I disagree. Peraza has never been given a long enough leash. Peraza has been given very sporadic playing time. Even Austin Riley didn't click until his 3rd year of a long leash. Volpe realistically still hasnt clicked. Volpe just looks better because he plays every day but still has issues with his bat.

Fuckin A right brotha!!! They destroyed this kids heart - he was nails in 2022 when they brought him up cuz IKF was HORRIBLE and he performed (even though they literally seemed to go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible). The playoffs in 2022 when IKF was soooooo bad he was literally unplayable in the ALDS, here comes Peraza making that infield impenetrable. Then comes the ALCS - obviously Peraza starts right? Cuz Boone actually said that IKF was unplayable in the ALDS and the pressure was getting to him and the pressure would only be greater in the ALCS right? Nope - it's fuckin IKF (who made the error in the most critical moment at 2nd in game 4 allowing the Astros to take the lead in the only game the Yankees were winning)! I'm not passionate about this at all and have no feelings concerning this subject

I get the point and I’m not gonna die on this hill, but in terms of the Yankees not giving him enough of an opportunity due to performance…Cabrera’s ops is only 30 points higher than peraza’s. Let’s not act like the Yankees front office doesn’t play favorites. Obviously that’s fine given how Cabrera adds value, but he was given every opportunity to showcase and build on that value. Peraza hasn’t gotten anywhere near the look that a guy like Cabrera has gotten

You told the truth - no sample size and never given a proper chance. If they let him go, I hope he flourishes somewhere else. The biggest skil of being a manager, scout or executive is being able to recognize talent. If the team wants a bregman then get him and let peraza and Cabrera be the infield back ups. DJ's time is done and the only people who can't see that are the Yankees. If you the team doesn't make a move right away, Peraza can play second and if you need to make a move then you can do it in June or July.

The sad thing about this episode is that Peraza as was stated has “flashes” of competency in hitting. Never given a chance. But we do accept Volpe’s multiple “flashes” of competency in hitting the past two complete years.

Peraza has been jerked around for the past 2 years. If it wasn’t for Anthony Volpe beating him out 2 years ago, he would’ve been the starting shortstop. I’m pulling for Peraza to make the team. Hope he breaks through!!!

The damn Yankees have NEVER been good at growing and using their prospects, even back in the 90's when they were winning. They just bought the best players and won. I would love to see some of these kids get the chance to play and if the Yankees are never going to use them then let them go somewhere where they can play.

I’m sorry I love this podcast but i totally disagree with Ryan saying that he has been given 74 games to prove himself. I mean 74 games scattered since 2022 throughout the past 2-3 years. That’s not a way to prove yourself. It’s like putting him just as a pinch hitter. Wrong way to assess Peraza. You know I’m a big ass Yankee fan but I hope he is given an opportunity somewhere else and I wouldn’t be surprised if someone like an Alex Cora scoots him and makes him an elite player. I’m actually hoping for it. The injustice on Peraza is just amazingly wrong. He won as far as im concerned the shortstop job when in 2022 he played n the last month of the season and played excellent offense and defense against the Astros. Peraza has never really been given a chance. The competition between Volpe and Peraza should never have happened especially knowing that Volpe serves better as a second baseman and Peraza as a pure shortstop. Smh

He hasn't exactly lit up AAA either. How are the Yankees supposed to give him everyday reps with the big club when he only hit .246 and slugged under .400 with AAA. Ryan is right. He has to take it. No one is going to give it to him

@ well of course he has no choice now dude. Or else he is gone. They used him wrong from the beginning. The organization should never have done a competition of who could be shortstop. I believe we got the wrong shortstop in that position. Let’s hope Volpe can bring it up a notch. But I see him as nothing but an average to maybe an above average player… that’s it. Torres should have been traded 2 years ago when he did falter and our Volpe at second and peraza at short. Volpe has a noodle arm at short. Just saying.

@ listen I’m a Yankee fan and I still don’t know how he was able to get a gold glove at ss. And I saw every game. I root for him but in all honesty he is way too overrated as a player. So yeah I do know what I’m talking about. He commits the worst errors when it’s important. That’s what I see.

This is unfortunate though because years ago they deemed him untouchable when Luis Castillo was on the market and his first time got up in 22 he did do good. Last year he was injured but I do agree he’ll have to go to a bad team to play every day. With that being said right now he’s better than DJ but because of the contract.

Countless opportunities is a stretch. I watched Volpe and Peraza in the same lineup at the same time and volpe was terrible in that same stretch. He also got time to work out of his slump. But still i don't think he's a victim. If he don't workout here he will get a chance somewhere else. I hope he gets a real shot here but it is what it is.

I see Peraza and Cabrera making it in MLB as solid players, but I think it might happen somewhere else. I think they were going to give him a chance last year and he got injured again coming out of ST.

WHICH 15 Million PLAYER would rather have I want 1 that contributes not just sit the bench for free

I think they need to let Peraza play. They let volpe play full time in his first season and he hit 209.

Peraza has the tools, he has performed well the 1st large chance he had before his injury and deserves a shot at 3rd base. Peraza can do the job and unless you give him a shot you might lose out on a great player, his value will fall rapidly if no chance is given. We have DJ, we have Oswaldo and Jazz if necessary, although Jazz should stay at 2nd base. Unless the Yankees are sure to get a guy who can hit better and field better, I would remain with what we have for now.

I think it’s really dangerous to start talking yourself into a sense of urgency that goes a little past reality. I usually appreciate your takes and 8 agree that they need to upgrade the last IF spot - how is another question as none of us knows the asking price on an6 trades and tbh none of the free agents make a lot of sense and yes a lot of that has to do with QO penalties, which suck. Throwing money around for the hell of it - signing Flaherty ex - makes no sense unless it’s absolutely necessary to make the move you NEED to do. What’s that? - don’t know though your tone is only justified by a move to add someone like JRam or Correa Donovan is not at tha5 level though he is a good player and a solid fit I’m NOT trading Gil for him and likely not Schmidt either If StL would even do that and I still don’t see wh6 they would, they can take several top minor league guys who aren’t in the current window for the Yanks

The Yankees dicked over peraza so bad , he got one long extended period at the end of 2021 , for 5 weeks and he hit .306 during that run , then he raked in the minors all of 2022 it took 3 months to late to get a call up jjsy cus the fans were loud cus we had the all almighty Ikf who they chose over there best prospect while he was raking all year , and since then when he does get called up he doesn't start and never plays enough to rhythm going , if they woulda kept him as a priority in 2021 or called him up in June and started him over ikf he woulda flourished

Weve seen volpe 2 full seasons. You making a comparison of 2 full seasons to 70 games is straight up foolish. Yeah volpe beat out peraza in spring training thats about it. I also remember peraza being up two seasons ago and volpe playing so bad they almost benched him for peraza. But when volpe slumps he gets time to get out of his slump because he plays more than 70 games. But when you play 2 whole seasons you get to work your way out of bad stretches. Peraza also had a 10 game on base streak when they were in the lineup together and volpe was struggling. But when one guy has 230 plallte appearances and one guy has almost 1200 how can you compare two players? Look at how much better Austin wells played once he became our main catcher over trevinio. He was much better with consistent playing time. Volpe has been below average offensive for 2 seasons. Peraza has been belowe league average offensive for not even a half season. I dont think you know how logic works. I dont care about scouts or whatever nonsense arguement you can come up with. If you don't understand that prospects need to play then you don't understand baseball. I dont even think you know what a contradiction is because I've said the same thing over snd over and you still don't understand basic English. Volpe got the red carpet rolled our for him and has no been that impressive yet we consider him a lock to make the roster. Peraza hasn't been that impressive yet hes an afterthought.
