That must be the easiest to follow XS set up I've ever seen, no fluff, no waffle and great shots to show exactly what you're looking for, thanks 👍

This man knows his stuff. I was more of a two-stroke man back in the day. My first Yamaha 1975 dt400. Never was able to have a mini bike or go-kart when I was young. That was my very first bike, so you know what they say go big or go home. I want it big how's the tall dude at the time hadn't started developing my beer gut yet. And I explored a lot of trails in fire breaks especially around lake Murray. Later felt the need for speed. So I made a trade the fastest 2-stroke that Yamaha had to offer. Being 1974 Rd 350 Yamaha. Still hadn't developed much of a beer gut maybe a teeny bit. If I was going too fast and saw the law. The lord gave up because I was gone and ducking and there was no video cameras thank God. The 70s were wild and crazy.

Great video mate, really top notch. Helped me tune my xs that really needed some tender loving. Might I add. My bike really was floundering a lot trying to idle while changing the balancing screw for the carbs. 1200 +-50 rpm is the desired rev range at idle so make sure your balanced carbs are holding that while you tune. Happy days ❤

Thanks for all the help. Been after one of these for years, but most I find State-Side, someone newbie has made mincemeat of, and its a sorry lot with jankie, jury-rigged items that need attention. The last one I looked at seemed to have had Jack the Ripper for a fabricator, and couldn't discern if the petrol cell was painted or just bleeding from the violence. Great bit of help on the repair and tune end. Have a splendid day.

Isn't the cam chain supposed to be adjusted with the engine warm and running?

Top off the tank with premium non ethanol. It's the air in the gas tank that causes problems.

I see the electronic ignition (conversion) in many bikes and lots of KZbins. But where do I purchase one?? (In The States)
@hoxtonmoto7 ай бұрын
May be worth contacting Boyer Bransden in UK, they will prob send to US www.boyerbransden.com

Great video, thank you. I have a 1980 Special and this is the 1st vid / forum I have found to set the ignition timing correctly with our orrible ethanol fuel. I had the same problem as you with the Boyer running out of adjustment. Strangely if set 10 degrees BTDC at idle on the left cylinder, checking the right cylinder its about 7 degrees BTDC ? Any Ideas and have you checked yours ?
@hoxtonmoto3 жыл бұрын
Hi, that's really odd - I havent checked both cylinders on my XS. May be worth contacting Boyer or asking forums, perhaps there's a tolerance.

You adjusted the cam chain wrongly, you need to turn the engine over and watch the pin move in and out, setting the nut to when its out at its fullest and level with the nadjuster nut.

Do you have a video of the proper adjustment procedure on your channel. I need to adjust mine.

Thats a shame, thought you could get subtitles from button - located bottom of screen, 5th icon from right!
@richardgrognard63942 жыл бұрын
@@hoxtonmoto you have to go to the parameter icon and look at the subtitles, unfortunately there are only in English
