the piston back. But i bought my pads from ebay, turns out they are too thick.

If you leave the one brake pad on the piston side, and use a big C clamp, you can use it to gently push the piston back in the bore.

Thanks for watching and commenting. Sadly, soon after I changed out those pads, we sold our house and moved to Florida. Getting two trucks and three motorcycles registered down here is not cheap. I have not gotten the WRR reg'd yet, so not really done any riding yet. I will report back, after I do get bikes all squared away and start riding again.
