@@jerrymarcos68 no they haven’t and it’s just because fewer girls in China are choosing to do gymnastics. That means there is a smaller pool of talent to pull from, and the stronger, more powerful girls are choosing other sports.

For me, this trio (Nastia, Shawn and Yang) is the BEST, EVER! I've never had SO MUCH fun watching a AA competition like I had watching this one right here. My heart was completely diveded. Sometimes I was cheering up for Nastia, but than for Yang, but than for Shawn... I'm SO GLAD that all of my favorite AA gymnast were on the podium!

She had the best salute of all the gymnasts in Beijing. It was a great routine (not perfect) but it is her form on the triple twist that just WOW me every time. The song played very well for her movements and interpretation. With exception of Chen Fei, china does struggle on the floor exercise BUT Yan Yiling really fought to the end. I am happy she made it to the podium because her style and hard work needed to be recognized

She wasn’t robbed. She had less difficulty on beam, less on floor and only a 0.5 edge on vault to Nastia. I believe she also gave a couple of tenths to Nastia on bars. The two with the highest overall difficulty were the two who got gold and silver, simple as that. Yang got bronze because she was very consistent.

I was rooting for my Americans, particularly Shawn Johnson, but I enjoyed Yang Yilin! I loved her gymnastics. I only wish she had more variety in her tumbling passes on her floor routine. The only back somersault was the double pike and other four were just twisting or twisting series.

Everyone gives Tim and Elfie a hard time, but they DO always give the best girls their flowers...even if they do it reluctantly, they made many of our faves iconic with their silly (and equally iconic) commentary. From them, we know China Bars and Beam, the balletic Russians, Khorkina, Zamo, Komova/Mustafina/Grishina (the Trifecta), Moceanu, the Fierce 5...it's not as BIG TIME without them.

Shawn Johnson DOES have artistry, just because it's different than the more graceful gymnasts doesn't mean it isn't artistic. What you're thinking about is subjective/opinion based and the judges can't do that. And Shawn's routine is to the "August Rush" soundtrack, where the fuck did you get "hey mickey, you're so fine" from anyway?

Well it was, the judges thought otherwise. There were actually several vaults that could have been downgraded honestly. There were also a multitude of beam routines that got completely undeserved scores (ahem, Cheng Fei in finals).

Because her bars routine was TWO points lower in start value than everyone else that finished in the top five just about. You can’t have a SV of 5.7 when the medal winners start at a 7.4-7.7 and contend.

I guess for this routine...Im not seeing it...for that third pass, and the fact that she stuck no landings she scored only .05 less than Pavlova. For me if the music was slower it would have flowed better. No variety in the tumbling. I just felt it was an okay floor exercise but didn't deserve a 15.
