Ba Duan Jin · 八段锦 · 8 Brocade ❗️ Read the description first ❗️by Shi Heng Yi.
➡️ Instructions on the practice: What to do? / How to practice?
➡️ Copy the movements! In each final position use any type of power to tense the body and make the posture become strong. It's no problem to use muscle power in the beginning!
➡️ Stay in each posture and slowly deep breath! (Full inhalation - Full exhalation) Minimum should be around 4 breathing cycles (any number above is perfectly fine).
➡️ Try to keep the power / strength in each posture steady, regardless of in- or exhalation. Keep Focus and direct your intent in the proper direction.
For what should I aim for? / What is the goal of the practice?
➡️ Easy is: Do it for the pleasure of doing it!
➡️ Useful is: Make the postures become more powerful / stronger by every week!
➡️ Purposeful is: Observe and become aware of your transformation.
The names of the postures are:
ENGLISH / GERMAN:
Opening · 00:00
1) Pressing up to the Heavens / Beide Hände in den Himmel pressen · 01:30
2) Drawing the Bow / Den Bogen spannen · 02:40
3) Separating Heaven and Earth / Himmel und Erde spalten · 05:05
4) Wise Owl gazes backwards / Die weise Eule starrt zurück · 06:55
5) Big Bear turns from Side to Side / Der große Bär bewegt sich von Seite zu Seite · 08:50
6) Touching the toes and bending backwards / Die Zehen berühren und nach hinten beugen · 11:40
7) Clenching fists with an angry gaze / Die Fäuse ballen und grimmig Schauen · 13:25
8) Stretching the body / Den Körper dehnen · 18:40
Closing · 20:05
Why are there so many variations of this routine?
➡️ Practicing without clear intent is useless, no matter which form you choose.
➡️ This video is one of the more simple forms that I practice. Easy to remember, clear to execute.
➡️ You want more beautiful variations, go ahead. But understand the purpose of simplicity first.

Four years ago, I fought for my life and was the winner of that difficult story. They banned me from a lot of physical activity. However, I listened to my inner voice. I felt the need to move, to exercise... to be a winner again. I literally wrote every word of you, dear Shi Heng Yi. I keep all your advice in one big notebook... And I read them every day. Then I watch your videos. And then I do Ba Duan Jin. Yi Jin Jing. And Luohan Style... The way I know best. And I repeat countless times until I feel the energy I no longer have to imagine :) I chose you as my master. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You've embellished my existence. I dream of the day I visit Shaolin Temple and when I can thank you in person. I wish you all the best. Greetings from Serbia by Dušica Wolf :)

I watched this video about a year ago, and I started practicing it every day for 20 minutes in the morning. I've noticed a significant improvement in my health since then. I get sick less often, my body feels stronger, and I have more energy. I recommend this exercise to anyone who is looking for a way to improve their health. It's simple to do and only takes 20 minutes a day.

I've discovered this video last night, and today I've tried it for the first time in my life. I've never felt this type of energy in my life even though I was trying to breathe correctly and checking the video all the time to try to implement the movements correctly at the same time. Everything has changed in my life especially in the past year, spiritually and mentally. And I'm grateful for this video to came up on my field. I'm writing this to come back to this comment a year later to see the differences. It's April 4, 2024, I'm 22 years old and I will be replying this comment back in April 4, 2025. Day 10 update: I honestly cannot believe it's been 10 days already. I got better with the movements and at least I try to focus on the moment more than what I'm going to do next. Horse stance a little bit challenge but I started to understand the movement better and I'm trying to fix it with every day. I sometimes have a little bit knee pain for 2-3 minutes right after the practice but I'm working on that as well. They say on the internet that horse stance or ma bu is actually good for knee pain and knee strength so doing it correctly will solve it in the long run I believe :)

@@hgo95 My knee pain drastically reduced in the past couple of days actually. My sleep schedule and diet was a little bit off and i think that affected my recovery as well. I also recorded the exercise for few days and realized that I was not doing the ma bu as I should be doing. Thank you so much for your comment and recommendation, I’ll keep that in mind. I was already thinking about doing some stretching and mobility exercises without pushing too hard, hope they’ll work out well. Thank you 🙏

When the student is ready the master shall appear. 🙏 There are 8 things I practise daily for my own feminine mastery. 1. Nutrition 2. Sleep 3. Movement 4. Joy 5. Gratitude 6. Read 7. Meditate 8. Loving self care of my physical body These things help me to regulate myself, process challenges, find acceptance and live to serve my purpose. If I feel lost, a short nap followed by a refocus to my 8 once again restores my flow and I find I have the strength to go on. It seems I did not find this practise, it found me. It has always been this way for me. When the season is right, the needed thing will appear. We are heading into the autumn months now where I live and this practise truly suits my 5ams. Thank you for your guidance. I see you. I am very grateful. 🙏

I work with individuals who have intellectual and physical disabilities. We began following this routine every morning, 5 days a week about 6 months ago. My individuals and I absolutely love this routine and we are very grateful to have it. I have noticed improvement in mobility and dexterity in some of my clients who do it most regularly with me. When we come to the end of the routine we use those few moments to feel grateful for 3 things in our lives and the flow of energy is so obvious (eg tingly fingers) that I am able to help my clients understand about the energy in and around us. This routine sets us up to have a great day.

When I first watched and followed along with this video, I could barely maintain the horse stance for the entire Drawing the Bow section, never mind the rest of the forms. But I remember one of your other videos where you said to just do what I can, and I always keep in mind regarding starting something and going all the way. So I persisted and I completed my first session by mostly standing higher during the sections where the horse stance was used but only as high as I needed to. It took many weeks but eventually I could perform all the forms with a proper stance from start to finish. That was two years ago now. I know the forms by heart (but I won't claim to have mastered them as I don't believe I am anywhere near that) and still go through the forms most mornings when I can make time for it. That was the start of my journey to a healthier lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Thank you so much for your teachings. 🙏

I was dismissed from my job a few days ago. This announcement shocked me a lot and led me into darkness for a few days. But I am not ready to give up and so I started searching. The universe led me to this Shaolin Qi Gong 🙆🏻‍♂ 20 Minute Daily Morning Routine with Shi Heng Yi this morning and I am infinitely grateful. During the exercise the tears could finally flow and I noticed how my body started to sweat despite the slow exercises and at the same time an incredible relief came over me. My body, mind and soul were stretched, towards the sun and I feel relieved. Thank you. From the bottom of my heart. I will recommend it to my children so that they in turn can show it to their children. Changing a circumstance you don't like starts with taking the first step and accepting that in life both sides exist, Yin and Yang, and are not mutually exclusive but complementary. I think the wisdom lies in accepting unpleasant circumstances, learning a lesson from them and then coming out stronger. Without my dismissal, I might not have discovered this morning routine, which is good for me. And so all is well. 👍

But I notice that Qi Gong bring more than that, it brings vitality and even resiliency for the practitioner. In my house everyone practices it at least five days a week. Mr. Shi Heng Yi, your style is incredibly beautiful and elegant, congratulation for your perfect movements.

One of the most aesthetically pleasing practices I have seen so far on KZbin. But please, don’t mistake my comments on how beautifully presented this practice is, it is challenging and life changing. The flow is smooth and grounding, the spirit takes flight and lands safely back on earth. Thank you.

When I was doing the exercises I felt like a projection of him, I felt as if I was in front of him receiving his high energy, the movements were so synchronized, with the same rhythm, I felt like a mirror , thank you thank you She Heng Yi !!🙏🙏This is magical

She would be 94. A few years before she passed my daughter, my mum & I started learning qigong from a Chinese master to improve our health. Mum loved it. I miss her mum so much.💞 It was a wonderful qigong family community for awhile.✨💖

I have been practicing the Ba Duan Jin for four months now after two weeks it changed my life completely all my arthritis pain disappeared I can move my hands without running them under hot water every morning and most of my aches and pains from a broken back have disappeared keep in mind I'm 70 years old and try to learn this 60 years ago through an old translated manuscript . No description of what was happening or what the progressions were from one stance to another were unavailable so I didn't learn much and at that time I understand the monastery was closed to outside practitioners at that time . Thank you for making this available and I have spread it to approximately 40 other people so far. My name is Thomas Demperio aka John Smithey. The last two years have weighed very heavy on my well-being , slowly pulling me down a path I did not like. My tear is that of joy and happiness that someone grabbed my hand and pulled me up out of the ever growing darkness within my heart and soul. My dad said only a weak man has tears. Long time ago, I did Qi Gong for some time and I have been trying several videos for beginners but felt bored. This video had all my attention the whole time, didn't even feel the time running. I think that when I saw the image on the video, it challenged me because you feel that you're going to move forward in whatever stage you are right now. I still need to check the breathing. It is rude also on account of the subject matter. To ask someone to give more than what was already revealed is the height of inconsideration, and the hallmark of a certain type of person that has become all too common. Enough was said that any person can ponder what these lines mean and take something from it. No need to 'hear the whole story' It was rude because it was thoughtless. I'm practising this for a week now and honestly, I feel amazing! Full of joy, energy, and I'm SO relaxed! But I think the best description is: I feel balanced (just like you said in another video how someone should feel during the whole day). Also, I'm neither too fast in my actions (like too hasty) nor too slow (like not energetic at all and almost sleepy). I meditate every single day and I also do strength training on a regular basis, and this practise really just balances everything. For me, it works even better than Yoga. Normally, I'm an introvert person and when I meditate too much, I kinda get "too internally" and when I meditate less and do my workouts, I feel too stressed somehow. But this practise seems to be my personal Holy Grale. So with that said, thank you so much master Shi Heng Yi!! :) this video is perfection in itself. Even the contrast of the white snow and your burgundy red clothing simply looks wonderful! Glady, I'd like to see more of such Qi Gong practises with you alone, because if there are too many people in the video doing the practise, I cannot really focus. It's like "there's too much going on in the video". Also, one cannot see the movements so good. But that's just how I see it. So again: Thank you!!

So you have only been practicing from this video? And you gave up yoga? Have you tried the Tibetan 5 rights.?

@@el.don1975 I first had to check "the 5 Tibetan rites" on the internet because I've never heard or read about that before :D So I learned something new today. Thanks for that! :D I could recognize some positions from yoga which I still do in addition to qi gong, and they are great. I just don't do long yoga practices anymore because now after doing gi gong for some days, I found that standing exercises work better for me as I have an office job where I sit all the time anyway, but some positions are worth to keep practicing from yoga, of course. I also switched now to other qi gong exercises which are more fluent. In summary: I just do that kind of exercise I need on the specific day, so it can vary :)

@@stephiepa5751 well maybe just try 6 reps of each Tibetan 5 rights for a week . It only takes a couple of minutes. I got amazing noticed results in just 6 days. But with that said I prefer qigong if I only had time for just one choice.

At first i was like, this is some ballet stuff...so soft. But when i did the whole thing, i started sweating like crazy. The postures takes practice and it works out your entire body, the stance makes your legs shaky. I will continue to do this daily. Thank you for the video.

Excellent back stretching exercises. The horse stance and punching exercise was the most challenging. I loved the background scenery and the music too. Much love and respect to this great teacher :-)

I’ve always felt it’s important to look after this body I’ve been given. It takes 20 mins a day and when you get to 58 years I would say after a 8 mile cross country cycle this qigong video is essential maintenance for my body. I love it ! Been doing it for 2 weeks now daily and can feel my stomach muscles improve. Thank you.

I thought I was alone in the experience of crying while doing this exercise, but after seeing the comments section I saw that it was a shared healing experience. I'm in a very uncertain time in my life & this came to me so randomly. The slowness of the movements & really being able to witness each movement was so healing & grounding in profound ways. It reminded me of my power & the energetic space of love & light that I hold, which connects us all. Thank you, master

There are various ways to practice the time honored 8 Brocade Qigong but Master Shi ‘s unique way really catches the essence, allowing the qi to flood and nourish every cell, organ ,tendon, energy channels with the Universal life force for healing and balance. The secret is in the very slow movement combined with intention and feeling( heart mind coherence) to direct and assist the qi flow. ❣️💕
