I just bought Yamaha YPG-235 on Amazon, all after watching your so inspirational video. I bet you sold plenty of them for this company, they should appreciate you as their best selling agent :-) You have Adobe Audition to trim the sound, don't you know if Audacity is capable to do this kind of work?
@Films1287 жыл бұрын
As far as I know Audacity is very similar to Audition. If should be capable of doing everything I'm doing. I would check their site for maybe a demo download, and test it out before you commit to that or any other software!
@compucat7 жыл бұрын
A bit late, but Audacity is completely capable of doing this. The interface is slightly clunky (effects can't be added/removed in real time, they can only be permanently printed to the track), but it works pretty well. Definitely not a substitute for a proper DAW like Reaper/Cubase/Ableton/Logic/Pro Tools, etc.

Okie Dokie... Hopefully this is the same across all versions of Audition. Under Track 1, click the input listed in the gray bar, and then click audio hardware setup. Next, click control panel. Under Input ports, make sure everybody has a X in their box. Press OK. OK again. You may get an alert that your changing settings, say OK. NOW, when you click the gray bar with the input, click stereo and you SHOULD see all available inputs. Click the correct one for you!

Thank you for your time helping me. This video I watched over and over already, trying to find something I missed? I connected the one end of the audio cable to the keyboard headphones and the other to the computer mic. Then I pushed play record on the Adobe Edition and then playback on keyboard. Maybe I have to make sure I'm sending track 1 and make sure I'm not sending all 5 tracks but I can say this. One time I thought I heard a sound (my song) using Adobe Edition but it was to low to tell for sure. I checked my playback and my record from my computer, to see if their was a problem there? This video says that you have another video that goes more into how to send record to computer and I did see another that goes into it about the same as you do hear, not sure if that one is the one you referring to in this video...Editing on Computer? It saddens me because I had high hopes that by buyinng the 235, it would be easy at last to get my music out there.
@Films1287 жыл бұрын
This is the other video here - kzbin.info/www/bejne/jX3IaoyJgZV5p7c There must be a setting on your computer that is not correct. Make sure that you're set up to record from the microphone. Many sound cards will default to record from other options, and not the microphone input. So make sure that is set right. Also double check that the software itself isn't set to record from another source, other than the microphone. I know Audition tried to default to the entire sound card, rather than the microphone jack. One other small possibility is that you have a bad cable. That HAS HAPPENED to me. The wire from the headphone jack on the keyboard to the microphone jack on the computer had managed to rip internally, resulting in little to no sound coming through.
@MaxwellBennett7897 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the response, I am checking to understand my setting now. When I press record on Adobe and just sing into it I can playback my voice, but when I connect the audio cable to send recorded song nothing happens but this time I got a error messing from Adobe talking about "Master clock? Will keep working at it. Also then I don't have to worry if USB is the problem have a nice evening
@Films1287 жыл бұрын
Do you have multiple microphones? You said you can sing into it and it records, and you could play it back. That made me wonder if perhaps you have multiple microphone inputs available on your computer, and the program or the system itself is selecting the wrong one. If you record your voice and then unplugged that microphone, and plugged in the keyboard to that exact same port, then it has to be a cable issue. Or, perhaps to you have an built in microphone? And again, this may mean the software or system is selecting THAT microphone, rather than the plug-in port? WE WILL FIGURE THIS OUT!!!!

I bought Yamaha YPG-235 and trying to repeat what you show in this lesson. Very disturbingly my Yamaha on max volume does not make full sound like yours on the same 034 style, (or on any style!) I should hummer the keys to get it hearable. And you play seemingly just lightly touching the keys, like it actually should be, I believe, and space is filled with magic waves. Could you please advice what is wrong with volume of my Yamaha?
@Films1287 жыл бұрын
I hate to tell you, but I think you have something wrong with it. Just to double check, you are plugging it in, correct? Not trying to run on batteries? (I assume it's plugged in, not battery, but I've learned to start from the basics...) If I put my keyboard to max, it will uncomfortably loud if I hit a key to hard. I mean, it is enough to hurt your ears. Try this: connect some headphones, and listen. Does it sound full and loud in the headphones? If it does, then the speakers have an issue. If it doesn't, and it's still quiet, then well... sadly i think either way, there's some kind of internal problem with it. Let me know what you find.
@lbwht7 жыл бұрын
I thought it is something wrong with Yamaha 235 that I bought on Amazon, plus I heard like some keys are off tune and that was kind of knocking me down. So I bought the same instrument in Sam Ash only to find that this is exact the same sound. Well, I returned both of them and bought Yamaha PSR EW400 in the same Sam Ash. Paid over more then twice, but happy with the sound now, with light keys and sufficient volume. I don't have now turn volume knob to entire capacity, on it's comfortable level I still have room to go to raise up the sound and that feels good. Now on this instrument I am trying to work with the layers like you show, it took me over a week to comprehend simple rule how to structure them. I still cannot get how can I manage to place different volume on different layers? I recorded 2 layers and foreground melody got suppressed with background cords, could you please specify if there is a way to manage volume on different layers with Yamaha? I subscribed to your channel and learn all I can from all your lessons, you are the best to me!

Strange... There's a few troubleshooting steps you would need to do, if you haven't already. I would try a different source, like a microphone.... if still only one speaker, there's a software situation. Could also be a bad wire or adapter. I had something similar happen, and it was the cable.

Hi, could you please help me with a question about USB MIDI and Yamaha keyboards? I own a Yamaha DGX-520, and it has been presenting a weird behavior when playing music *from* a computer - after some time, the music just stops being played all of a sudden by the keyboard. You can play it normally using the keys, but it seems to be just ignoring the message that come from the USB port. The time it takes to start ignoring the messages varies. I tried the same software with a different keyboard (other manufacturer) and it works pretty well. I have changed cables but same thing happens. Curious fact: When using Raspian in a Pi3b, it plays parts of the music but stops playing even faster (and returns to normal if I restart the Keyboard *or* the Raspberry). Do you have any idea about what could be the cause of this?
@Films1285 жыл бұрын
Hey, I'm sorry right from the start, cause I don't use any MIDI features other than transferring entire tracks to the keyboard. In fact, the YPG-235 doesn't even have midi ports. So if I try to use MIDI playback via its USB connection, it plays, but literally just acts like external speakers for the computer; there's no actual control. So with that, let me just throw out a few thoughts that come to mind- 1, any difference what-so-ever in the actual MIDI track being played? As in, I wonder if maybe there's an encoding issue? What about the software your playing the MIDI on? If you try a different program do you get the exact same result? So many variables, like is the computer doing something it shouldn't when "talking" to the keyboard, or is the keyboard getting hung up on certain parts of the data coming through?? This is a tough one, and sadly my knowledge isn't enough to help.

I'm curious. Why do you record individual tracks to the keyboard and then transfer to the DAW software, rather than to record the separate tracks directly to the software using an audio interface device? Advantages/Disadvantages if any?
@Films1288 жыл бұрын
Good question I never thought to mention! I do it this way for a few reasons... I like the simple instant playback from the keyboard, rather than from the computer. Basically, I can stay where I am while concentrating on the song. If someone had a better setup, like their computer within arm's reach, they might not have that problem. But that helps when I'm trying to play along, I can start and stop and retry as needed, recording right there at the keyboard. That's probably the biggest reason; the keyboard's ability to record right over a track, instantly. Also, the playback of what's already been recorded, coming from the keyboard speakers helps me (again a different setup could help). Oh, also, if I use the metronome for sync, the keyboard won't record that sound, where as the computer would, since it's just connected from the keyboard's headphone jack.
