Goldschmidt too old. Yankees have no business signing players north of 30. Rickey Henderson was one of my favorite players to watch. R.I.P.

I think he will do well with us probably 250 25 hrs 65 RBI s and 11 or 12 steals and good defense. Go Yankees 🗽🗽🗽

I heard he has a new swing that's why he struggled first half but picked it up n finished strong.

Highly unlikely. Since 2022: Avg 317 > 268 > 245 HR. 35 > 25 > 22 RBI 115 > 80 > 65 OBP 404 > 363 > 302 OPS+ 177 > 120 > 98 K 141 < 161 < 173 I am seeing a pattern here. I wonder if this has anything to do with: AGE: 35 < 36 < 37

RIP Rickey. The best leadoff hitter and stolen base king. Glad he was a Yankee. Stay away from Nolan. Him and Paul's offense in decline is not a good sign. Derek's right Lowe would have been a better option.

Disappointed would like to see Santander as a Yankee and Belanger at first too many right handed bats but looking forward to see what happens this season still need another infielder . Most people don’t like Torres but he hit very well in the lead off spot should have resigned him
@TheEverydayFan18 сағат бұрын
No matter what Derreck they still have the best team in the AL and it's not even close. Baltimore isn't close and that's the only one. Detroit isn't much. Houston is selling. Should have another pennant regardless who plays 3rd base.
@vfs14820 сағат бұрын
Wait!!! What??? The Yankees could probably have gotten Nathaniel Lowe for a reliever, and they get Paul Goldschmidt instead. And, now they want to pick up another aging dud in Arenado. This is starting to go south real fast.

How is 4 lefties not enough for you? Lol
@PinstripeTerritory18 сағат бұрын
Hurf durf LOL. Because two of them hit under .240 last year and were essentially rookies. And Wells won’t play every day because he’s a catcher.
@adamserella18 сағат бұрын
@PinstripeTerritory what lefty infielders are available that have a high enough avg?
@PinstripeTerritory9 сағат бұрын
Well I would have preferred Nathaniel Lowe but he got moved to Washington. Brandon Lowe isn't exactly a high contact guy but he's a good WAR guy. Brendan Donovan could be available. Luis Rengifo could be a solid pickup.

I really liked the Bellinger, Fried, Williams moves but not a fan of the Goldschmidt move and really wouldn’t like Arenado because the Yankees need another big bat preferably left handed. Big disappointment after the optimistic beginning

May the Lord be with the Henderson family as they morn the loss of arguably the greatest leadoff hitter of all time! As far as this team...they are not playoff material. Too many strike outs, questions and where do the runs/hits come from? The pitching and the pen are locks. I just don't know where the runs and hits will come from with this old head lineup.

The Yankees have just solidified the case for why Brian Cashman needs to go as general manager. Their infield was a disaster last season, and rather than addressing that issue head-on, they trade Gleyber Torres and Anthony Rizzo. But instead of pursuing a top-tier first baseman like Walker or Pete Alonso, they go after an aging, past-his-prime Paul Goldschmidt? Really? This move doesn’t improve the team in any meaningful way-it’s basically the same as keeping Rizzo. It’s a poor decision, plain and simple. The Yankees haven’t done anything to actually fix their infield, which has been their biggest problem. Bringing in Goldschmidt doesn’t make them any better than they were last year. It’s more of the same: a team unwilling to make the bold moves needed to truly improve. Meanwhile, their cross-town rivals, the Mets, are making all the right moves and building a competitive roster. As a lifelong Yankee fan, I can’t help but think of what George Steinbrenner would say about this mess-and how disappointed he’d be in his son, who, frankly, doesn’t seem to have the vision or drive to turn this team around. At this point, it’s clear that the Yankees need a new, more motivated owner who’s willing to make the tough calls and get this team back on track. I will not be spending my money on purchasing any Yankee tickets this years. No way they do not deserve my money or any fans money. Lame as moves my lame ass leadership out of touch with what it takes to win
@PinstripeTerritoryКүн бұрын
Just to clarify a few of your points - the Yankees didn't trade Gleyber Torres or Anthony Rizzo - they are both free agents. Gleyber was literally the worst defensive 2B in baseball last year - so not sure how retaining him addresses the issue. Second, Goldschmidt is better than Rizzo - he hit 14 more home runs, and more importantly, he stays on the field, and Rizzo's defense has suffered in recent years - Goldy is a little above league average. The Mets really haven't dont much other than add Soto - you seem pretty upset when it's not really deserved, IMO - the team made the World Series, and has VASTLY improved the pitching staff - their offense is a work in progress. Cheer up.

Nope - hes just not a starting player. He’s a bench piece - a perfect utility man - switch hitter who can play multiple positions, allowing him to fill in almost anywhere and against any pitcher. As you can see, he’s listed on our bench

And we don't need to be going after these old guys anymore man so aeronautics going to be just like Josh Donaldson pay big money for a guy that's falling apart no thank you pass on that does not look too promising this year
@michaelscepkowski5031Күн бұрын
If you look at our offense it does not look too good right now this is not good bellinger's okay but he's not great he don't even hit 20 home runs man and it's not like he hits 300 either so I don't know just looks like it's not going to be a good year for us this year
@Xenlacasa45Күн бұрын
Negative. Bellinger hit over 20 homeruns last year and will hit 30 this year as a Yankee. Paul Goldshmidt is better than Rizzo and Jasson Dominguez will get more playing time.
@michaelscepkowski5031Күн бұрын
So basically Goldsmith is Anthony Rizzo why would you sign somebody like that that's old I just don't understand this that's another thing that pisses me off why are they signing these guys that are washed up now
@Xenlacasa45Күн бұрын
Paul Goldshmidt can still play. Rizzo was done after the concussion and he's flat footed at first. The old Yankee way sign veterans. Beats having all these rookies starting
@michaelscepkowski5031Күн бұрын
Will have a decent year with the lineup and who we have we are we're not winning the world series dodgers or a way stronger is there a pitching staff is way better than our 1 through 5 it is better I mean look at who they're going to throw out and their hitters are better than ours but see what we can do

This is one of this stories where it's become hard to separate fact from fiction but it's said that someone quoted John 3:16 to Rickey Henderson once and Rickey responded, "I don't want to hear about John hitting 316; Rickey's hitting .330."

Not really a fan of an Arenado trade, but honestly it's better than a Bregman signing. Arenado is a better defender with a way better arm. Bregman doesn't hit career wise in the Bronx well at all and Arenado had a better offensive year last year. Arenado is only 3 years and will be less than 30 million where Bregman will be 6-7 years and reeks of Ellsbury 2.0
@Xenlacasa45Күн бұрын
Arenado trade was blocked for stroman. Bregman is a free agent which Yankees could sign and would be a much better option than a rookie Peraza
@jeremyzamora8398Күн бұрын
@ nah, Bregman is a terrible contact waiting to happen. You'll get maybe 2 good years. He's historically hotty terribly in the Bronx and had been declining offensively the past two years. Even Arenado had a better offensive yard last year
@Xenlacasa45Күн бұрын
@jeremyzamora8398 i think he could turn it around still. Beats having Peraza at third
@jeremyzamora8398Күн бұрын
@ whom Arenado? I'd honestly rather Paraza. Arenado is for 3 years, I'd rather not have him on the books for 3 years. Bregman even more rather not have for 6-7 years. He's already declined worse than Arenado and doesn't come with his glove. Paraza gives gold glove defense and dirt cheap.

Goldschmidt has already seen the drop-off. He was MVP in 2022. Last year he was a below average offensive player (OPS+ 98). We are probably looking at another Josh Donaldson (not personality but production).

The Rays are gonna pay the Yankees $15 million in rent for 2025 to play at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. The Yankees should rent the field for $1 and send Stroman and $3 million to the Rays for a flyer on a minor leaguer. It won’t affect Tampa’s cash flow nor the Yankees’ cash flow AND the Yankees clear $15 MM off payroll.

RIP Rickey. Not sure I like this move. This is a 37 years old right hander who is on the downhill every year. He can still hit the bomb but not much else. This is a cheaper version of Alonso and let's hope that is not another DJ LeMaheiu. Defence will be downgrade from Rizzo. The only reason that Yank getting Goldschmidt is that they can land Arenado next.
@Xenlacasa45Күн бұрын
Paul Goldshmidt is an upgrade from flat footed Rizzo at first. He had a great second half last year. Paul is also better defensively than Alonso. And has better plate discipline
