@@googleshill9343A sexual abuse scandal has shaken up the Southern Baptist Church. A report issued just over a week ago confirmed that survivors who came forward alleging they were sexually abused by church leaders, ministers, workers and volunteers were ignored or silenced by church leadership and often disparaged. Meanwhile, the church kept a secret list of over 700 offenders. The list was even kept secret from most of the church's leaders. This new report was commissioned by the Southern Baptist Convention in response to a series of articles investigating widespread sexual abuse in the church. The series titled "Abuse Of Faith" was published in 2019 after a six-month investigation by a team of reporters from the Houston Chronicle and the San Antonio Express-News, a team headed by John Tedesco and my guest Robert Downen, a reporter for the Houston Chronicle. The reporters found that hundreds of Southern Baptist Convention church leaders and volunteers had been criminally charged with sex crimes since 2000. The series also detailed numerous incidents in which denominational leaders mishandled, ignored or concealed warnings that Southern Baptist churches were being targeted by predators.

I am not sure it is correct to call Cucuteni-Trypillia culture peaceful. They had quite a lot of weapons - not only bows, arrows and javelins, that can be used both for hunting and for war, but also stone maces, stone and copper war axes, copper daggers and so on, and their settlements were fortified. It is likely that the fights happened mostly between different groups within this culture and not against their neighbours of different cultures.

I think you are correct, only the timeline differ. As far as I read on the subject, It was , Lepenski Vir, Vinca or Danube civilization 7000 BC that lived in well developed civilization, with first metallurgy, Copper, tin ,bronze., stationary farming, meliorations, calendar and script. All that, yet no weapons or gold etc. was ever found ,before 3000 BC. Then yes, the richest grave in Varna , Bulgaria was found to date bronze weapons, gold , precious stones.....,but no tools for farming. Yes after that the first metal weapons and cities with fortification , patriarchal society, very nonegalitarian, fractured society. This is how The War was invented. War ? Different tombs and rituals than in 4/3000 BC when they begin to build fortifications, obviously defeated by patriarchal "group" and they brought different culture but still didn't kill all of these matriarchal farmers, but, like neanderthals and homosapiens, they developed a new culture, which is seen from 3000 BC further on, branching into proto Iberians, Celts, Illyrians etc. But, proto-Indo-Europeans, were first Europeans, in my theory.. From Europe they traveled all the way to Indus valley, spreading knowledge of agriculture and all that fancy stuff (no warfare), met the Indus valley culture which were shorter and had darker skin, they looked like giants to them (Aryans), got attacked from the early nomadic tribes, after which some groups traveled back to Europe, some stayed in Iran... Let me clarify a little. The domestic horse was tamed in the area between the Dnieper and Don rivers more than 7,000 years ago by the “Sredny Stogov” culture; from this culture came the Yamnaya culture and the culture of Corded ceramics and battle axes. From Yamnaya came the Greeks, Italics and Celts and other southern Europeans. From the Battle Ax culture, which occupied the north and east of Europe, came the Germans, Slavs and Balts, and Sintashta also separated from them, who moved from the upper Volga to the Southern Urals, where they invented the spoked wheel and war chariots, and from there they expanded into Iran and India.

Their dominant Y DNA were I2a2a and R1a which are dominant today in The Balkans. What people do not understand is that ancient I2 from the Balkans is not the same with today's I2a , which comes from the Slavic homeland of Ukraine-Poland-Belarus , together with R1a . @@zagrepcanin82 The roots of Cucuteni-Trypillia culture can be found in the Starčevo-Körös-Criș and Vinča cultures of the 6th to 5th millennia,[7] with additional influence from the Bug-Dniester culture (6500-5000 BC).[21] During the early period of its existence (in the fifth millennium BC), the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture was also influenced by the Linear Pottery culture from the north, and by the Boian culture from the south.[7] Through colonisation and acculturation from these other cultures, the formative Pre-Cucuteni/Trypillia A culture was established. Over the course of the fifth millennium, the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture expanded from its 'homeland' in the Prut-Siret region along the eastern foothills of the Carpathian Mountains into the basins and plains of the Dnieper and Southern Bug rivers of central Ukraine.[22] Settlements also developed in the southeastern stretches of the Carpathian Mountains, with the materials known locally as the Ariușd culture (see also: Prehistory of Transylvania). Most of the settlements were located close to rivers, with fewer settlements located on the plateaus. Most early dwellings took the form of pit-houses, though they were accompanied by an ever-increasing incidence of above-ground clay houses.[22] The floors and hearths of these structures were made of clay, and the walls of clay-plastered wood or reeds. Roofing was made of thatched straw or reeds. The inhabitants were involved with animal husbandry, agriculture, fishing and gathering. Wheat, rye and peas were grown. Tools included ploughs made of antler, stone, bone and sharpened sticks. The harvest was collected with scythes made of flint-inlaid blades. The grain was milled into flour by quern-stones. Women were involved in pottery, textile- and garment-making, and played a leading role in community life. Men hunted, herded the livestock, made tools from flint, bone and stone.[citation needed] Of their livestock, cattle were the most important, with swine, sheep and goats playing lesser roles. The question of whether or not the horse was domesticated during this time of the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture is disputed among historians; horse remains have been found in some of their settlements, but it is unclear whether these remains were from wild horses or domesticated ones. Clay statues of females and amulets have been found dating to this period. Copper items, primarily bracelets, rings and hooks, are occasionally found as well. A hoard of a large number of copper items was discovered in the village of Cărbuna, Moldova, consisting primarily of items of jewelry, which were dated back to the beginning of the fifth millennium BC. Some historians have used this evidence to support the theory that a social stratification was present in early Cucuteni culture, but this is disputed by others.[7] Pottery remains from this early period are very rarely discovered; the remains that have been found indicate that the ceramics were used after being fired in a kiln. The outer colour of the pottery is a smoky grey, with raised and sunken relief decorations. Toward the end of this early Cucuteni-Trypillia period, the pottery begins to be painted before firing. The white-painting technique found on some of the pottery from this period was imported from the earlier and contemporary (5th millennium) Gumelnița-Karanovo culture. Historians point to this transition to kiln-fired, white-painted pottery as the turning point for when the Pre-Cucuteni culture ended and Cucuteni Phase (or Cucuteni-Trypillia culture) began.[7] Cucuteni and the neighbouring Gumelnița-Karanovo cultures seem to be largely contemporary; the "Cucuteni A phase seems to be very long (4600-4050) and covers the entire evolution of the Gumelnița-Karanovo A1, A2, B2 phases (maybe 4650-4050)."[23]

However, some argue that the Vaenir gods (who Frej belongs to) might be part of an older religion already prevalent in Scandinavia before the Indo-Europeans invaded. And that the Aesir-Vanir war is a metaphor for something that happened in real life. Because the Aesir gods are often not connected to the boat cult as you say, and the Aesir gods have similarities to some Greek and Roman gods, thus conceivably showing an ancient connection that has its roots in the horse riding peoples of the steppes. That the latter Viking culture may be a combination of an inherent Scandinavian culture with influences from the Indo-Europeans.

But who really knows honestly. Genetic data and logic can only tell you so much. I'd say it's a stretch to call them conquerors, when they took centuries with horses to replace the already weakened neolithic farmers around the area. At least relatively speaking, the mongols, went up against the most formidable kingdoms at the time, covered around 17% of land mass around the world, killed 10% of global population, and it all happened within 1/5 the time the Yamnaya took, with horses. And Russian mercenaries, didn't even use horses effectively, they just walked and talked their way to Siberia, which was occupied by healthy indigenous folks and nomads, and still it took centuries less than the Yamnaya. It seems like at any point from this era here onwards, some of the most brutal and effective "armies" (or however you want to categorize groups of fighters) were all from the Steppe: Scythians, Parthians, Huns, Mongols. Though i wonder how well they performed, relatively speaking, as the enemies they faced started to field more effective cavalry. The only era that i have anything more than a passing awareness of is the Roman Era, and for vast majority of their time in the limelight they were mostly infantry based armies. Their cavalry was used more to harry the flanks, scout and run down fleeing soldiers.

That was in the republic era, when the republic was rapidly expanding across the Mediteranean sea. Heavy infantry îs king in mountains and hills and uneven terrain. In open field cavalry reigns supreme. As more contact was established with people like the Parthians and Schytians, in war or trade, the Romans did start to use horses and cavalry more efficiently. They had to, If they wanted to be able to reliably defeat horse based armies . By the 3rd century AD, heavy cavalry and horse archers were a constant presence in the armies of the Empire. As mercenaries, as auxiliares and as profesionall soldiers.

The Danube Valley civilization is one of the oldest civilizations known in Europe. It existed from between 5,500 and 3,500 BC in the Balkans and covered a vast area, in what is now Northern Greece, Bulgaria to Romania (West to East). One of the more intriguing and hotly debated aspects of the Danube Valley civilization is their supposed written language. Harald Haarmann, a German linguistic and cultural scientist, currently vice-president of the Institute of Archaeomythology, and leading specialist in ancient scripts and ancient languages, firmly supports the view that the Danube script is the oldest writing in the world. The tablets that were found -Tărtăria tablets in Romania - are dated to 5,500 BC, and the glyphs on the tablets, according to Haarmann, are a form of language yet to be deciphered. There are approximately 700 different characters, around the same number of symbols used in Egyptian hieroglyphs.

The Sintashta were also descendants of the Corded Ware from what I have read. It's also worth noting that the Proto Indo Europeans appear to have had several female deities as well and some note of their pioneering horse domestication should be made.
@АндрейДегтярёв-т4р Жыл бұрын

1) I had never heard of the Cucuteni culture, so thank you for that information 2) How do you define 'civilization'? There are specific characteristics for that. In a video like that I would have started with the definition, and then see if the Cucuteni fit the definition 3) The Cucuteni culture do not meet the definition for civilization. For example, one requirement is the presence of cities with highly developed cultural lifeways such as arts, entertainment, painting, music, and complex architecture. The presence of a written form of language is also a must. 4) The first civilization on European soil was that of Minoan Crete. This is not meant to put down the Cucuteni. Great video! Thank you for popularising this topic! I'd like to explain a few moments about the geographical locations of Cucuteni-Trypillia and Yamnaya cultures. First of all, I suggest that the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture should be larger and more widespread on the map, as the Slavic part of the name of this culture - Trypillia comes from its namesake village where it was first discovered and is located several kilometers near Kyiv, and you came close to the depiction of that in your map. To the south, there is another site - Maydanetske and together with the Trypillia site they suggest to us that Cucuteni-Trypillia culture was spread at least up to the right banks of the Southern Bug and Dnieper rivers (excluding part of the steppe from the left bank of the Southern Bug to the Dnieper). This part in your video was accurate. The next thing I'd like to dwell on is the spread of the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture to the northwest. there are numerous sites found up the flow of the Dnieste river, up north and west to the modern city of Lviv. Sites like Koshylivtsi, Bilche Zolote, and Shypyntsi suggest to us that the culture was more prominent and spread up the flow of Dniester and Prut rivers on both of their banks, occupying lands from the Carpathian foothills to the, again, right bank of the Southern Bug. To conclude this part, I suggest that the area inhabited by the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture should be larger and take up the land between modern-day cities on axis Lviv-Kyiv-Kropyvnytskiy-Mykolaiv-Tiraspol-Galati-Buzau-Bakau-Suceava-Ivano-Frankivsk-Lviv, although Lviv may be debatable as there were found archeological evidence of the late culture so Lviv salient may be omitted. Now about Yamnaya culture. As I described the Cucuteni-Trypillia culture area I think there are no broad explanations needed about the adjustment of the area now overlapping. The only thing to add is that Yamnaya culture is depicted as present way too north and east. I'd like to clarify another point - the ancient core of the Yamnaya culture. To be exact I'd like to dispute your suggestion of their core homeland as the Volga River. As with everything in history, cultures have their predecessors. Yamnaya culture is no exception and it is widely known that eneolithic Yamnaya culture followed Sredny Stog culture that evolved out of Dnieper-Donets culture which in it's own way was an ancestor of Bug-Dniester culture. From this logical row of cultures, we can figure out that Yamnaya culture and its core were situated from the left bank of the Southern Bug River and up to the Don (on both banks) rivers. Of course, Volga played a huge role in the culture's evolvement, and as you suggested in the video, they were a more harsh, warrior-like culture thus their expansion to the west and east was an obvious step. The heartland you showed was a core of another culture that Yamnaya later subjugated - Khvalynsk culture. that was predecided by Samara culture which in its right claims Middle Volga with its ancestor Elshanka culture as the location of the core of the culture is still found around Volga; and Afontova Gora and Mal'ta cultures as its ancestors, whose archeological sites are located deeply east beyond the Urals. Modern-day Uhrheimat hypothesis doesn't indicate the area around Volga as the only core heartland of Yamnaya (and Indo-European in total) culture as it suggests that it cannot be identified properly and we have a dozen different theories now, instead, it suggests that the most prominent lands they inhabited were lands between Southern Bug and Volga. Taking into consideration their nomad nature, we can't indicate one specific place. So to sum up - the Yamnaya culture core shouldn't be mentioned and specifically pointed out or should be shown larger in the region between Southern Bug and Volga. TL DR: Cucuteni-Trypillia culture should be bigger. Yamnaya culture's core territory should be either broader or not shown exactly as it is debatable and cannot be identified exactly.

Thank you for the awesome details! Hope more people read it in order to understand how cultures emerge one from another, evolve and interact with each other, and how the successful ones spread (especially culturally, linguistically and technologically), rather than believing in some baseless theories about some mega-men raping and pillaging left and right. Sure, it is likely that there was plenty of killings around that time, just like in most historical periods, but people back then likely used to fight and kill neighboring villages of the same culture just as much. If a culture spreads out, it's because their developments/discoveries, technologies and way of life spreads, due to them being superior and more useful. During the expansion, also, it's not like time freezes for thousands of years, these cultures also evolve and adapt, while assimilating more and more people into them.

I can't take too seriously the illustrations of the super jacked dudes with long hair, dressed with leather pants and other leader accessories around their chest. I'm sure that living harsh lives in harsh lands, hunting, fighting, traveling many kilometers on foot, would make you very fit. It's hard to stay fat with so much activity and possibly not always abundance of food. But it's also hard to be that swole unless you live like we live today: never lacking healthy food, able to dedicate lots of time to exercising at any time of the day (day or night) and with all the muscle building knowledge we have today. Also, the cool, Conan the Barbarian like, leather attires: one thing that you find when exploring ancient aesthetics is that their idea of "cool looking" was often VERY different from ours. So, when the video is for educational purposes, I think it's more appropriate to go with accurate but sometimes silly looking illustrations, rather than stylized versions of ancient peoples.

Perhaps if they represented them with more body fat (like Thor in the last God of War) and less like a guy who does localized abdominal exercises with 300 reps a day. Like you said, they had what they needed to be huge and strong, but they lived messy lives compared with how we can live today. Did they measure time? Did they count their calorie intake? A guy who digs ditches and stacks wood all day and eats almost all meat and dairy is going to look very ripped and muscular in short order. Maybe not Arnold big, but Henry Cavill big is very possible. Especially considering the bone structure these guys appeared to have. Yeah, kind of tired of hearing about the "ubermensch" theory of raping, invading and pillaging left and right, exterminating all the hippie people around them. it's not like the Yamnaya people didn't come from the same cultures that settled around the Black Sea thousands of years earlier (likely from the Anatolian farmers and possibly with some Caucasus admixture). Of course that if you compare the average dude from 3000 BC with the farmer that just came into the Balkans in 7000 BC, you may find a difference in height, but that can easily be explained by the diet, lifestyle, quantity and qualify of food and so on. We know that we are much taller on average than people from late middle ages, so we were able to grow massively in the past 500 years. It is extremely likely that this could've easily happened over the 4000 years period, especially given the developments in agriculture and way of life during the period. Not only that people from these various neighboring cultures were likely very similar physically, but they were likely related culturally and linguistically. What actually spread, outside things like language and religion (that get shared and evolve all the time), was technology; as the developments like carts, advances in metallurgy as well as horse domestication, were too good not to spread like wildfire.

India and iranian cultures are linguistic descendants with cultural ties to the Indo-Europeans, but they are not of the same genetic heritage.

Wherever the Indo-European went, once he took power he mixed with the local populations, Europe is no exception. Europeans are a mixture of three types of population: the hunter-gatherer, the Anatolian farmer and the Indo-Europeans of the steppes. This is more true for Southern and Western Europe. To the north and east of Europe the Indo European mixed less with the Anatolian farmers simply because Northern Europe is characterized by colder temperatures while the east of the continent was further from the Mediterranean or that it was the area of settlement of another population (yamnaya). These regions were therefore less populated than the south and west except in Scandinavia where the Yamnaya populations mixed with hunter-gatherers. In the Middle East also the Indo-Europeans mixed with the local populations except that unlike Europe, the Middle East was in numerical terms much more populated than Europe. The Indo-European populations were one population among others, a minority among minorities. In the Middle East the genetic diversity was multiple Europe, in terms of population constituted the margin, it was in a way an underpopulated territory. The Indo-Europeans did not find themselves facing diverse and large genetic populations. They found themselves facing a single population, either the Anatolian farmer or the hunter-gatherers. In numerical terms they had to be either equal or slightly higher. but their "military" powers allowed them to take power and subsequently to impose their genes. This is the difference between the Middle East and Europe. On the genetic level, 25 to 30% of the peoples of Western Asia, (Iranians (and the different minorities which populate this country) Kurds, the Zazas, carry the R1a. This percentage goes back to 50-55% in Tadkistan, a certain region of Afghanistan as well as parts of Pakistan and India The rest of the latter countries the percentage is 25-35%.

@espoire1757 haplogroup does not show genetic similarity or closeness. Haplogroup shows you that at least one individual has particularly large set of ancestors. Because of this, sharing ancestors (as rep by haplogroup) is not a fair way to deem groups as akin to specific groups with shared haplos.

Late to the party; The criteria for a civilization comes from modern-people who INHERITED a civilization from brave and wilful ancestors. Who now live comfortable lives in concrete cities, with no worries but what to eat for dinner. Civilization starts from a small band of tribes. The Criteria is Will Power, Intent to expand, develop, explore and discover.. and crush all who oppose.

The Yamnaya were far from being the only warlike and expansionist tribe, but they just happened to have the right combination of cultural features (and maybe a genetic contribution due to their tall stature and adaptations for the cold climate) that allowed them to have an unparalleled success compared to the other tribes and civilizations in the world at that moment and after. One of this key features (or killer features) was an unprecedented genius and ingenuity, that other peoples at that time seemed to lack or posses in a very slow rate. It is of very little doubt that these genius came from a culture that had a great appreciation for knowledge and intelligence, a characteristic that the Yamnaya have bequeathed more or less to all of its descendant cultures.

its tiring to hear people claim that the aryans "exterminated" the "peaceful neolithic farmers". since, 1) those same neolithic farmers were a foreign culture themselves that displaced the truly indigenous WHG populations, and 2) archaeological evidence isnt good proof of genocide, and genetics even disprove it. the migration is only proven among the Y chromosome, meaning the paternal line, and an increase in foreign blood in the male lines of populations is very common in non-genocidal wars and even just peaceful migration. which is added by the fact that the lactose tolerance that was marked by blonde hair objectively made aryan men more attractive partners. bronze age people werent stupid, and you dont need a modern degree in biology to understand how inheritance works. being able to ingest milk is a desirable trait to pass to your children. 3) building on the 2nd point, the mitochondrial dna of modern european women is mostly indigenous, while men too carry a significant amount of neolithic dna, especially in scandinavia, the balkans, and sardinia. 4) and lastly, im sick of the pity cult so many history buffs push based on those "poor swarthy natives" as if thats some kind of archetype you guys try to create. those peoples had just as much capacity for cruelty and massacre as aryans, but fate had them suck at imperialism. its this rancid decadent western mindset of having to pamper and baby other races because "theyre so much more in tough with nature and peaceful" than aryans. but the reality of the matter is that peace is only a virtue to those who failed at war.
@jims8828Ай бұрын
All children are lactose tolerant. Lactose intolerance only happens in adulthood. Blonde hair distribution is centered around the Baltic Sea, especially the west part of it. The horsemen from the steppes (Yamnaya happened to be one of many waves of them) mostly had black hair. Life on horsebacks in the steppes sucked compared to sedentary farming and what settlements in the warmer regions delivered. Eventually the governments having made all sorts of Ponzi/Madoff type promises that they cannot deliver decide to allow in barbarians to kill native population in order to get rid of some account holders of earlier promises. It's silly to glorify the invading barbarians.

Yes, as in the video, the ancient Aryan tribes conquered Europe Iran and India (also what is modern turkey). Those tribes took wives from the conquered where they went, hence why a European doesn't look like a Persian or an Indian. Europeans are more like the Yamnaya/ancient Aryan whatever you want to call them, more of that dna, Germanics have the most being roughly 50%, and those conquered closer in relation to the father culture. In additon, when western Roman empire fell the Germanic tribes conquered it. All those mentioned nations share that in common, with varying degrees of relatedness. Germanics and the Indo Europeans before them conquered and ruled over other people's. After time intermarriage erased the differences and they became one, so related to varying degrees. All the Europeans are related, the western ones more closely with eachother, the eastern ones with eachother.

Iron working was introduced to Europe. Iron working was introduced to Europe in the late 11th century BC, from the Caucasus, and slowly spread northwards and westwards over the succeeding 500 years. Europeans didn’t invent the wheel. The wheel was invented in the 4th millennium BC in Lower Mesopotamia(modern-day Iraq). The oldest evidence of wheels in India, for example, dates from 4,500 years ago. The wheel did not reach Europe until 3,000 years ago. In the Old World, one of the last peoples to adopt the wheel were the Britons just 2,500 years ago. Europe don’t even numerals of their own, let alone have an alphabet of their own. European alphabets derive from the Roman/Greek alphabet, even then the Latin alphabet derives Phoenician/Egyptian alphabets. Europeans were hunter gathers until Middle Easterners introduced farming.... Researchers already knew that agriculture in Europe appeared in modern-day Turkey around 8,500 years ago, spreading to France by about 7,800 years ago and then to Britain, Ireland and Northern Europe approximately 6,000 years ago. I could go on and on! Europe was never the base for civilisation-hence cradles of civilisation and not one is European.
