Gil has been extremely impressive. Since his worst outing of the season in MIL he's been on it. Last 3 outings combined 18IP 6H 1R 13Ks. One of those outings came against BAL on the road. Love what I'm seeing from him.

This is a game that past Yankee teams could choke away. Instead of going back out in front by 3 or 4, after the Rays get within one, they miss opportunities and allow the Rays to chip away and eventually win in the 8th or 9th. A game like this, away from home, is a big test of character & fight in a team. Sometimes this group of guys makes it look so easy we take it for granted. Great win today.

In my opinion, this was a win, but not a good win. The bullpen could have potentially blown this game if it weren't for the offense. They really need to improve that area, or it will eventually catch up to them in closer games. This is something to keep an eye on as the season progresses.

I am happy that we got Soto, we needed him....That being said Ferguson is one of the people we got because we didn't want to pay Wandy (to make space for Soto). Good thing that Gleyber had an awesome at bat and picked tonight to break out. Tonight was a low key game that we didn't realize we had to win going in, but afterwards are like "man its a real good thing we won that game". Go Yankees

Gawd. Poor relief pitching nearly gave this one away. Well, and Boone's baffling decision to leave the pitcher who had loaded the bases with walks and HBP in to face the next hitter. But Boone's always been really bad with the pitching decisions. Thankfully the Rays didn't tie it up and wipe out what was a masterful performance by Gil, and then we tacked on some extra runs just to make sure. It was a lot closer than the score suggests, and a lot closer than it needed to be.

How much are the Yankees paying these relief pitchers? Gil pitches 6 clean innings and them these guys come in a throw gas on the fire. Like the days of Scott Proctor and Kyle Farnsworth. Ferguson gets 1 out and gives up 4 runs. Burdi gives up a run and can’t get anyone out.
