I'm a Phillies fan who tunes in to Derek's show every day as I do with Mike Francesa's podcast. I appreciate the hard work Derek puts into his podcasts/shows event night and every day. I wish we had a podcast like this in the Philly area covering the Phillies. All I'll say, as Phillies fans await the Phillies to collapse again in the playoffs this year, the Yankees have a lot of issues to address. The Phillies just traded for Austin Hays from the Orioles. Will he help, don't know. It's nice Derek always finds a positive to say about the game, but the bottom line is the Yankees starting pitching and the bullpen is faltering at the wrong time. A team should be able to win scoring 7 runs. However, it's not just the pitching, the lineup isn't getting clutch hits, and that's a major problem. Volpe hitting a home run is nice, but not hitting in crucial situations is an issue. I'll share a fond memory of me and my dad. My dad was a huge Yankees fan and he loved Mickey Mantle. In 1964, when the Phillies choked on winning the pennant, my father had World Series tickets for the Phillies and Yankees. Yes, that was how certain Philly was that the Phillies would win the Pennant. In 1978 our family was in front of the TV and watched the 1-game playoff between the Yankees and the Red Sox. Our house erupted when Bucky Dent hit that 3-run homerun. Jackson hit the solo homerun that meant the difference in the win as the Yankees won 5 - 4. After the Yankees won the game, we were the only house in my South Philly block that celebrated that win. Wouldn't it be nice to see someone hit home runs that wind up contributing to winning or winning the game? I know Judge hit a 3 run homer in this loss, but the team doesn't get timely/clutch hits and that's a problem. Why is Lemahieu pinch-hitting? He isn't hitting. Doesn't the Yankees have anyone else on the bench to pinch-hit? I know the Phillies are going to eventually lose in the playoffs no matter how many regular season games they win this season. It's like it was ordained. Yet, to see the Yankees do the same thing every year is disheartening. The franchise is iconic and legendary with the most World Series in the History of baseball, but for the last 15 years, the Phillies have managed to appear in the World Series and the Yankees haven't. I hope that changes for Yankees fans as I'd like to see another Yankees - Phillies World Series. Keep up the great work Derek.

Nestor just isn't that good. He has far overperformed with metrics for years. Soft tossing lefties don't work anymore, 92 isn't gonna get by anyone consistently. Nestor has to be too perfect with location, and that's not a good recipe. Also, how many more games do we have to watch Clay blow before someone asks Boone or Cashman I'd they need a closer. Soft Media.

Hey Derek, great sow for the fans of a bad team. Let me clear up that "hits to many bats" remark. I heard Yogi say that back when he was the Yankees manager. They had a young pitcher named Jay Howel that was being groomed to be the closer but wasn't doing too well. A reporter asked Yogi about Howel's blazing fastball and sharp curve and Yogi responded "yeah he's got great stuff but he hits a lotta bats"

I would like to see the top of the lineup as: 1. Volpe 2. Dominguez 3. Soto 4. Judge 5. Stanton 6-9 who the hell cares, no one can hit, and when they do no one is on base and it leads to nothing. The Yankees are the KINGS of grounding into double plays. I would love to see them add a bat who makes contact, who has a good avg with runners on base. This is the last year I will follow the Yankees every game if they do not pull there heads out of their ass. When they scored with the Judge homerun and lead 7-4, I txt my kid and said lets see them hold it, very next inning it is 7-6. I was done, turned it off. 35 years as a fan and the past 6-7 years has been so hard to believe in this team.
