Yamaha XSR700--Rizoma vs. NOT Rizoma bar-end mirror unboxing, comparison, and install.

Long video alert! I've had quite a few questions and comments about my mirrors, so I thought I would see for myself if the Rizoma mirrors ($190 for a set) are really worth more than 5 times what the Chinese knockoffs (Kemimoto) cost from Amazon ($35). @@JJackMoto I find this to be especially true of billet aluminum products. The higher priced "brand" probably sourced it from the same place as the cheap "knock off" anyway. And even if they didn't, machined aluminum is still machined aluminum. The big names just charge 4 times as much and don't include the basic accessories like the bar end inserts (a necessity in most cases).

I like when people do this but I would be interested in the mid range price bracket compared to the likes of rizoma rather than just the cheapest you can find.

Great video. Trying to find these on Amazon right now. Do they have the option to clamp directly on the handle bar? I also am using Protapers and don't really want to go any wider.

I'm not sure about that actually. I'm sure there are some universal mounts that might work.

Does the knockoffs use an M6 bolt? I'd like to like to keep my stock bar ends and just place these on the ends if possible.

I'm pretty sure you cannot use this exact type of mirror with your factory end-weights. The diameter of the factory ends are much too large for the base of the mirror to fit. There may be other options though. Thanks for watching!

Sorry for the late reply. You do lose a bit of visibility, but really not that much, especially with the lower bars.

Just installed with a lower bar too. Do yours also hit your tank? If so have you had any issues with that? They look great so I really don’t want to switch them out.

I had no issues with them hitting the tank. The bars I had on there were wider than stock, that kept them from hitting the tank. Thanks for watching!

How’s the vibration between the 2 mirrors? I tried the Kenimoto knock-offs and the vibration was horrendous.

Hello Edgar! I did not have any abnormal vibration at all. I think the key there is how they are mounted.

Hey! was wondering if you can install this directly on the OEM bar end weights? and which ones are better?

I don't think you can, unfortunately. The factory weights are way too large in diameter for the stem to fit over, at least in my experience. As far as initial quality, they seem very similar. I will be doing a follow-up test ride, should have verdict from that. Thanks for watching!

The biggest issue is that the stock grips are much longer than the stock bars. So you can’t clamp anything into the end of the bars because it’s deep inside the grips. There are options of bar ends that are the same as OEM but they have a diameter machines out of them to allow bar ends to be clamped on.

Because the bars are so wide, there really is no issue with gap spacing.

Are the bar ends going inside the factory threads inside the bars. I have found bar ends from Rhinomoto that screw into the factory threads, but they are $75 for the set. I guess if you save enough over the Rizoma mirrors you can afford the pay for the bar ends.

The Kemimoto mirrors came with expansion threads that went inside the Pro Taper bars that I had.

Exactly! For that price, those things better look flawless. They also do not come with the bar-end attachment, which is ridiculous for that price point.

Neither of them will be any good with standard bars, as the barren weights are much bigger.
