I wish they sold this tribute version here in the states. As you mentioned I like the look and exclusivety of it, but that reverse color dash is so much better than the standard one too... Well, I'm hoping for 2020 they bring it stateside, I'm in the market for my first bike and the xsr700 is top on my list.

Excellent review. I’ve been thinking about getting a standard XSR 700 but the reverse lcd looks so cool I’m completely sold on the idea of getting a tribute now.

Amazingly this bike costs more than the ordinary version, but Yamaha charges for the "extras" as if they really were EXTRAS - which they are NOT. Customers do NOT get to keep the "original" parts. Everything (pretty few things actually ) is already mounted on. The only extras are the rubber sleeves on front fork and maybe the rad. guard. The rest comes INSTEAD. So why is it so much more expensive ? If I buy all the "extras" myself - it will not only be far cheaper, but I also get to keep the original parts ! I don't know how to call this bike. The thing Yamaha has done here can NOT be called cheating, or fraud - the buyers can clearly see what is on and how much it is. Looks like it is for people who must have this bike, but can not, or do not want to do things themselves.... Nothing illegal, in that, and so it comes for a price !

The high pipe isn't standard, but the bike looks so much better with it.

That exhaust is NOT standard. It will cost you almost as much as the premium over the stock XSR700. Take that into your value proposition.

Like the T7 rally, over priced but people buy it for its exclusively. Personally I think it's a waste of money over the standard version.
