Very informative. Good. I have some additions, hope you don't mind. To serve, if you expect your oppontent return the ball to you in the way you want, you may well be disappointed! When you serve a down spin ball to his right hand side, he may top spin the ball to attack you, landing on the place where you don't expect. When you serve a long fast ball to his back hand side, he may control the ball to land on your side at vertically any position, including the positions near the net! (retrive hand technique, his hand moves backward when he receives your serve, that results in a short ball). The additional points to serve are : 1) observe your opponent's position. 2) Try to create un-expected serve. 3) Do not expect what he returns, Act according to what he did,

This is a great video. Not many table tennis coaches or online channels talk about serving strategy. They just talk about how to serve.

4:41 that fast long no-spin ball serve drives me crazy. Service is one of my strengths but for some reason this serve I just can't do. Certainly not on that level. It's a good change up to have. I'll keep working with it. Good video

Remeber that for high level playing, 2nd knock attack becomes the main idea, not 3rd knock attack.

I understand your point , but imagine the receiver being much more agressive ...that would be another game ...
@DavidWong46798
@DavidWong46798 5 жыл бұрын
Yang Yang told me in another video that there are different tactics. If the opponent is more aggressive so that he/she always attack if you serve, then his mind is already preoccupied with the word "attack", and lose some degree of psychiatric balance. His action becomes stiff. In many occasions, he will stand on one side of the table and try to cover the whole table with his forehand smash. In this case, some unexpected serves will take him down easily, as he cannot respond to different conditions as easily as if his mind is neutral. The unexpected serves includes short serves on the two front corners of his table, or a sudden long serve to the far end corner of what he stand. The unexpected effect is enhanced if you look at one side and actually serving to the other side, or look as if you will have a long serve but actually having a short serve just passing the net and landing on a front corner etc. Yang Yang practiced a lot of Tai Chi and therefore she has the ability to do all that variations. She will demonstrate how her waist moves while she hit the ball in another video. That is her Tai Chi as well. With that, she can do a lot of control while those players only hitting the ball with their elbows, arms and wrists cannot do.
