I've spent hundreds of hours grinding, blending and polishing aircraft frames and other parts. I spray or dip the carbide burrs into oil before starting the job and every few minutes there after. Works great. Take your time and use light pressure. Heavy pressure generates heat then the aluminum sticks to the burr. High Speed Steel burrs work very well on aluminum and are much cheaper than carbide. I'll have to give the candle trick a try as mentioned by Nathan.

The problem is because the stock valve springs are too weak for higher RPMs causing valve float and the rough running. You can use the Comp Cam valve spring set GP961-2 that are used on Briggs and Stratton engines for racing and that should help with the miss firing at high rpm

Those springs are way different. The diesel has more coils, thicker coils, and those springs would make a cam lobe completely circular and much smaller, really fast

I have only just started the video and I don’t want to be one of those guys but here I go… A port and polish actually hurts low end torque but helps high rpm, when your not even hitting 4K rpm I can’t impinge it makes a measurable improvement, also as you can see by the hit and miss and high rpm the timing is off for this rpm (white smoke is diesel that didn’t ignite) I know nothing about the fuel pumps on these diesels but with the governor removed if you can advance the timing on the fuel pump the rpms and power will keep rising!
@illernpiller

You can change the timing with the shims that's at the pump from my understanding.

I think that since it's a generator engine and thereby designed to operate at the fixed speed of 3600 in order to produce 60 hertz, then the optimum fuel injection pump timing is preset to 3600. With no other way to adjust fuel injection timing for engine speed, it will always run rough at any speed other than a constant 3600.
@kleetus92
@kleetus92 7 ай бұрын
I agree with the 3600 RPM part, but it should run smooth at speeds less than that so long as it isn't an odd harmonic... the 2 engines i have will run anywhere from idle to 3600 with no problems... there are a couple speeds in between they vibrate at, but not terribly so. If this engine can't make 3600 in stock trim, there's something already wrong with it. Being it's chinese, they use 50Hz power, which for a 2 pole generator would mean a top speed of 3000 RPM, in which case, 3400 ain't bad... but it won't work for us here.

Forced induction on a diesel is where real gains can be made. If you're building it to just do drag runs you can skip intercoolers and integrated oiling systems for single pass runs.
@JoshKilen

with the single cylinder diesels, it hard to get a constant boost due to only one pulse per 2 revolutions, not good for a turbo.
@UncannySense
@UncannySense 2 жыл бұрын
@@JoshKilen even just 3psi at 2000rpm will make a difference...I agree single cylinder pulse isn't ideal, But small chinsy turbos are cheap enough where any boost is better than no boost on a diesel.

You can add boost all day ,and basically get nothing. You've gotta add the fuel to get the power. Figure out how to crank up some fuel to it and add boost and watch it fly.
@MrTheHillfolk
@MrTheHillfolk 2 жыл бұрын
You'd get more power for cheap by using water injection. Blue washer fluid to be exact. Set up an old washer bottle with a 12v pump on it ,run a line to the intake and restrict it with an old jet. Keep increasing the size until it chuffs a little and back it off. Set it up right and it'll feel like a mild nitrous hit. And another benefit is it removes carbon, it'll be almost spotless on teardown except for color like a seasoned cast iron pan.
@starpuss

She just needs injector pump mods / stronger springs on the pump return, may help.. but seems like you have other problems still becauseat 3400 RPM they normally dont do that. . , did you remove your shims or just go down to the smallest size you could find. ?? Seems like you actually have a timing issue also.. But.. During "redline" it sure seems like its floating the values itself still seeing you are just blasting un burnt fuel like crazy.
@redneckcomputergeek
@redneckcomputergeek 2 жыл бұрын
Agreed. I think it floats the valves just as it passes 3900. I did try removing all the shims. No luck at that point to pass 3900. The pump return is the smallest spring in the top of the pump. Reality is fun idea but we hit the limits way sooner then I expected to.

@@steveeisenhauer3003 technically yes and no, its oil filter. The reason why I say that is the reason why its an oil filter it does filter the oil down to a point. And the reason why its not an oil filter is because it only screens the oil down to certain point and and doesn't filter and have the dirt holding capacity like a normal oil filter does. if that makes sense.
