YANBF DS Forwarder Tutorial for Homebrewed/Modded 3DS

Edit: You can use Windows, Mac, or Linux not just Windows, that was my bad if I said just said Windows Edit: Some information about YANBF and comparing it to other NDS forwarders: YANBF doesn’t install the DS games as DSiWare, which allows you to have a bigger library of DS games bigger than 40, which is the limit in DSiware Titles YANBF only takes just a little bit more effort to first set up, but once you set it up all you’ll need is the YANBF application to make the cias. The YANBF application is literally a drag and drop, download, and install to your 3DS kind of process, so if your concerned you always have to add custom banners and sounds every time. You don’t. You can drag and drop your rom into the application and there is a banner and sound already included with the game and that will decrease the slightly more tedious task of adding them yourself. I mean your already having to install the roms on your SD card to even use the other nds forwarders, which requires a PC anyways, so you might aswell. But you choose whatever floats your boat, this is just an option for people who want their DS games to be more customized. And guess what it even works with ds rom hacks, majority of the time

My 3DS XL restarts when I try opening a game with this forwarder. What's happening?!

This was a great tutorial and everything works great! But it does takes quite some time to load the game. You mention that the first time takes a bit longer but even loading the game the second and third time it takes longer than a minute. Is this normal? or is there a way I can speed it up.

@@tobymcd it’s just how this was setup, so I don’t think there anything to fix it. It’s not that bad once you get used it.

Hi, any idea why i’m stuck on loading. I already set the generator directory to generator folder inside yanbf forlder.

@@michaelpratt5920 it goes to the 300 limit. Also if you use 3DSBank, you can add more 3DS homescreens to go past the 300 limit, if you want to.

@@Peppizza73 yea and with rom hacks you’ll have to patch the .nds file first with the rom hack you want before put it in the YANBF application

@@christianjohnson4196 With cheats it depends on what types of cheats they are. You might have to patch the rom before putting it through YANBF. You might have to install the cheats through GodMode9. It really depends on the cheats. With widescreen, the tutorial already shows you how to install widescreen. Make sure you look at everything in the tutorial

i did the download and delete cia thing you said and i dont see it on my 3ds home screen , do you know why? Also to clarify if I go in fbi and go to titles it seems to wok fine , its just not appearing on the home menu

@@midnighttheumbreon Try a couple things: 1. Restart your 3DS and see if that works 2. Check how many games and applications you have and see if exceeds the title limit. 3. What did you use to make your cia? It might be a corrupted file. 4. Make sure everything on your 3DS is updated like Luma, GodMode9, FBI etc etc Come back if none of those work

@@princemannic I don’t see a reason to use Download Play. Once you make the .cia file you just install it through FBI like any other .cia file and it’s on your homescreen. But make sure to keep the rom in your roms folder though

thanks but no thanks. while the custom art and sounds are cool, there’s already another nds forwarder app on universal updater (ironically called ndsForwarder) that does all this except without the need for a pc. you lose out on custom art and sounds however, but i’d rather lose that than tinker around with all this. good tutorial however!

ndsFowarder downloads the DS games as DSiWare (which you can only get 40 btw) and I understand if someone doesn’t have a computer and this is their only option to get ds forwarders on their 3DS YANBF on the other hand goes past the 40 dsiware limit and doesn’t install them as DSIware titles. You can literally get an bigger library of DS games is just by using YANBF YANBF literally only take just a little bit more effort (you literally dropping files in your SD to set it up and you don’t have to set it up again.)

@@MegalonVII also you don’t have to put custom banners and sounds in yourself, the games already have built in banners and sounds in them. So it’s literally drag and drop, download and install on your 3DS

Using Yanbf with OG 3DS/2DS and New 2DS doesn’t sound like a hassle, but having to take the micro sd card to generate the correct rom file path out of the New 3DS sounds like a pain
