If you look at the stats for the World Series that’s not the case, yanks had a better batting average, 1 less run. It was all defense and we have addressed that.

Defense is great, but if you’re gonna have a .650 ops as your best output….you can’t be a starting SS on a contender. I really really really hope Volpe comes through this year. If not for anything else, for the hundreds of dollars I spent on Volpe shirts/jerseys 😅. That said, if he continues with his avg production I can’t keep hearing about this small sample or that small sample we need a consistent contribution from every spot in the lineup if it’s gonna be good enough offense this year.

Last season Volpe was caught between two approaches. I think he figured it out toward the end. I agree that Volpe should turn over the order not lead off.

Volpe needs to get to .270 mark with what the current lineup looks like. Unless he taps into power like 25+ and still hits .250. If he does not, it is time to maybe think about a new SS.

It's also about having a great manager that does not make bad decisions that could change the outcome in the opponent's favor, especially going to the bullpen too early. I don't see the yanks winning no. 28, at least not with boone at the helm. The 98 yanks had 3 aces that can go 8+ innings and minimize bullpen usage. Allowing the dodgers to see their best bullpen guys in the opener was never a good thing.

I think we're the best team in the AL right now. Obviously it's too soon to be confident in that at this point, but I think Goldschmidt and Bellinger will provide enough offense to offset losing Soto, Fried and Williams make the pitching better. Wells and Volpe will probably improve from last year. I'm optimistic.

good stream. listen. i think most of us want another big move in the infield. is there anyone to be had? taking the field with dj in april would obviously be a sad signal by the organization. this team is better than last year. and yes the dodgers were and remain a better team. but a few things go our way (judge hits in october/ defense somewhat better) and that’s a competitive world series. ultimately any team that gets to the world series can win it.

If the Yanks acquire another elite defender, it may be close. Let's face it, the Yank's defense was terrible. 93 errors last year. And, it seemed to get better throughout the playoffs, but it reappeared the World Series. Some key bullpen guys would be great as well.

Quality over QUANTITY. A bunch of washed has been’s with recognizable names like Belli, and Goldschmidt do not equal one Juan Soto. Fried is a good pitcher but he pitches to contact, and we’ve seen how the Yankees deal with balls in play 🤣🤣. Starting pitching wasn’t even the Yankees issue, yet they used a lot of that long term Soto money on Fried. Offense is the biggest need for Yankees, they opted to spend big money on pitching and settle for has beens on offense. The Yankees are NOT A BETTER TEAM than the 2024 team. Williams is an elite closer, and Fernando Cruz was acquired for very little. Those two moves were good. But even still Williams has a terrible playoff history. Gave up the second most impactful homerun this postseason. Long history of choking outside of this year as well

Much more comfortable this year, our problem last year wasn’t hitting (despite what everyone is saying about judge) our problem was the defense, pitching, and manager decisions. With this offseason we’ve improved two of those three problems. But even then I feel Boone learned his lesson from the playoffs in choosing experience over skill. But I can only speculate.
