Hi how did You manager to take out the camshaft sprocket bolts, is there a way to lock the engine to do it?
@paulreed60896 ай бұрын
At 7:06 I see a screwdriver poking and scratching around at the camshaft pillow and it's at this point that the real pros pull out a hammer and start whacking the shot outta it and eventually stick a screwdriver in there and start prying and really fudge it up. Thanks for showing us your pro technique but I was taught to read as much as possible in the service manuals before starting to wrench on something that I didn't design or engineer.ive been learning for 58 years and these videos are entertaining but do not try these shenanigans on your neighbors machines.😂😂😂

I like your ingenuity but dude, not lapping the valve? I know there's a good chance it seats well but next time pour a little gas in the inspection hole and see if any leaks past the valve. I hope the valve seated tight for you. Please give us an update on how it ran afterwards

Why is it always the intake valve that gets mushroomed out?
@cloel22984 жыл бұрын
OK but how did you keep the timing gear or whatever it's called from turning when you loosened the nut for it at 2:50
@torquemonster87734 жыл бұрын
At around 1:15 you can see when I broke it loose. With the spark plug still in I gave the ratchet a good smack. The quick turn of the ratchet and the compression of the engine was enough to break it loose

Did you find any performance issues ??

Are these like ttr’s??

Pretty close, I want to say the TTR uses a roller bearing on the camshaft? I'm not certain though

Hello, What was your cause/issue that made you replace the intake valve? How did you know it was worn out? Thanks.
@torquemonster87734 жыл бұрын
Very loud valve train noise. Essentially it must have went a long time without a valve clearance adjustment, and the rocker stud was hammering the intake valve, which wore out and mushroomed both the stud and the intake valve

Hello friend, greetings from Colombia, thanks for the information, I need your help, I am desperate with a solid of the xt 225 in the engine, it is like a cooking machine, I already looked at the valves and the chain of times, help please.
@torquemonster87734 жыл бұрын
Hi there, I'm not sure I completely understand what you are saying, but it sounds like maybe yours is making a ticking or knocking noise? If so, and you have already looked at the timing chain and valves, the next possible cause could be a worn piston or piston pin, which would involve taking the top end of the motor apart.

So I’ve been having a very clear valve tapping sound for a while. I adjusted the valves to spec 3-4 times and each time it starts out with no tapping then goes right back to it once heated up and then stays until adjusted again. It started after running my bike at 55mph for a couple hours with only a few stops. Think I may have warped or hardened my valves but I don’t know how to tell. Someone suggested replacing my valves. Do you think that may be what happened and what would correct the issue?
@torquemonster87733 жыл бұрын
To me it sounds more like a worn out rocker arm, or perhaps a valve seat that's ready to drop. It might be time to open it up and start inspecting things
@davidbeiter92123 жыл бұрын
@@torquemonster8773 Thanks, I'll have to do that. Do you think I could manage a weekend camping trip on it as is? Or would that cause further problems? And about how long did this take you to do from start to reassembly?
@torquemonster87733 жыл бұрын
@@davidbeiter9212 I can't remember how long exactly, I'd say maybe 3-4 hours working at a comfortable pace. A weekend trip should be ok
