Wow, thank you. That was an amazingly thorough and well-paced tutorial. Most videos have so much dead space in them, but yours was straight talking. One thing: the background hissing noise is really annoying. I can recommend using Audacity to remove such noise. Thanks again.

Awesome, I've learnt something today & even 2yrs later than it was posted, its a great find thanks for your effort, we need more motivated people like you to help educate the newbs like me. LOL DrenchShaman have some respect for his effort, not everyone was meant for "Showmanship"....this video was well received for the subject matter.

thank you very much for your answer, saturday I'll set the cleareance at 0,07 intake and 0,12 exhaust for both pistons. thanks again.
@JulianJohnstone11 жыл бұрын
set the valves as tight as you can (within the above specs) so you can get more millage between servicing. The clearances for front and rear would be the same, the cylinders are offset to aid cooling to the rear, unlike a slower revving Harley.

if someone is still answering to this video (because it's old) I would like to ask what is this part under the cap at 3:05?I'm asking because I'm going to buy one and I want to change the gas tank place from under the seat to this first place.can that be?
@JulianJohnstone8 жыл бұрын
the silver caps? they are carbies... there might be other forums on adding a second gas tank if you Google those keywords, thanks for watching.
@thenik678 жыл бұрын
+Julian Johnstone no I'm not talking about the silver cap.I'm talking about what is underneath the red cap.

hi, I have a question: For first piston the clearances are 0,07 intake and 0,12 for exhaust?? for the rear piston the clearances are 0,12 intake and 0,17 exhaust? Thanks. If is like that next week I'll give it a go.

here's a question what if the t for the rear cylinder is lined up and nothing is loose if I loosen the tappets up they are almost completely backed out but if I line it up like the front they are loose
@JulianJohnstone8 жыл бұрын
watch the video again there must be 2 different marks for front and rear
@hermanlambert83358 жыл бұрын
yes the rear cylinder is the line by the t and the front is the straight line by itself. I've double checked it when I line it up for the rear cylinder on the t mark it's tight if I loosen it up the adjuster is backed all the way out that's my issue
@JulianJohnstone8 жыл бұрын
is it on the compression stroke?
@hermanlambert83358 жыл бұрын
+Julian Johnstone I've checked it both ways rolled the engine over numerous times

Hi Julian, few days back i got a Virago XV400. Got Some confusions, if you please clarify them. 1- What does 2NT on Chassis and 26M on Engine means? 2- Mine one is giving 10KM/Liter average, is it enough? As i found cracks in the cracks in Carb Intake air joints. 3- What does the three electric grips are for? (In clip at 4.07) I am new so please bear some more questions after these :-)
@JulianJohnstone8 жыл бұрын
2NT means its an XV400, (not a 535) 26M means its the correct motor for that frame.... should get 20kpl, change out the carby boots.... I took the fuse box cover off to gain access easier to the front valves.

Actually i am new for this machine that's why i want to resolve all issues before riding. For better understanding i need to know its exact model, so that if i import its parts they can be utilized without any hindrance. Secondly i want to modify it and i need assistance in following modifications. Adding standard fuel tank just like other bikes instead of below seat fuel tank. Please guide which one can adjustable on this chassis and what type of changes will be made. Please suggest some e-shop for its parts? I want to send you its video and pics for guidance, please share you email for such communication. Best Regards

my_poster_art@yahoo.com.au Its very hard to find a good rust free, top mounted fuel tank for an XV400/535, that will be your hardest task. Ebay would be your best bet Most parts are interchangable except for the internals between the bigger and smaller engines.
