Great Part 1 video Yang Yang. I would love to see a video (maybe a couple) on return of serves. This is where I think most players lose points in the modern game. If someone is unable to return serves, they v are v down 6 points before the game begins.

It's so hard to tell the difference between 1 and 4 from the way you hitting the ball. Any clues that can help us tell the difference between the two??

I think #3 is underspin but not heavy underspin. top spin long serve can be faster. #5 is hard to tell, first seems topspin, later seems underspin. Since is a long serve, it’s already to late to judge it from the bounce for backhand long serve, probably can only do statistics of your opponents.

#1 short underspin - includes some side spin too right? #3 long underspin - is a bit lighter underspin and contains some light sidespin too? #2 reverse sidespin - on this serve, when I contact the ball flat, it would fly to MY right - is that correct? #5 long reverse underspin - I have MOST trouble reading this serve correctly - it is difficult to tell when it has underspin, or just side spin, and also difficult to tell how heavy the side spin is.

These was easy to read but you can not read Miu Hiranos shuffle serves, only in slow motion from the side but not from the other side of the table. Good movie, very good explained yangyang, also the idea of reading the serve. But watch out for shen timo comment down here, he is so right -> So we do read only illegal serves no matter what spin is on we will get the point anyway no receive needed :P - you should have add own Racket angle to receive the serve right, but maybe in another movie, I wish I could flip n flick them all.

You are the Boss :) He got the point here: yangyang serves are all illegal is the right answer :) So we do not need to read a spin we get the point anyway, no receive needed and to read an serve if it is legal or not is also important. Look at Miu Hirano, Mima Ito how much effort they put into their serve to make it clean and by the rules correct and yangyang hides the ball full in her hands - she will be so banned for her serves by the Umpire - hahahaha
