I know y'all are far ahead but incase you or anyone is still curious, they can transfer magic to gauche because of the item in his eye. they're really putting it in the item, and not giving it to gauche directly I guess you could say.

this is my thinking as well. i don't recall any other instances where mana is shared/given to some unless it's through a magic weapon/item (Gauche's eye, Asta'a sword) or taken via a spell (that witch who Yuno fought in the Capital, the scheme these 2 child-stealing brothers were doing)

EXAMPLE: yes basically their own mana gets recharged over time by resting but yes imagine magic items as an empty glass where you can put liquid(mana) inside to fill up as long as you don't use the liquid inside the glass it will remain full till it is used when used they would have to re-fill it with either one own mana or someone else's mana.As long as you are not giving the person the mana your mana supply should be the same to when you charged the item
