Thank you so much for posting this. Took me 10 years to find it, but it's worth the wait. This is pure gold for all of us who like to stay close to the roots of Yang style. IMO, there's today many interesting variations, but none is necessarily better than Yang Chenfu's. I always had and used the pictures, but seeing the movements synched at the same time makes it a lot easier to work with.

I don't know why you don't get more hits. This is perhaps the best training video tool for traditional Yang Style Long Form. It's true to form and culturally authentic. Good show. Thank you.

Agree. It doesn't get the hits because it's not sexy, there's no bulshittoing, no talking heads, none of the things people love so much about KZbin.

Just watched this again for the zillionth time and am amazed how straight, yet not rigid, is Master Zhongwen's back

Excellent! Thank you for taking the time to sync the pictures to master Fu Zhongwen´s performance. Thank you Jonathan Karmel for sharing this.

It's sad that people like him are gone. I have done my best to preserve what I know.

They are not gone! What makes you think this way? "When the student is ready the teacher appears." Good luck.

Came on YT to compare Fu's form with the drawings of Chengfu and you did it for me. Thanks man!
@jassage3 жыл бұрын
Only the major postures are drawn from photos of Yang Chen Fu. The rest of the drawings are of Fu Zhongwen with YCF's head superimposed, so that is why the drawings match up so well. Reference: Fu Zhongwen Mastering Yang Style Taijiquan, Translated by Louis Swaim, page 24.

really Master Fu Zhongwen is the best yang style ive seen.

Well, yea, he's a bit stiff, which is understandable for his age. It's Chengfu who deserves this credit.

Thx a lot. This is exactly like I learned the form and I've got the book, but after having to give up tai chi for some months it got a bit rusty. With this video I can always pick it up again. Great with the posture names too.

Excellent training tool! Thanks for your work. But. I was wondering at 3:29 the count goes from 85 to 26, sort of out of order. Why is there a disparity?
@markdonovan15405 жыл бұрын
They are repeating numbers from when the postures are first performed. The long form has various repetitions. Numbering can change depending on how you count the form: movements are usually 108 (but some movements could contain 5 postures plus the transitions). 150 postures is typically quoted for the Yang style 108 long form. Mind you, I'm sure this excellent performance is not mindful of counting the moves or postures. Good idea to combine the book illustrations with video of the form. Personally, I think it works better if you turn the sound off and concentrate on the performance of the form. You can see clearly all of Yang Chengfu principles at work here.
