Yang-style Tai Chi Walk is usually practiced after doing the warm-up exercise as part of the Tai Chi Fundamental Skills Exercise 基本功 (Jibengong). In our classes, students practice the Tai Chi Fundamental Skills Exercise for about 30 minutes before starting Tai Chi practice.
Regular Tai Chi Walk practice improves one's balance, leg and core muscle strength.

I saw another instructional video where the wrists and backs of the hands were placed on the mid/lower back during the walk. Do these different hand positions have different significance?
@davidbaoyh
@davidbaoyh 2 жыл бұрын
I prefer placing hands in front of dan tien as it helps focus the energy in that area. Another reason is that shoulders are relaxed when placed in front of body. Qi can flow easily in body when shoulders are relaxed.

@@davidbaoyh Thank you for this explanation. It is very helpful. I really enjoyed this hand placement for my practice the other day and was curious. Learning from home with out someone I can talk often leaves me curious about the origins and reasons for some of the hand positions. I am grateful to have resources like this to watch and present questions.
